Smily discussion.

We all know much more than any regular user wanting to buy a computer, Mac or PC.

But all that {censored} about stripped vista or using 2008S as desktop...

People, do you really think, that my granny would do it? Or a girl that studies law/journalistic? Or a doctor, that writes his new book about how to cure a decease? Or a graphic that is a photoshop kickass? Or...?

 

These people just place "'da box on 'da table" switch it on and use.

They do not care about how it works, they just want it to work. They wont vLite Vista, they wont install 2008S and tweak it, they wont try 10 different installs of iHack to make pc_efi work.

If computer crashes an screws their data - they will complain and blame the technician.

 

And now tell me what guys:

you have on the table iMac and new custom made PC box with vista (both as is), what will screwup first? ;-)

Ok... Anyways, I've used copies of Vista that fit onto a 700MB CD, and are ridiculously fast.

 

I wonder what the memory usage is for 2008?

I ran it on 64mb RAM fine, so that's how great it is. It only started to slow down after 128mb.

So...what I'm getting from this is:

 

Strip out most of the {censored} Microsoft put in Vista and it runs better? :P

Most of what makes Server 2008 faster and better is probably what will end up filtered into SP1 for Vista. Just a thought.

 

 

 

Of course...Leopard runs very well without stripping anything out. Funny, isn't it?

 

Let's see the performance after the 10.5.2 update with the new Intel compiler too.

This is My Opinion......

 

"Lets give them the same old {censored} but make them work harder by forcing them to install everything themselves" must be what them over at MS thought!

 

They saw how much effort the guys put into getting MacOSX to work on a Hack, SO let they let us think if we do all the work we will be proud of "our" new OS! :D:D:D

 

Once i did most of the changeover, there i sat............ so what else is new........... maybe if i waited a new screen will pop up, shouting "APRIL FOOL!".......maybe not............I'm getting bored now....... think i will stop......... maybe boot into MacOS and do something exciting!

heres how to convert server 2008 to a workstation http://www.jcxp.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=14392 . the speed of rc0 blows away vista thats why i would use a server os over vista. im not a windows troll i just think why the hell am i gonna waste all that money on mac when windows can do everything that a mac does, plus play all the top new games. i never get any errors or spyware on server 2008, and all my hardware was good to go out of the box expect for nvidia drivers. so i guess if you got the dough and want a case that looks really nice and shinny buy a mac.

Depends on what the end-user is used to. And most people are used to Windows... they'd probably screw up Mac first (like my brothers who somehow manage to delete everything from my dock)

Look, i'm not saying windows is a {censored} bla-bla-bla... What i'm saying is that statement W2K8S rulezz is at least smily. End user will never install it as desktop system and many advanced users like me or you wont do it.

Sure, chop-off you Vista to work flawlessly as i did with XP in the past, oh hell, i agree with that 99.9%, but that is the reason why i converted to mac - i dont have to do this anymore.

And that is why i'm certain, thats what the ordinary user will appreciate the most and it really doesn't matter what they are used to.

If they like XP(Vista), they'll use it whatever you say about Mac or Linux and vice versa.

 

robotskip - maybe it's not so obvious as you think? :D

If it doesn't function as it's supposed to, then it's screwed up.

 

And it does matter what the person is used to. They're used to Windows UI, and thus are more productive in Windows. (Hence why the dock was messed up as I returned to it)

you dickhead, off course leopard doesnt run doom good. you run it in an emulator (crossover and parallels are emulators, {censored}). try to play a mac game on your o so perfect windows 2008 server in mac emulator and it also will run like {censored}. Don't compare things in a way like thatwindows sucks, mac os x rules (and i have both OS and i have 10 years of experience with windows and 17 with mac os x)and why the {censored} do they censor my {censored} {censored} words?

Well, if windows is so bad, than why almost all PC users round the world are running it?

 

The Ford Escort was the best selling car in America for well over a decade. Does that mean it was the best car ever made? More fun to drive than a Mustang GT, Corvette, or Porsche? I think the answer is no.

 

More sales does not mean better.

 

Mac OS X is like driving an exotic, high end sports car. Its fast, fun, and stable. Besides -like an exotic sports car- it draws more attention when you pull out a Macbook or Macbook Pro then a generic box running Vista, XP, or even 2008. :)

I dunno about that analogy, exotic sports cars aren't known to be reliable :P My Hackintosh notebook must be like the Ford GT, doesn't cost as much as a Ferrari and outperforms it.
