tobi, sure that was after booting in single user mode (-s)?

It's NOT detecting my codec AT ALL. I did everything mentioned in the first post. I had to chmod logged in as root for that to work. Afterward, at boot i typed -s, then kextload /HDAudio.kext, here are my results:

HDAudio[0x2a40400]::CodecDetection-started(0x2809780) by Taruga
HDAudio::D27:F0 Irq: 16 Vid: 8086 Pid: 2668

HDAudio[0x2a40400]::CodecDetection-ended(0x1)

0x00000000 means it's NOT recognizing my codec, right? Oddly, when i INITIALLY ran it the bracketed code in the first AND last line read [0x2a3f400] in both places, but 0x00000000 still was there. I have a Dell Dimension 3100/E310, which, AFAIK, has a Sigmatel 9200 chip. Now, compare the results with the linux codec dump below:

Codec: SigmaTel STAC9200
Address: 2
Vendor Id: 0x83847690
Subsystem Id: 0x102801c4
Revision Id: 0x102201

Maybe, linux (it was knoppix, i believe) detected it wrong, but at least it showed something. Any idea what's going on? I'll try the second HDAudio kext when i can. For now, some help would be great......

Hi, Taruga. I tested this HDAudio.kext on my lap top. My lap top is HP nx8420 with AD1981HD sound card. I tried many kext before. But I only can control the volume, and there is no sounds out.

With the HDAudio.kext, It shows the following information:

Hi! have the same issue with HP nx6310 CoreDuo T2050 1600 Mhz MB:Intel® i945GM Express; video i950GMA

sound card: ADI 1981 HD

:(

output of that kext is the same as linux codec dump

What I´m testing here, is to check if the kext detects the codec info as the new patcher uses the same approach to identify it and program the codec ( this is necessary for a lots of codecs that don't work at the moment).

The problem is that, if it doesn't detect the codec info ... the new patcher will not with you unless I find a solution.

So, if your codec is detected then you´ll have a better chance to get yours working if it´s not at the moment.

is this is a big trouble, that your kext detected Revision id as 0x00100200, but linux codec dump is 0x100200?

can give any help with testing HP AD1981HD

Tried version 3

For me it doesn't report anything, it just reads "kext loaded successfully", my codec is CMI9880 (c-media).

Taruga, in the worst case, wouldn't it be possible for those with undetected codecs to make a kind of assistant that would allow us to manually enter the required data that we would get somewhere else (from a datasheet, a windows tool, linux dump etc...) ?

I will think of something....

In single user mode on my ALC888 (Abit IP35 Pro M/:( using AudioHDA3. Without the -v on kextload I just get the message that the extension was loaded successfully.

I've attached the Linux codec output in its entirety. I had to correct the Subsystem id in this - it was 0x147b0000, fixed it to 0x147b1083.

bash-3.2# kextload -v /HDAudio.kext
