InsanelyMac logo design competition

Ed

As some of you are already aware, InsanelyMac has been undergoing a makeover for quite some time. As we get closer to the re-launch of InsanelyMac, we'd like to open up the design of the new InsanelyMac logo to the community.

All you budding designers out there, please post your logo design(s) in a comment/reply to this post. The winner will be credited on every page of the new InsanelyMac website when it launches in July.

Good luck! :gun:

I really like the evolution concept, that just looks really clean and pro. Though the new design just sucks in my (humble :censored2:) opinion. Way too "flashy", looks just cheap and totally unprofessional... Hope there will be a new design before this one's released (A)

You may be on to something here...  This, as a whole, not so much.  But the apple-leafed command-like symbol... interesting.

The font would need to be replaced with something more sharp and crisp to match the hard edges of the symbol.

But I think people may be too attached to the 'traditional' command sign to take on to this...

And, for the love of God, would people stop with the shiny tables?

And, for the love of God, would people stop with the shiny tables?

Agreed, I've seen far too many shiny tables as of late :),

I think that a lot of these designs are far too reliant on "cool" graphic effects instead of focusing on a solid structure to build the logo/wordmark around.

Making an Object look like "candy glass" and having it sit on a reflective table is "cool", but once you take all those elements away. The logo should still work on its own.

A graphic treatment is not a substitute for a well planned/ balanced design.

And one last thing, what's the consensus on the new "Black" theme? Personally I find I a bit too dark and somewhat ominous but I've yet to see the light version so I can't say if its any better.

In any case I just thought I'd offer a few thoughts on the matter.

Cheers,

My other 2 entries. I played with the command symbol.

The BNW;

or maybe rotated like this?

not very unique but solid (and nice explanation)!

imho the best so far. i prefer the "rotated" version.. the other one is too close to the command symbol. i hope the admins rework the sneak preview of the layout.. its to bold, heavy and it looks rather cheap atm..

second option for me would be the apple/skull-avatar from some guy within this thread.. fits to the whole insanelymac-concept very well..

Identity, I like it a lot. The purplish red is pretty cool, yes, but the blue still takes it. Add the sharper lettering with no reflections and I think you've got gold! :|
