  1. Video Editing Software

i have to say that by far Final Cut Pro is the best. It is very easy to learn, yet very powerful. There is also an Express version that is a bit less expensive. However, even something like iMovie does a surprisingly good job with editing and such. However, these are for macs. This video joiner software appears to be windows, so let me make some suggestions there as well. Personally, I love Sony Vegas. It is such a powerful app, but a bit pricey. For a beginner, I would highly recommend Pinnacle Studio. http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSite/us/P...io+version+10_5 It is a really great, easy, all-in-one package. let me know if you need any help, i use a lot of the video apps for both pc and mac. livestrong
  2. Tablet PC from apple?

http://technology.guardian.co.uk/weekly/st...1981815,00.html This is a very interesting article regarding Jobs and the prospect of a tablet mac. it also talks about his meetings and the iPhone. written by a former apple employee.
  3. Canon Rebel XTi

what an awesome camera! looks like you are certainly taking some great shots too this is definitely a camera i have been looking at, it really is a great Canon product. as of now i have a nice 5 MB point and shoot, but what exactly are some differences that you have noticed in your upgrade? livestrong
  4. New JaS DVD (AMD, INTEL SSE2, SSE3)

just curious JaS, how much bandwith does seeding this dvd take? like how fast are your uploading speeds? i can imagine its quite high.
  5. QE support for Geforce FX Go 5650

silverriver, i have the 5600, so the cards are almost exactly the same. i am in the exact same position. allow me to give you some advice. JaS will be releasing his SSE2 10.4.8 DVD very soon (today or tomorrow) and this will be where you need to begin. this is a dramatic improvement over everything else because it uses new kernels thanks to the hard work of a lot of people like semthex. then, you can use Titan / Natit to get complete support and QE/CI. Check in the forums for links. Heres a few good ones im looking at. http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=36480 For this link, begin reading on the NVIDIA part. dont worry about the first part as the JaS dvd will be different. http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=36435 This is also a good easy option that may work. talk to prasys. if you need any help, pm me...i will be moving over to these as well. livestrong
  6. sse2 dvd?

This will basically be the ultimate 10.4.8 and a new standard for all of us. I would like to say thank you JaS for all of the hard work and dedication. You truly embody everything this community stands for and we appreciate it a lot! Also thanks to everyone including the newly named swad livestrong
  7. vhs to dvd?

Felix how did the recording work out for you?
  8. do we need the semthex JaS SSE2 update for this or will this work on my 10.4.7 JaS install? thanks! livestrong
  9. Hey everyone! Still on 10.4.7 JaS, and it works great, but i dont have QE/CI on my graphics card. I have a NVIDIA FX GeForce go5600 (device ID 0x031a). Im on a SSE2 machine. I am curious as to whether or not this card would work with the SSE2 semthex beta9 10.4.8 or not, and if i could get QE/CI enabled. Is there a certain thread i should be looking at...there are a lot of them dealing with this in here. Or, should i just wait until JaS puts out a final 10.4.8 using the kernel? Thanks a lot! livestrong
  10. wow sorry about that apparently i have a 5600, not a 5200 and im on a SSE2 machine.
  11. im thinking about updating to the new 10.4.8 with semthex and the beta9, but ive heard people saying they have troubles with my graphics card. i have a nvidia fx go 5200 (64 MB). will this work??? any suggestions would be appreciated! livestrong
  12. Video-Capturing

for windows i would have to say that Sony Vegas is a great middle of the road app. It has some of the nice features like Adobe Premiere, but without all of the complication of that app. Premiere is fabulous for experienced users though, and Pinnacle Studio is good for more of the point and click users.
  13. Concepts of iPhone

21 is a very sharp design. i could see that targeting the smart phone, business type user maybe. 19 is very nice as well. that would probably go over big as a less expensive type phone (but still with a great apple interface of course!)
  14. Photoshop VS Aperture

With the Photoshop beta out, it is so much faster! There is quite a lot to be said about a native Photoshop, especially considering how annoying the slow speed was becoming. Aperture is great, but I am just so much more used to Photoshop and the whole Adobe suite.
  15. vhs to dvd?

Well, first of all im assuming that you need to get the vhs onto your computer correct? In that case, you have a few options. If you are willing to spend a little bit of money there are VHS/DVD recorders ( i recently saw one for under $100). This is great if you have a lot of these tapes. However, for smaller quantities, this link might be of help to you. http://www.signvideo.com/conv-v-to-d.htm I especially think the VHS player to computer is a simple option. Once you've got your content on the computer, a good basic editor will do the trick (even iMovie works great). The best for this though is Final Cut Pro which has a feature built-in for low quality recordings. It will also work wonders on audio...Ive taken all the cracks and pops (so to speak) out of my older recordings. THats about a good start i would say! Let me know if you need some more tips. livestrong
