muitommy
Hi, So I have my system stable (Its been running all week) encoding Films for AppleTV and allowing me to play with Virtubox I had to set maxmem=3072 to stop the random crashes but I can live with that until I can afford a new motherboard. I have one issue at the moment that has me confused. TimeMachine will not backup due to not being able to find the device. I have tried a new IONetworking.kext but that hasn't worked has anybody else found this issue? your network device en0 need to be in used, check it. Hi Mysticus. I already have the R3 here and I´m going to try it in a while. Today I got a surprise that is not very nice... the left button of my mouse stopped working and I have to change my USB Wireless Desktop 2000 - that´s compatible with mac. to a new PS/2 mouse and keyboard. But I´m going to try it anyway. I´ll be soon posting news about my installation. C ya soon. breakingbad
Hi there. Mysticus, I burnt the ISO image to an DVD and its working fine, but I made some tests here. When booting for the first time with iATKOS R3, I used -v flag and got the next message: - Extension "com.apple.driver.ACPI_SMC_PlataformPlugin" has immediate dependencies on both com.apple.kernel and com.apple.kpi components; use only one style. and hangs at this point. I got the same message when booting using -v -x flag and -v -s flag. When booting with these flags, it also shows some other messages, but it goes so fast, that is impossible to read something. Pics will be posted later. Using only the -x flag, it shows the image with the apple in the center and the loading icon that spins and hangs here. There´s no activity in the DVD-ROM or HDD leds. I will take pics of that process and post it tomorrow. My wife took my camera and couldn´t take the pics while trying R3. I could read that the R3 load my 4 cores and identified something like HTT - that looks like HyperTransport for me. I´m assuming that my BIOS is nice by now, since my last post brought some pics of my settings and returned no message with suggestions to change it. @muitommy: any suggestion for that problem? Any new config or hint?? About the PM about choosing kernel after F8, that hint about -s and then ls didn´t show me nothing at all. Maybe I did something wrong. C ya all tomorrow. No activity from HDD or DVD-ROM. Hi muitommy. Well, I think the problem is my BIOS - but I think it´s that because everybody is saying the MSI bios has problems. My main problem is that with some versions of OSX - like Leo4all V2 - my IDE HD is recognized even using NTFS system file, but using the iATKOS R2 (patched with equates1 + badbios) it only recognizes my SATA HD - wich one is installed Vista. I already thought about changing the Vista to the IDE and install OSX in the SATA. I´m working on that with Mysticus. When using the iATKOS R3 - I always get the same error message - - and Mysticus told me that I´m having trouble initializing and is almost sure that what causes that is BIOS - Mysticus, correct me if I´m wrong. Mysticus C*
it is bios related and only solution (equate's patch= in fact not really a patch it is replacing new apic and acpi with old acpi apic kexts, and solution originally found by another member whose name i dont remember now...) with new acpi and apic bios has issue... which kabyl's is doing patching on... so that you dont need to worry about this issue with any dvd anymore... for the hdd recognition... it is most likely nforce ata is either different version (your controller is old one so it may like old kexts which is found on some dvds) or it has conflict with other drivers at random times... for transfering your OS to another hdd, i will do it in couple of hours... muitommy
@b4d but if you can install with leo4all, why bother to use iatkos? one more thing, if you could install with leo4all, it probably not the problems of bios .... iATKOS R2 (patched with equates1 + badbios) = R3 do you mean R3 without badbios patch? breakingbad
iATKOS R2 (patched with equates1 + badbios) = R3 do you mean R3 without badbios patch? @muitommy Yeah. When I say iATKOS R3, is the one I got when I played the trumpet. The other iATKOS i´m talking about is the one patched. The trumpet one, the "official" R3 doesn´t seem to work for me because it hangs much earlier before I get to installation screen. After the message that says: "MAC Frame... " it hangs using none or some flags... and hangs in loading screen from apple when using -x flag. The problem is that using iATKOS R2 patched i´m only able to boot using cpus=1. Is there a way to change this after the whole system is installed or I can change this before installation??? @Mysticus thnx for the OS change .iso - I´m about to download it. []´s P.S. - I´m almost trying to install it again. Just a few more time. @muitommy The Leo4all doesn´t seem to be so compatible like the others. I tried installing some things on it for my 8600GT - 512 and none of them worked, using nvinject or any kind of that. So, searching here in ther forum, I "heard" that the most friendly version to nForce chipsets was iATKOS, so I´m on it now. Now, let´s see what I can get from it. Changing the OS the the ATA HD and using SATA to install OSX. breakingbad
Hi there. Well, let´s talk about my OSX installation. First of all, installation process gone real fine. Partitioned my SATA HD in three, like Mysticus told me once, and installed to a partition called Leopard. When to customized installation, choose the options I think it´s right - like nVida nvinject for my 8600GT - 512 Mb and as the post #2 recommends, what I don´t know if I have to choose, leave it that way. When finished install and the message to reboot shows up, I followed it and let the system restarts by itself... my expectation was real high... for my surprise... the system didn´t boot !!!! OH MY GOD. I don´t believe. More problems on the way. I´ll post the pics of the installation process later. Well, I´m gonna sleep now because I have some work to hand till 2 PM tomorrow. C ya later. []´s couple of suggestions... + start brand new dvd boot, use disk utility to erase the partition (no need to repartition again... just do an erase...) + install with the basic stuffs that are must have which are shown on the custom window, first... (no drivers choosen in the initial install...) + if you get gfx trouble after first reboot, then reboot again and start with -v -x should get rid of all the driver errors/trouble... + continue to 10.5.2 update guide, and choose drivers correctly in this stage... (read the guide carefully couple of times and understand the stages... it is very simple in fact it is only three stages... 1) kalyway update (no restart when done) 2) my gfx update with customization (leave the default settings on, but add drivers of your needs additiong to default settings... such as you can try new nforce ata driver, correct nvinject driver for nvidia, and all others like network, audio etc...) 3) restart and wait patiently while it is restarting once again before going to gui... and finally in 2 restarts by itself, it should go to GUI and you have 10.5.2... good luck... (note: best way to learn and get familiar with OSX, is to break it and reinstall couple more times, this will give u the best experience and understanding in the long term...)
