wonderousbill
Hi all, I just downloaded 10.4.6 from Azureus with the file named "10.4.6.install.dvd.iso". I successfully burned the ISO file to a DVD+R and when I put the DVD in my DVD drive, I boot to the disc, Darwin comes up and i press anykey to continue then the grey Apple logo comes up with the little spinning thing below it and then all of a sudden there is a "wrong" symbol that appears over the apple logo. Meaning "wrong" symbol, I mean a circle with a line through it and it just stops right there. Any suggestions? My computer specs are as follows: -Dell Dimension E521 -AMD Athlon 64 3500+ (2.2GHz) -1GB RAM -Western Digital SATA 80GB HDD -ATI Radeon 9200 128MB, PCI slot -NVIDIA 6150 LE Integrated Graphics (On the motherboard, I installed a video card after I got my comp) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/11339-howto-xp-osx-1044-1048-native-dual-boot/page/51/#findComment-212325 Share on other sites

Latca
I have made all the steps, partitioned the hd, created a fat 32 primary partition, burned the dvd, rebooted to the install dvd (Mac.OS.X.Tiger.10.4.6.X86-HOTiSO). Then I get stuck when I get at the Disk Utility part where I have to select the destination, it doesn't show my hard disk and the partitions I made. The only things in the left panel are: my cd/dvd drive and the mac os x install dvd. Any help on this would be much appreciated. RedSun76
Hello all, this is my first post. I'm trying to install this setup on a PC I built last year. I checked to make sure that all of my hardware is compatible and it is but when I put my iso on and try to boot it my computer just keeps taking me straight to the Acronis Disk Selector. I think I either didn't download the right one or I'm not burning it right. If anyone could recommend a program to burn it with I would be appreciative, I'm currently using Adensoft DVD/CD burner. RedSun76
Okay I have it burned and it reads it now but when I get to the grey apple screen I get a circle with a slash through it. Does that mean that something is not compatible because I already checked to make sure that everything was? Does that mean that something is not compatible because I already checked to make sure that everything was? If you were to boot up in verbose mode (-v) you would be seeing the error message "waiting for root device". Make sure your DVD drive is on the same cable as the hard drive. Set the hard drive to master and the DVD drive to slave using jumpers, not cable select. Make sure any other drives including external drives are disconnected. I did exactly what you said and im getting the still waiting for root device error so I think I might have misread something when I was checking to make sure that everything I had was compatible. So I'm thinking that maybe my motherboard can't run it. I have an Intel 865GVHZ.
