Yanks
I just burned my DVD for OSX, and loaded it up. The Apple logo with the small animation came up and I can hear the DVD humming away, then it switches to a blue screen and just stops. I am trying this on an Acer Aspire 1642ZWLMi Laptop, Pentium M 1.73ghz, 1gig DDR2 533, Intel GMA 900. I am using MacOSX_10.4.6DVDPATCHED_Myz . Any help would be appreciated. I will let it sit some more and try again after. EDIT: Ok i am in the installer at Select a Destination, but no drives are showing up. Rammjet
then it switches to a blue screen and just stops Try connecting a monitor, a VGA dongle or the 2-wire trick: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?ac...ost&id=1522 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/11339-howto-xp-osx-1044-1048-native-dual-boot/page/44/#findComment-194471 Share on other sites
Yanks
Try connecting a monitor, a VGA dongle or the 2-wire trick: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?ac...st&id=1522I It is working fine and installing right now. I went to disk manager and converted the partition and it is 30% done right now. Will update as I go along. Edit: To clarify, the problem was just hanging up, not any kind of display issue. Sorry about the confusion Edit: Ok so the Arconis OS selector doesn't come up on Re-Boot ? Yanks
Ok so OSX installed, and then restarted, except the computer booted straight into Windows. If I go to Acronis Disk Director under Tools, OS Selector isn't a clickable option. Any ideas? daytona5000
another success from germany. I have succesfully installed macosx on my vaio FS315M ------------ Sony VAIO FS315M - Pentium M 740 / 1.73 GHz - Centrino - RAM : 1 GB - HD : 80 GB - DVD±RW (±R DL) - 802.11b/g - Win XP Home - 15.4" Widescreen TFT 1280 x 800 ( WXGA ) ------------ I have used "MacOSX10.4.7.AMD-INTEL-(JaS)-ISO-Repack" Everything runs fine, except the damn "intel 2200BG" wlan minipci card (does anyone have any ideas or workarounds ?) :-( For the 1280x800 res of the nvidia graphics I used the "MacVidia" driver. keep up the excellent work! cheers from germany daytona java script:emoticon('', 'smid_20') Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/11339-howto-xp-osx-1044-1048-native-dual-boot/page/44/#findComment-194533 Share on other sites
Whitezombi
I was finally able to boot into OS X. I used the MacOSX_10.4.6DVDPATCHED_Myz ISO - BUT I did not install the 10.4.5 & 10.4.6 updates. I cannot dual boot & it seems I can only have the OS X HD plugged in. I have networking thanks to skge. Jermo
ok so I boot with the DVD and the mac logo comes up and the little rotating mac loading thing appears and then it just hangs.. and sometimes a little black and white error symbol will appear over the apple and sometimes it wont.. any suggestions? Rammjet
sometimes a little black and white error symbol will appear over the apple If you ran verbose mode (-v) you would find that it is reporting the error: "waiting for root device". You need to make sure your optical drive is on the same ATA chain as your hard drive. Make the hard drive master and the optical drive slave using jumpers, not cable select. If you are on a laptop and cannot change the ATA chain, then you will need to install using VMWare: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=11314 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/11339-howto-xp-osx-1044-1048-native-dual-boot/page/44/#findComment-194875 Share on other sites

Yanks
Ok so I am getting this screen after the really fast scrolling text seen in the Guide. Judging by the text it appears to be a Kernel Panic(?). If I type in -x to boot to safemode it does the same thing. Specs are: Pentium M 740 1.73 ghz, Intel GMA 900, 1gb DDR2 533 ram, 10.4.6 http://img155.imageshack.us/my.php?image=osxlargexl0.jpg Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/11339-howto-xp-osx-1044-1048-native-dual-boot/page/44/#findComment-195073 Share on other sites

dilnalomo
@ cbmkgd: yo, sn8k's method does work. i had to fix it a little, but it works. acronis sees vista as XP, but it boots Vista correctly. try my guide here to see if it work for you. http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=28506 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/11339-howto-xp-osx-1044-1048-native-dual-boot/page/44/#findComment-195201 Share on other sites
mastertop101
Hello, Can I do that even if my processor doesn't support PAE (while it supports SSE2, SSE3)? Would it work with Mac-OS-X-10.4.7-AMD.Intel-(JaS) ? If not, what should I use ? Yanks
I got OSX installed and booted into it. LAN port works, USB is recognized. Keyboard and trackpad also work fine. Maine_Coon
dilnalomo, You are a genius. Olease add 2 more success stories: Dell 700m Dell 9300 HotISO was used in both cases. Both times XP was screwed, both times it was repaired by putting XP Install CD, booting from the CD, putting R for recovery and then "bootcfg /rebuild". Anyway, my two laptops both have XP and OS X. You lucky it didn't help me. I had to reinstall EVERYTHING from beginning. It works now. I notice one thing. OSX working very fast at the beginning and it slows down after few hours. Is it just me or it's true? And it sucks without network. My card is not supported. ADMtek AN983 10/100 PCI Adapter. Any workaround exist?
