I'm most anticipating that 10.5.2 update...

This comes along with another report saying that the Mac Tablet will be released and WILL run a modified version of OS X.

Same here, leopard has a lot of issues that need fixing. The increased performance on Intel macs is also cool. Macworld '08 will be fun like always.

Predictions for MacWorld:

Steve starts off with alittle bit about the iPhone SDK. He'll talk about how well Leopard's selling and all that. Probably make a crack at Microsoft. Followed by the announcement of Penryn for all Macs, which is the only time the Mac Pro will be mentioned at all. Then he start up on iTunes, saying it's sold 5,000,000,000 songs, give or take a billion. Which will lead into iTunes 8 which will have some crazy new interface and the option of the 'Classic' sorting order. Finally, he'll tell everyone about the 5.2 update. Which fixes some bugs, adds the little speedboost, but the part that's the most amazing, iCal will finally have the correct date in the dock! To end it off, NIN plays live since Trent Reznor's a big MacHead and John Mayer's making a new CD.

 

As you see, absolutely NO mention of the Mac-let, 3G iPhone(2) or ACD's.

Uh, iCal already does display the correct date. It happened when Leopard was in 521 or 559.

A cocoa iTunes 8 with core animation would be sweet. Don't know if it's happening though, because it would be leopard only, and have to be ported to windows.

If they updated *every single* Mac with Penryn and a new mobo chipset, I would be extremely happy. Apple takes so effing long to adopt new standards. If they do update the iMac for penryn, they should also throw in an ATI 3850, since thats single slot.

I'd like to see iTunes become simpler, more easy to use, and less resource intensive. iTunes on Windows needs some serious work in terms of launching, quiting, and overall performance.

Just because the problems are just kind of annoying (extent of annoyance varying from person to person), does NOT mean that they are not critical problems. And just because these problems are not as SEVERE as Vista's does NOT mean that they are not critical.

 

Personally, I'd say that problems like wireless constantly dropping and Leopard forcing you to hard boot due to kernel panics, etc, are VERY CRITICAL problems. Shoot, not even Vista had any wireless problems.

 

10.5.2 better fix all this stuff. Speed upgrade? That's nice, but where's the stability? I'd rather having something that will work forever without crashing rather than something that will work faster and crash more than I care to think about.

 

On that note, I'm switching back to Tiger this week as soon as I can find space to back everything up onto. The only feature of Leopard I used was Spaces, anyways. As for UI, I can fix that in Tiger with UNO; and as for spaces, I can just use You Control: Desktops.

 

Unless 10.5.2 fixes a lot of the bugs I've heard of and experienced in Leopard, I'm probably not going to switch back until 10.5.6 or so.

That's a lie. Vista boots you off if your on too long. I know, it does it to me ALL THE {censored} TIME! RAWR! Sorry, venting anger. And I know it's not the modem or router because when my boy brought over his XP laptop, worked perfect. I'd have XP on this, but it's mamadukes computer, not mine. Plus I can't find an XP version of Windows DVD Maker.

Ahh, that's my mistake. But, when you think about it, it's not even Microsoft's fault all the time when the wireless is booted. It can't be. A lot of wireless drivers are provided by the card manufacturers.

For Apple, on the other hand, they provide all their own drivers, putting them at fault.

True that Apple can be blamed, I agree with you on that. But I think the wireless disconnectivity in Vista is Microsoft's fault. The computer I got was a pre-config'd HP (it's actually mamadukes, I use it mostly til graduation, when I get a MBP), so I naturally assume that all the drivers would work seeing as I'm pretty sure HP checks to make sure before they ship them out. Although it is possible that I might've just gotten a defective one. What I don't think is possible though, is that the 5 or 6 of my friends that used Vista (whittled down to 3 now) also got defective pre-builts, all from different companies, and they too have the wireless disconnect problem. So I'm not the only one. I therefore claim it being, Microsoft's fault.

You are kidding me, right.I'm not using Vista on my Dell laptop because exactly that, I even started a thread with Vista dropping the WiFi signal, and the worst thing is that Vista doesn't recognize the Wireless card after it losses the signal, so a REBOOT is needed, no other way.Is ironic that Leopard on this "unsupported" hardware has better results, yes sometimes looses the WiFi Signal, 3 times in week is alot, sometimes just with a replug of the USB adapter is enough, but yes sometimes needs a reboot.

I believe that's not true, somes drivers are not completely created by Apple, they just suply them, even some Wired Ethernet drivers too.
