KALYWAY ALREADY! My iATKOS just got working with time machine and everything aghh when I get my MBP and put my data I'll sure try this one out

lol...

update news: taruga made new driver for some devices I think, that i heard, one of them is 1988b HD audio, with mic in and etc with volume control... :glare: hopefull it will work for many of you... details later...

still fingering my intel chipset... :P

EDIT: here is the new driver for 198B (aka HD Audio 1988B) (Working Lineout, Headphones, SPDIF and Mic )

hey CtodaG I have the same mouse problem when all cores are enabled, i have q6600 cpu. if only 1 cpus is enabled i dont get the mouse problem

tell me if you got new progress ok

just to shed a little litght on the mouse issue... another member had this problem earlier in his attempts, but after changing the network card, to netgear wifi that i mentioned on the first page second post, he never had the problem again after updating to 10.5.2...

edit: come to think of it, my guess is either network card, or the kernel/system.kext version matching issue which causes the usb not mounting issue as well? which i also mentioned in the first page post#2... so make sure you check your system.kext version and kernel versions... if you update to 10.5.2 using my files on the post#2 you should not have usb issue, but if you still have the mouse issue after updating to 10.5.2 using my files or carefully checking the kernel/system.kext versions, it may be down to network issue or gfx drivers are not yet stable enough... on nforce of course...

yea, i can confirm this problems are actually due to the lan.

i would got heavy lag of mouse and even freeze if i used 8139 ...

after i changing to Apple USB Ethernet, no freeze anymore but a little bit laggy sometimes,

no matter if i used the internet; :) hope someone could shed some light on this,

but i am just satisfied by now ...

thus, it's no freeze and no lag if i unplugged the NIC.

I hope I can find some help here I have been looking through the forums for weeks and I cant seem to find my answer. I may have just missed it but anyway Everything goes ok as far as the load goes but on reboot I get the blinking cursor I understand that this has somthing to do with the bootloader but I am to noob to figure out how to fix it.

Thanks for the help!!

ok i think i must admit that some hdds has trouble loading/installing bootloader from iAtkos r3... i cant call why, but i think equate played the lower level bit of the bootloader number, which i know he was playing around with... so solution, either try a brand new manual bootloader install, or try kalyway 10.5.2 which i posted instructions of how/where to get it, and how to install it on post#2... so i suggest getting 10.5.2 kalyway and try once again... sorry for inconvenience if it causes some minority amount of people in the topic... :)

pls dont be lazy, it takes only 10-15 mins to finish everything... I remember installing in 1-1.5-2 hrs... in old days :)

good luck...

These are the errors I´m getting when trying to install from Kalyway 10.5.2

• This is the error I get when using no flag like in the post - the error message appears so fast that there´s no lack of hope for installation to start. :P

1002459nn7.th.jpg

• So, facing this error, I tried using flag -v -x and the message that returned after the looping message of - IOATAController device blocking bus.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

These are my BIOS config.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I also tried using

kernel: kabylkernel without success.

So I ask, am I doing something wrong? Why I can´t even get to installation screen? Help wanted. :D

Hope to hear from somebody...

@br2akin

try to enable cpu execute-disable bit

disable legacy support and 1394

connect your hardisk as master, not SLAVE!!!

execute disable bit (EDB) = enabled :Dagreed

legacy and 1394 support: not sure you have to first enable EDB and continue that way, if it doesnt work still, then disable legacy and 1394 supports...

under nomal circumstances, slave master should not be a factor for booting... however some mobos/hdds can be pain to work with, MSI is one of them :) so although you can still work on slave, i would suggest to keep it as master to be sure...

If above still causes trouble, since you have MSI mobo (really painfull mobo), i would suggest you to go with iatkos r3 with eqate's patch for bad bios... get iatkos 1.0i and update it first to R2 and than apply r3 bad bios patch...

@ebaldazo: good luck with osx mate... welcome on the bus..

Allright, thanks for the input on the "mousefreeze" issue guys! I will try to get a hold of a netgear usb wireless and do a reinstall. I used the 8139 driver as well, so hopefully that is it.

For the issue with some HDD's not booting using iATKOS, I had the same problem. However, it would boot if i changed the bootloader from EFI to Darwin. But Kalyway is probably the preferred installdisc now.

+ make sure you read the post#2 for netgear adapter's correct version/model (bcoz i cant confirm others even if they would work... :hysterical:

+ For the HDD issue, like I said, it is either Equate fingered too much with the low level number or it may very well be the efi bootloader we used which is different than netkas's efi bootloader, which may be not compatible with as many bios/hdds...(bios/hdd compatibility is highly likely reason for the efi-made by kabyl- we used...)

+ MSI mobos/laptops and ASUS Laptops have known problem with any OSX Leopard version, which requires older acpi/apic files to be replaced with current ones, thats what equate's patch is about which is found by another forum member (sorry forgot the name)... it is not really a patch, it is a matter of replacing files... or

+ MSI OEMs/Asus Laptop users can find Kabyl's topic for modified bios for this problem's total removal... :) good luck...

Well I am having problems with my iATKOS install. I rebooted my leo install after the system froze and the mouse cursor is the only thing that is moving and interacting with me. When I booted back I had a slight delay in the boot time and noticed some errors: IOKitWaitQuiet blah blah blah and boot-cache error.

It does that and it takes a long time for leo to boot. anyways when i put in the iATKOS r3 dvd back and try to install a wierd thing happens and i get a message: still waiting for root device. I mean I am using nforce ata how come it wont see my hard drive. I dunno what is wrong i used to be able to boot with iATKOS DVD and my other leopard dvd but for some reason it wont let me. still waiting for root device

could you guys please help ASAP

have updated your bios or changed your bios settings recently? or have you damaged the dvd? or dvd rom? are the hdd cables connected and working?

Mystic C, That is really nice guide you provided. I have downloaded Kalyway 10.5.2 iso image. Burned the iso to DVD. Installation detects all the partitions available on my SATA HDD. Formated one of the 20GB partition with journled file system. Installation goes quite ok till the 4 minutes remaining and freezes there. I tried lots of combinations in package selection and also tried to reinstall on same partition without changing it, but not able to move ahead of the 4 minutes remaining mark. My system configuration is as under...

Processor:AMD Athlon 64 3200+

Motherboard:A8N-VM CSM

Network:onboard nforce 430

Grphics:onboard nvidia 6150

Audio: Onboard

RAM: 512MB

HDD:Hitachi SATA 80GB (20GB partiotn for osx installation)

Please guide me in case i am missing anything or if it is the know problem, is there any way to overcome the same.

I've read there has been some issues with the DVD-rom "falling asleep" during installation due to inactivity. Try to move your mouse-cursor around the screen every other minute during the installation. Hope this helps.

PS

Anyone gotten arount to test the new iATKOS v2 release? It was made available yesterday i think.

@chipwiz: i dont have experience on amd, so not much help apart from (like ctodag said) dvdrom sleep issue... it happens after 4-5 mins of inactivity on mouse or keyboard... the solution is stupid enough but :) you have to move mouse around and click empty areas every 3-4 mins intervals... if this is the case, it should be fine :) however you may have some other issues may be related to different things... like my guide/suggestiong on the post#2 is for intel cpus... so I guess you are clever enough to figure out choosing correct kernel and amd patches section? :) good luck...

@bluedogmike: your welcome mate, welcome on the bus...

@kilopop: i cant recall why it would not work unless you changed any bios settings or damaged dvd? or wrong dvd (instead of 10.5.2 maybe you are using 10.5.1 which also contains nforce driver but is not compatible with many h/w s? try changing the hdd/dvdrom ports to another channel/port however you are familar terminology with...

@ctodag: i didnt try it yet, when i do, it would not be helpful since i changed my mobo :) but I will try to get it and tell everyone how to use it and what to choose on it before/duing boot/install like for Kalyway...

good luck everyone...

@muitommyBefore reading here, I tried installing the Kalyway using LOAD OPTMIZED settings on my BIOS.For this images, I used flags like: -x cpus=1 (I know this flag is not mentioned in the step by step installation, but I´m trying since I can´t get to installation screen, so I´m trying as many possibilities as I can) also tried this LOAD FAIL-SAFE config in BIOS. 195ka8.jpg194ix3.jpg[ ]´sP.S. - I´ll try again using the new configurations you sent me in previous post.

@Mysticus man...I´ll try this config for my mobo. I really want to install this OSX in my rig but sometimes it seems that OSX don´t want to be installed in my machine. :P I played the "trumpet" for Kalyway 10.5.2 from RapidShare folder and I´m now downloading iATKOS R3, since the kalyway didn´t work for me. Don´t know why really. Everytime I try to boot using -v flag I get this errors and get stuck to that page:194ix3.jpgAbout the iATKOS R2 patched with equates + bad bios patches, I´ve already tried - not using that BIOS config you and muitommy told me today - but seem not to work for me. Maybe my mobo doesn´t like OSX. LOL. But I´ll keep trying. I´m not the guy who gives up so ez. thnx again man.[ ]´s

the new iatkos v2 should not make any difference, but you could try ...have you tried to disable all the lan things(e.g. onboard lan, NIC) during installations? and use cpus=1 also.

i'm quite sure your mobo should WORK!!!cus there was a old guide that was written specifically for your mobo, check this thread: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=73199only follow the BIOS settings part and use mysticus guide :P gd luck

@muitommy

I used the config about the EDB and 1394 and worked.

The problem I´m facing now is that my HD is not seen by the OSX.

And I´m using the iATKOS R2 (patched to equates1 + badbios). Really strange for me because I installed the Leo4all V2 in this HD before with "no problems".

You sent me an thread using a P6N SLi from .NetRoller (with whom I already talk to) but he told me is that a old version of ToH RC2. He discouraged me to use that version.

That´s all by now.
