what do i need to tell you more for you to understand you are on the wrong topic to ask for solution to your problem?

you are in the wrong topic! god knows what have you installed how you installed... search the forum to find correct topic for your laptop and related to subjects...

Hi Mysticus.

As I posted before about my LAN card the model is: DFE-520TX from D-Link.

Any chance of getting it to work on Leo??

Altough I have my onboard lan that is a Realtek RTL8211BL. Should I try using it? Could you guide trough this attempt of making work?

thnx in advance.

P.S. - While I don´t get my modified BIOS from Kabyl, I´m trying to make somethings work. Mainly to know the system works and get familiarized with it. ;)

i m not familiar with either one of the cards... so no help there... only ones i know that works, are on post#2...

I took a look on the forum, and read that some people are able to make it work with via rhine 2 drivers.

I was looking D-Link site, and it says that this LAN card is supported by Macintosh 10.2.

Any chance to get it working only connecting it to PCI slot ??? I´m not so sure. LOL. But I´ll try it.

I´m trying to get via rhine drivers.

Tell you what happens in a while.

[]´s

via rhine drivers should be in my gfx update package if i m not wrong...

REALLY??

I´ll check it later. If you put in a file of your own, I trust. ;) and know it works.

I tried the driver that comes with the LAN card, but seem not to work. I tried and got no response at all. In fact, I don´t know how to check if the card was installed really. :dev: How the system didn´t recognizes, I´m assuming it doesn´t installed. ;)

P.S. - Office 2008 is working fine in my system. I´m amazed with its speed. I´m imagining my rig working with 4 cores. Will be a crazy rig. ;)

You´re right man. You got on your GFX update the 2 drivers I want. FORCEDETH and VIA RHINE. As soon as I finish one little work here, I´m gonna try them. ;)

@cigarettes: it may very well be the burning software as well... i would suggest you to check md5 as well before and after burning... (google accuhash== use tools/ hash calculator== not many programs calculate correct md5)

you can get on board audio to run quite well, what HD audio model is it? 889? 198b? which one? but x-fi would be dream right now...

also one intresting thing is that never heard of 2.4 x write speed on normal form dvdrw... only on slim types for laptops...?

the onboard audio is a small sound card that fits into its own pci-e slot on the mobo (same one that comes on all RoG Asus boards now). Supremefx something. I am letting a friend use mine currently as his board was just the board, no cords, software, manuals etc. He needed sound, and I didn't need it.

Thanks for the advice on the md5 checker, I'll check it out. And 2.4x speed was weird to me as well, first time I ever saw it, only alcohol has it for me

Does anyone have any good recording software they have had 100% success with? I have nero, but once again I've heard it messes up OSX DVD's often. Thank you everyone in advance.

I USE NERO FOR ALL MY OSX DVDS and never had any issue at ALL!!! it is not nero, it is the dvd writer or the media you use...

try forcedeth on your own risk, it may cause stability issues... just to warn you..

Wow.

It´s incredible how incompatible the forcedeth it to my rig.

Just installed it and when I closed the installation window my mouse pointer start gone crazy. LOL.

I already tried using that badbios patch you sent me once after Kalyway and the SMC fix and before the GFX update but w/o success. Get stuck at same kernel 9.20 warningi. My mobo BIOS really sux with OSX. :) Only get it to work fine - I wish - when Kabyl´s get my modified BIOS. Until that, I don´t think I would be able to get it working like a charm.

Even my D-Link ethernet adapter, that comes with an CD with macOSX 10.2 driver, works for me.

I´m trying to get it to work, so I´ll look after information on the forum to see what I can get. I got one code for the installation of DFE-520TX (the model of my LAN ethernet adapter) but the explanation in how to apply it was a little bit confusing for me.

But it´s ok. I´m having fun and learning with all that stuff.

Damn...I only have 2 blank DVD's left. I am pretty sure it's not the burner, it is a Sony dru-810a, fairly recent, its IDE, and it has always copied DVD's perfectly for me. I am going to try nero for 1.0 r3, it just finished downloading. Will post back shortly with success/failure.

iAtkos r3 installed without any errors! I however get the blinking cursor upon boot. No big deal, I am looking up the solution to this problem atm, gparted livecd is about to finish DL, and I am going to set the partition active, and see if that fixes it. I formatted MBR the first time. Got blinking cursor, I tried again, just to see if I had more success with GUID, I actually get a b0 error (i think thats what it was. If not it was VERY similar), I am looking up this as well.

I have run into a problem though, however it's a personal problem of only 1 more blank disc, and knowing once leopard works, my internet will not. So will writing the 10.5.2 update+gfx package files to the disc (drag and drop method) work for moving the files to OSX?

#cigarettes: I suggest doing couple of things...

1) if you dont have much to loose on your hdd, make full clean install... and get ready for preparing the system for multi boot

how?

when in the installer, use disk utility to repartition the whole hdd... I suggest using 4 partition scheme...

1-osx journaled 2-osx journaled 3-dos 4-dos

1-2 for main and back up or main and test system

3-4 for windows and/or for linux whatever...

I know that high speed hdds (raptor etc...) have bootloader problem with the scripts used in iatkos which is different than other dvds...

I would try this and see if it will fix it... I doubt it will, so what i can suggest you next is to

2) try Kalyway 10.5.2. Because it has normal bootloader scripts and efi bootloader from netkas... (iatkos has different efi)

everything you need is on the post#2... Good Luck...

Just real quick:

I have a 320G HD that has two OS X partition on it. When I boot Darwin gives me the option of booting from either one, with the first partition being the default. While diagnosing my previous problems, I think I must have Legacy USB turned off (even though there are no ownership problems). But now, I can't select the second partition since my KB doesn't work until I'm already in the OS. Any Ideas on how I can boot to that second partition? I don't want to delete the first (test) partition just yet.

Thanks as always.

well check your bios for:

enable legacy usb support (for usb cd/dvdrom hdd etc... devices)

enable usb mouse and keyboard

find the settings in bios should fix the issue...

@MYSTICUS:

Hi mate.

Just FYI:

I plugged my LAN ethernet adapter in a fresh install of Leo, and I couldn´t boot. It hangs in a screen that says: "localhost /usr/sbin/ocspd[77]: starting"

Any idea of what could be??? If yes, tell me, please.

MAN, I´M ONLINE USING SAFARI FROM MY LEO SYSTEM.

DFE-520TX definitly works for Leo using the ViaRhine.kext I got here.

What a wonderful progress.

And the best thing, I made it all alone. I`m getting very familiarized with OSX.

Mysticus, I was looking for some info on QE/CI and discovered that QE = Quartz Extreme and CI = Core Image. Now, the thing that really matters... how it works? I see here in my mac info that mine QE/CI - qe=compatible and ci=accelerated hardware. What does that mean? The info i found here in the forum is not clear about it.

instead of keep asking every other discovery you make onyour system, why dont you use google to find answers... just make a habit of reading and learning on your own, if you do it on your own, you will learn better... stop posting every other minute, it is a waste of space... just read around and learn by yourself...

there is no one around here to teach you everything... people show you the way, you figure out the rest...

Hmm. I have been installing onto my 40gb IDE drive, The drive isn't used for anything else so it has been a clean install, however only 1 partition. I am buying another pack of blank DVD's tonight, and can't really do anything until then, as I am out.

Well, I have successfully booted into Leopard! I am working on updating to 10.5.2, and getting graphics working. It is a huge pain in the ass to have to swap IDE cables from my 200gb to the 40gb HD's every time I wanna go from vista to OSX. And I am still very low on blank discs (still only have the 1 dvd).

Thank you so much Mysticus, without this thread, I would not have gotten OSX to work properly.

Does anyone know which drivers work for the striker extreme? I think I have heard of someone getting on board to work, I will keep searching, but I wanted to put this out there in case it was stumbled across by someone who did get it to work.

+ only on board LAN will be a problem, which will not work correctly, read post#2 (in fact always read post#2 regarding anything installing OSX, problems suggestions are always there...) regarding LAN problems and suggestions...

+ on board sound should work fine, however you need to let us know what your device id for you sound card...

also, you dont need to switch cables to switch to OSX, just learn dual booting, using vista + chain0 file... all you need is to add chain0 to vista's bootloader

chain0 is in the dvd's root folder which you will see if you open the dvd on vista's explorer, how to add is another issue, but here is a tip for you, use a program called EasyBCD...

good luck...

Thanks Mysticus, I have tried every version of leopard 10.5 and non of them would load on my machine, this one installed per your instructions and booted the first time no problem. With a few tweaks I have everything working except Quartz Extreme and I am working on that. Thanks for the Trumpets.

@everyone: I wanna share a PM I am receiving from one member, who I will not name, but reveal the message so if anyone want to answer this kind of message, please do so, because I cant help being annoyed of people who doesnt know the most basic things but try to do an install... I am telling this person (he knows who I am talking, so telling you from here that I will not waste my time teaching you the most basic stuffs... dont PM me anymore with this kind of questions, because I know you are gonna be even more annoying in the follow up problems...)

Here is the message:

"I have a rar program and I am using Magic ISO. I don't understand if you want us to make 1 ISO disk with all the rar files on it.

I am downloading the Kalayway 10.5.2 rar files from RS and when I extracted the first rar it had install instructions but no further instructions on how to burn one ISO of all rar files or to burn 38 separate ISO disks (i don't think this is what you intended). So, If we are to make one ISO which rar should we extract that has boot information on it?

Completely lost at this point. Sorry for the ignorance. I read the rest of your tutorial, but nothing covers this initial part."

Anyone wanna answer please do so, because I will not answer more questions from this person... If he asks this kind of questions...

So... is this only for nForce users od it will work on my Asus P5B Delux motherboard...?

S@

all the mentioned distros will work on your system, however dont expect support for your system on this topic, use the trumpets on your own risk andability... do not ask any more questions regarding how to install it on your system... good luck...

well. I am in leopard. I have video card drivers, and I have on board lan working............I installed the nforce ethernet driver I found in this thread, and on reboot it was recognized and working, no problem!!! I am absolutely amazed right now, this is incredible! Now my only question is whether EFI is working, and when I say EFI, I mean the official updates from apple, etc.

I am having a problem unpacking the 10.5.2 update and the gfx update, it says "unable to unarchive "kalywayupdcombo10.5.2.zip" into "desktop". (Error 1 - Operation not permitted) I feel like this is an "is it plugged in" error. But I am fairly new to the workings of OSX.

Thank you so much mysticus!!
