what is so hard to understand, there are three must-have options by default choosed + 2 extra programs... which are very usefull... they are most important ones, netkas sleep kernel

gfx update

sytem.kext

netkas sleep kernel

only thing you may want to change is uncheck netkas sleep kernel and select 9.2.0 kabyl c2d efi kernel...

if you ask me, i would leave the default settings as it is, and in addition, i would choose the vga/nvidia/nvinject 512

thats all... which part you dont understand?

Hi man. I have good knews for you. Withou installing the netkas, the update went perfectly and ny VGA is working fine. Now I can change the screen config. No panics and the system booted fine using the cpus=1 -v flag. And it´s running fine with the 4 Gb sticks of RAM. Don´t need to downgrade it.

Should I try booting with no flags or there will always be a flag to boot OSX?

I know might sound to early, but may I be able to run the 4 cores??

As everybody says here, you´re really a genius. :)

Going to gym. Talk to ya all later. Thnx once more man.

Sorry man, I don´t know why you´re angry at me.

I´m asking for help because I know you can help me.

I´m not going on my own. I asked you about the 9.2.0 kernel, because I remember that I posted a pic here, where my system hangs in a message that shows 9.2.0 kernel is having trouble.

I´m trying to learn here. You´re the ones who knows about this. I´m just a newbie trying to learn from you.

Take a look at this pic. I took this pic, exactly after doing the GFX update with netkas sleep kernel selected from the list.

the reason is bcoz I know what is coming next, you will start complaining about usb drive not mounting... and more to come on the way...

i said to you simply, choose 9.2.0 kabyl kernel or netkas kernel, and take 2 gb out of slot, bcoz i think smc problem is caused by memory controller... you have done everything opposite way or not done as i said... as a result you will cause more trouble, the whole idea of using osx with the suggested settings is to use it with both cores enabled, 4 gb memory will cause problem in different areas still... not just boot... however you are still insisting on something that you THINK is the problem... then if you know the problem why are you asking help?

the reason I am angry is bcoz after all the help you asked, you went your own way which I know will create more trouble, and you will waste my time... think about it, you will understand...

good luck on your journey...

Man, I understand what you say perfectly.

You have to take in consideration, that I´m new to that and if you explain me some things more detailed, It will be easier for me. You could told me that this could be probably memory controller to work with all cores.

It´s not because I´m going my own way. I´m trying a whole number of possibilities. I spent all night trying to install the updates with many differents settings. Sorry if my anxiety in learning made you angry.

I´m going to try today tacking out 2 Gb RAM and do all the process again. Now I know exactly what configs to use to install Leopard. And I had to thank you, because you told me that the more I get in touch with the system the more I´ll know it.

update (WARNING) news:

I tested the iAtkos 2.0i on my now fully compatible intel system, and to my suprise: found it extremely buggy... lots of issues with the boot caches (boot drivers)... for dvd boot, and bootloader scipts have some serious problems varying from system to system... and many good stuffs are missing... looks to me like it is a bit RUSHED release and not near finished release...

so I suggest you to try it on your own risk... it is buggy even on intel system, cant imagine how it will end up on nforce... since team split up, i dont know really if they put any emphasis on nforce......

good luck

THNX for the info about the link.

Could you tell me how to save the ACPI_SMC file from the Leopard install before the Kalyway update combo?? I don´t know how to do that.

I took 2 GB RAM sticks and made a clean install of iATKOS, installed all the updates and got same problem with the 9.2.0 kernel. In the image I took pic is showing that same error. I will need to change the ACPI_SMC before restarting from the update, right?

If you still can help me, please tell me how to procced...

[]´s

i will let you know what to do (in fact trial, error to see what exactly is causing the error)

i m bussy currently..

I made the installation following all the steps. Kalyway + BadBios + IOACPIFamily.kext reinstalled + GFX Update + reboot.

It booted fine but I got a little "trash - lines in the screen besides the OSX windows" but then I got same error of 9.2.0 kernel message.

I´m always booting using flag cpus=1 -v and I using 2 Gb ram only in dual-channel mode.

I´ll post pix of the screens. I´m installing Leo for the un# time.

don't expect someone would explain something in details now and in here,

cus some problems have been explained and explained again and again,

what you could do is to dig yourself

one more thing, when you're trying to install ...

u should try to eliminate all the possibilities that would/could cause troubles,

esp. the bios settings, and memory, bros!!

once u got a good system, u could try to put them back and enable sth. for further testing ...

breaking bad...

things to do:

1) install r3 and create your account...

2) once in desktop, open finder, go to drivers folder (System/library/extensions/) find these files

+ IOPlatformPluginFamily.kext

+ IOACPIFamily.kext

+ AppleACPIPlatform.kext

+ AppleAPIC.kext

copy them to your desktop

and right click in each of them and compress to zip file and upload it to somewhere like mediafire.com or anywhere you like...

gimme the link...

next thing will be trial error type... it may be the smc plugin inside platformplugin is causing problem that it doesnt support your chipset in the newer version, so i will get that for you to try... in two different forms... to see if it will have any effect... it is most likely the new smc causing the trouble...

alternatively, you can try backing up these four files i named above... and do replace them in between kalyway and my gfx update pkg but you will need to do manual permission fix which if u mess up, will doom your install...

Update News:

I made a small installer for USB/Firewire not Mounting issue for another topic, but wanted to post it here as well... (also will add it to post#2 for later use...)

Cause of the issue: The issue is caused of using a kernel version different than system.kext version... Esp, Kalyway 10.5.2 installs have this issue along with one more extra trouble. How? Because like in my guide i explained by default sleep kernel (9.2.0) is installed along with system.kext (9.2.2) which are different versions. Also if you didnt read my guide, you may have installed PCGENUSB2 driver as well, which is not needed for most systems (apart from handful of very old mobos, chipsets, some laptops with funny bios). If you have firewire/usb not mounting issue, first check you kernel version from terminal (uname -a) or system profiler/ software section. Find out your exact kernel version and, use the installer which i provided the link... (This installer first backs up all the files necessary before installing anything to your root volume under "backups" folder)

Good Luck...

Mysticus

I´m not ignoring your messages. I wouldn´t do that for any reason.

This afternoon I went to the shopping mall with my daughter and left logged here. No reason to ignore your messages man.

I´ll back up the files you told me and post for you to download. I´m going to do it right now.

Tell me about permission manually. Are you talking about the root:wheel or 0:0 that are kernel/drivers ownership permission levels???? I don´t know how to proceed with this. And if you say I could mess things up, I´ll need guidance. If there´s no problem for you.

@Mysticus.

Man, here are the links for the files you requested. ;)

In above message you say something about trial error. As you have the link to the files, I prefer that you take a look at it first and then you tell me what to do.

Hey Mysticus,

I got a problem. First, let me thank you for your support that you've been providing for all of us Nforce mobo users.

I followed your instructions and everything went fine no problem.

But. I'm using Mac OS X for 1 reason only: Final Cut Pro.

Wether I'm using iAtkos v1.0i r3 10.5.1 or 10.5.2 with the update you provided, my Final Cut just keeps crashing right after the Final Cut splash screen ends.

Final Cut has been working without issue on Tiger. So I made some research and it seems that the crash on Leopard seems to have something to do with the AppleSMBIOS.kext file. So I tried every different AppleSMBIOS.kext files I could find but always ended up with a blue screen and the desktop not booting up.

Maybe you have a solution :(

@weekender: there are two reasons to your problem on nforce chipsets. Main reason is you figured out already. I will bring two versions of smbios in an installer so you can try both to see which will solve your problem.. second reason is usually not limited to FC but large files, which is caused by 4 gb memory if you have... if you signature is correct, than dont worry about 4gb memory issue, however if you have 4 gb, take 2 gb off.... In a few mins I will write an installer for you for testing to see if it will help...

@breaking bad: I will take the files now and make you an installer as well for you to be able to update without problem, but I warn you that you will always have this trouble every time major updates comes and/or these problem files in any update... you have to be aware of the problem... until you solve your bios issues... now wait a bit I will make instructions for both of you...

@Breaking Bad:

I made instructions before about how to clone your working partition to another partition, but you may have not read it... it is on post#2 but dont worry about breaking osx, at the moment, it is ok to break it as much as you can until you get familiar and since it takes 10 mins to install, no problem at all... later you will be very familiar with what you choose... right now install the file with default options, in between kalyway and gfx update... let me know the result

EDIT: I forgot to tell you, in the installer, also choose 10.5.1 "AppleACPI" and "AppleAPIC" kexts (these two are your working ones aka bad bios patch) along with 10.5.2 "IOPlatformFamily Fixed" for SMC error ...

DOWNLOAD

@weekender: you will wait abit...

@weekender: This has both versions of smbios file (you are gonna use only one of them, first try using default one -- mac.nub version, and if it still causes problem restart and use the netkas's option in the installer this time) that you need to use... make sure you go to customize window to check what you are installing... also, the installer first backs up your current one to a root folder named/created "backups"

How-to test:

First run the installer and install default smbios (macnub version)

Restart, and test your FCP to see if it runs fine?

If it doesnt run fine, run the installer and go to customize, and choose the netkas version and deselect the mac.nub which is default..

Restart and test your FCP again,

if it still doesnt work, that means you have some other problems on your system, either from bios or some additional old drivers causing conflict or whatever... you may need to post your system.log... so we can see what is going on...

Ok, thanks a lot Mysticus. And yes, I do not have 4gb of ram, only 2gb.

I'm going to try it out right now :D Finger crossed ;)

Hi Mysticus.

I think I read the post you talk about cloning partitions and make it bootable, but as I didn´t need till this time, I didn´t gave much attenttion to that. My bad.

I´m downloading the file you sent me through the link and will apply it in a few moments. Right now I´m need to use my Vista because I´m working on Illustrator bcoz I had to hand some artwork till tomorrow. Just to know... i´m a graphic designer. :(

thnx for the file once again.

Just to check...

1st - Update with Kalyway

2nd - Apply the bad bios patch

? - at this step, do I change the 4 files for the 4 ones I backed up and sent to you, or I just need to apply SMC fix from the link??? please, let me know and the I run the GFX update

3rd - Run GFX update - standard install + VGA driver for my card with right RAM size + AppleACPI and AppleAPIC kexts

@breaking bad:

1) kalyway update first -- no restart

2) the file i sent you above download link, run the installer, choose "ACPI and APIC" from 10.5.1 and "platformfamily fixed" from 10.5.2, -- no restart

3) finally my gfx update and restart

and wait patiently... as you know the reasons... and let me know

for the cloning section forget about it for now... i will tell u when you have fully functioning system, and also it is good to get familiar with what problems you have so in the future u can solve them easier...

OK man.

I´m going to try it in a few minutes. Almost ending my artwork here. I´ll let you know every step I take with this installation.

Have downloaded the file and sent to my pendrive. ;)
