i want you to boot to backup using -v -x cpus=1 again,

-v to see to problems during boot

-x to ignore some drivers so it can boot

cpus=1 bcoz either kernel or acpi causing the kernel panic, so cpus=1 will/should work...

now to find out, we will test

no need to use restore as it can boot still, restore only when you cant boot...

TEST #2

======

10.5.1

=====

AppleACPI

AppleAPIC

IOACPIFamily

10.5.2

=====

IOPCIFamily

IOPlatform ... fixed

Try this combination using the customize button pls... do not just press continue/next.. ok? must use customize button to choose these... since you updated to 10.5.2 already no need to use kalyway n gfx update again, ok? only the test installer...

OK.

Gonna try it again in a few moments.

Just sending artwork to a client so he can print it out. :)

P.S. - In an earlier post, you told something about getting my bios fixed. How can we do that? How this works? Please, explain me what happens when you get your BIOS fixed. :huh:

@Mysticus

TEST #2 - Results

-----------------------------------

- Flag: cpus=1 -v // Result: hangs at the same screen as test #1 (kernel version 9.2.0)

- Flag: -v -x // Result: same as test #1 (restarts)

- Flag: cpus=1 -v -x // Result: same as test #1 (boots normally but with that little lines on the screen - like "screen trash")

-----------------------------------

Didn´t post any screens because they´re all the same. I checked. ;)

FYI -  Do you remmeber that OSX couldn´t recognizes my IDE ATA HDD ?? Now it recognizes all the time and the system names it UNTITLED. Kinda funny, huh? I´m still using PS/2 mouse & keyboard - Microsoft didn´t return me a new one yet. RAM memory only working with 2 sticks in Dual-Channel. Tried booting with Onboard LAN: enabled and it boots fine using the flag: cpus=1 -v -x (but for all the tests results, it was turned off).

Gonna try it right now.

In a few minutes I´ll post the results.

@Mysticus.

Man, same results using only the 10.5.1 files.

No difference at all.

What´s my next test ??? Just waiting for you to tell me what to do.

Thnx.

lets change the kernel and see what will it do...

go to post#2 and check frequent problem title, and find usb problem, download the usb fix...

run the installer, and install only kabyl 9.2.0 kernel+system.kext uncheck all others... and keep same 10.5.1 settings...

lets see if it is gonna make any difference... in the mean time, have you got your bios patched by kabyl?

Hi mate.

Downloading installer.

Just one thing didn´t get clear for me. After running this USB installer, I have to run the package with 10.5.1 and 10.5.2 but only choosing the 10.5.1 files, correct???

About my BIOS patched, I got no answer from Kabyl that time I tried to talk to him. So, I have no patch to my BIOS. :)

That´s the results for our last test.

No changes at all. Everything stays the same.

Waiting on you.

@muitommy

Do you still have contact with Kabyl at mirc channels?

If yes, could you please talk to him about my problem with the BIOS and try to get me a patched BIOS? By the time I tried to talk to him, got no answer back. :)

[]´s

what you can do right now is either use 10.5.1 as it is and install only nvinject (from my gfx update package folder, you should see nvinject standalone installer as well, just install nvinject...) and wait for your bios update... something is not right on your mobo with acpi... i cant say what/which, it is not just kernel, all kernels will give same results, it is related to acpi, every single error points to it...

you got to get your bios fixed first before you can continue for anything else... or stick to 10.5.1..

OK.

I´ll try to talk to Kabyl once again to make me a modified BIOS. I don´t think I´ll succed because as muitommy told me once, Kabyl is not much into forum. He prefers to use irc channels. I don´t use irc for a long time. Do you have any contact with him?? I know you´re already giving me help but as you two are legends here, maybe he´d give you more attention than me... ;)

Mysticus, I have here one file of Golden Kernel, do you think it could help me in anyway??? I know that you don´t believe it´s a kernel problem, but as in trial basis, you could experiment it, whatever... I don´t know what to think... LOL. It´s my anxiety of getting everything running fine. :blink:

[]´s

what you call golden kernel is Kabyl's Kernel, and you tried already on 10.5.2... using USB fix file...

you definetely need to get your bios fixed by Kabyl, bcoz he is gonna arrange your acpi tables and some other things that needs to be replaced, hopefully you wont need to worry about bad bios patches or anytg as long as you stick to the patched bios... (meaning no bios update or before update you need to give it to kabyl to patch it...)

afterwards you should not have these stupid problems...

OK Mysticus.

Talked to muitommy and he told me that I´m already on Kabyl´s waiting list to get a modified BIOS for my mobo. So, the only thing to do now is wait. Until that, I´m going to make a fresh install of Leopard, installs nvinject only and run the system to get familirized with it. I´ll run the system to see if it shows any other problems, like freezing, mouse problems, and this kinda things. Thank you a lot man. I couldn´t get this far on OSX installation without your help.

To make LAN works, do you think an D-Link ethernet should go fine with OSX??? I´ll post the modelo of my LAN card for you to see if there´s any chance to get it working on Leo. :rolleyes:

First off, this thread is amazing, day 3 of reading it, don't know how long it'll take me to finish. However I have a few problems I have been completely unable to find answers to, I have been searching for a week, and I can't find anything to help.

iAtkos 2.0i = install can't even begin. After disk check, it says "calculating" for how much time is left, and about 3-5 minutes into that (about 5 cm progress on bar) I get an error saying "Could not validate '10.5.2 Intel' Package" restart and try again. (this is with every flag combination I could think of, no change)

Kalyway=install goes perfectly up until 3 minutes left, about 80% progress finished. Yellow triangle error saying "Could not validate 'java tools' package" restart and try again. Installer log said it happened when it got to installing iChat the last time I checked. But it varies between "java tools" and "java" package. Same time into the installation each time though. I am currently downloading iAtkos 1.0 rc3 (hopefully the torrent is correct md5 as rapidshare would take too long, and I can't afford premium account at the moment).

Mysticus if you, or anyone reading this knows how to help me at least complete an installation then please help me. I will continue reading as I have been doing. But almost all users problems are post-installation, I feel like the only one who encounters errors during installation. :rolleyes:

PS: During DVD boot, during the verbose message stream while booting into the OSX installer. I get numerous message about "The system is having trouble enumerating a USB device that has been plugged in. It will keep retrying"

^^ I get this message numerous times, and then the installer opens up and everything works fine (until install).

Could the problems be related?

Thank you in advance for your replies, hopefully I can get into the much better documented problems that occur POST installation :)

Hi cigarettes.

Why don´t you try iATKOS R3?

This version is more friendly to your chipset.

Look at post #2 for the trumpet and play it hard. :unsure:

If you´re following this thread, you´ll see that Mysticus - one guy who understands what he says - told that iATKOS 2.0i is kinda buggy so, the recommendations is to use the 1.0i R3 version.

Try this one an post your results here.

I hope to help you.

@Mysticus

This card of mine, the D-Link one is not Wi-Fi. It´s a pci card that I bought when my onboard LAN from my old mobo stopped working. This card is to be used via cable. LOL. Sounds old, huh?

if you got cannot validate problems, you probably there're some prob. with your file burning.

:thumbsup_anim: i guess you burn it again with a SLOW speedm like 2x with solve the problems.

validation errors relates to high speed burning, for osx dvds, you should not burn any faster than 4x, ideally 4x or less speeds... try to burn your iso again like mui said, and try again, also make sure you read the kalyway install guide at the bottom part... i suggest you to try Kalyway since it has all the updates, and also Nforce friendly as well... But make sure you read the kalyway guide on the bottom of the post#2... for customize window...

after kalyway is done with the correct settings selected, in the first boot, after creatin accounts, download the package in the USB not mounting error title, and use the customize window on it, and keep only 9.2.0 system.kext only and diselect the IOUSBFamily... ok? thats all you need to do thats it... the reason for it is already explained but here again, kalyway installs 9.2.0 kernel but 9.2.2 system.kext which causes the famous usb not mounting error...

good luck...

Note: I posted this on the peripheral Forum, but this is probably a better spot:

Hello All,

I have a frustrating problem I'm hoping someone can help me with.

My mouse freezes randomly when using OSX. At first it will go weird, Up is down, down is up etc . . . then it will freeze completely. The KB will continue to work as well as the rest of the system.

I can also reproduce this problem by trying to copy a large file (100GB or so) to an External 500GB HD connected via E-SATA using a Silicon Image 3132 chipset. During the file transfer, the copy operation will eventually freeze, as well as the mouse. This can happen after 800MB is copied or 60GB, it's completely random.

Things I've tried:

Disable Legacy USB.

Leave only 2GB Memory on board (tried a combination of slots and sticks)

the USB Mount fix 1.3 that Mysticus has posted on his Nforce installation guide.

Installing Kalyway 10.5.2 with and without the PCGENUsb fix.

Avoiding USB mice all together by connecting my Logitech G5 mouse to PS2 by using a USB to PS2 converter (it's a purple KB converter, but I don't think this will make a difference). Connecting to PS2 my mouse would not work at all. To resolve this I tried to remove the ApplePs2Mouse kext, creating an /etc/rc file that would load and unload kext. None of this would let my mouse work via PS2.

I also tried an Apple Mighty Mouse, still no go.

Any help would be greatly greatly appreciated.

P.S.: I'm very sorry if this topic has been covered elsewhere, but I did research it and haven't found a solution yet.

Hardware is in my Sig.

First off, thank you for replying. Breaking b4d, and mui as well. I probably should have mentioned this in my first post, but the first thing I changed when kalyway installed was my burn speed, I have burned at 2.4x (the slowest speed possible in alcohol) for every OSX iso I have made since, I have a stack of 9 here ;)

I actually am guessing now that alcohol is causing the problems, I have nero, but I didn't bother using it due to hearing the bad reviews of its OSX86 dvd burning, and many people suggest alcohol as working software. (I had been reading for 3 days before I even burned my first disc to attempt an install, so I could prevent/solve any errors I encountered in the process, however the most unexpected problems are always the ones causing the most trouble, and most people get this solved quickly, so I am just unlucky, going on a week+ of validation errors, despite my burn speed/program/dvd+r's.

About r3, I am currently downloading, only 33% going 15 kB/s so it may take a while. I am also grabbing a torrent of ToH RC2, as I have seen success on my board/chipset with this release as well. Until these finish I am going to just continue reading/troubleshooting my problems, and of course memorizing every possible error that could go wrong after the post-install reboot, so I can get leo up and running, get my 8800 gtx working, and maybe (fingers crossed....) with a lot of luck, have my on board lan work.

I havent seen anything for creative x-fi drivers, as I have an x-fi sound card, I am not anticipating getting sound any time soon out of leo. Although admittedly I have not been looking for them at all.

thank you guys, I'll stick around this thread until the iso's are finished burning and then try my luck and report back.

PS: What does everyone use to check md5's? Alcohol doesn't seem to have that option, so I google'd a free little app that checks/creates ISO's. I haven't had one show up as matching yet though, so I don't know if I trust it. Thanks again.

@cigarettes: it may very well be the burning software as well... i would suggest you to check md5 as well before and after burning... (google accuhash== use tools/ hash calculator== not many programs calculate correct md5)

you can get on board audio to run quite well, what HD audio model is it? 889? 198b? which one? but x-fi would be dream right now...

also one intresting thing is that never heard of 2.4 x write speed on normal form dvdrw... only on slim types for laptops...?

@abethegeek: my best guess would be to look for network cards... one member had this problem constantly, and once he changed his network card (to one of the ones i suggested on the post#2 regarding network issues) the problem disappeared... i cant say what/where the connection is, but it just disappeared...

check your bios for:

disable : on board lan

enable : execute disable bit

hpet doesnt matter

ahci for sata ports

s3 for acpi suspend mode

and 2 gb is definetely the only way to prevent random freezing (it causes problem with pata/sata controller driver== nforceata by medevil)

good luck...

Thank you for the fast reply, I really appreciate it, Just to make sure I understand what you're saying:

1. For Random Kernel Panics, Remove 2GB of RAM. Do I have to physically remove them or does maxmem=2048 work ok? What about for 3GB of RAM?

2. When I remove 2GB of RAM from my Machine, it reports 677MHZ vs. 800MHZ with 4GB is this because it's no longer dual channel?

3. The freezing could be related to the network card (I'm using a Netgear GA311, based on RT8169s)? Even though it freezes when copying from HD to HD, no LAN involved?

Thanks again for your help.

1) correct: however i suggest removin the 2 gb physically... bios can act funny sometimes...

2) when you remove 2gb remove the same color slots... there shouldbe two different color pairs... (say 2 yellow 2 red, each represent dual channels... so what you do is removing red ones, and leaving yellow ones inside... it will leave dual channel in-tact... what? you need to understand first what dual channel is... 667mhz means 2x 333.33 mhz completing to 667 or 800mhz 2x400 mhz ... when used in the same color slots... most of the time, they are odd numbers 1)yellow, 2)red, 3)yellow, 4)red so it would be 1-3 slots or 2-4 slots would work dual channel... if you used 1-2-3, it would be single channel, it has to be 1-3, or 2-4 or all of them... ==rarely some mobos use same colors next to each other, in that case to be sure, read the manual guide, usually there will be a table showing how it works...)

3) mouse freezing (in my guess) related to network drivers... since it was replaced with another one, it removed the issue for 1 member (i m sure) and one or couple more as well? i think, i dont remember everyone right now.... it was not a common problem, but couple of people had it, and i know one person got rid of it after network card changed...

before you try anything, start reading post#1 and post#2... why da heck people immidiately jump to last page and start posting with couple of mins experience of installation trials...

before you post something, you have to read around first to see if your question is answered or not? secondly before you post to a topic, you need to find out if you qualify for that topic to post?....

for god sake, i hate stupid people... more and more everyday... they spam the forums with useless thousands of posts... dont read a {censored}, and jump on any popular/active topic, and go to last page and start wasting space...

.....

Hi Mysticus ,

Thanks for you help , Can you please guid me to the post where you have mentioned reagding Bliking Cursor problem , this is what i can see is this the same .
