I´m formatting my IDE HD tomorrow.The only thing I don´t understand by now, is that I´m not able to start without using all the cores of my C2Q. Why is that if iATKOS R2 (patched to equates1 + badBIOS) should work all cores? I tried so many different versions - Leo4all (v2 and v3) - TOH RC2 - Kalyway 10.5.2 - iATKOS (R2 and R3) wihtout success. Unfortunately I don´t know what happens because a lot of people is using OSX into their rigs and I just can´t. It very sad for me but that´s life. Some wins, some looses. I´m not saying that I´m a looser, but after all that tries, I´m a little bit sad. It´s normal. I know that in a near future I´ll try it all again and who knows with success this time? @Mysticus - Thank you a lot man for all the information you provide me. You´re such a great guy. @muitommy - Thnx for you too. I think I annoyed you a little to much. LOL. As I´m downloading the iATKOS R3 from RapidShare yet, maybe I´ll try it in while. Mysticus C* Posted May 12, 2008 Author Share Posted May 12, 2008 information is always post here, or on post#2 check the relevant sections... for osx... i dont know why it doesnt work... but smc problem will be solved in r3, i can assure you that bcoz smc is caused by the wrong file (meaning wrong not damaged, version that doesnt work on all chipsets... esp old one... r3 uses older more old friendly version cant guarantee about hdd being recognized but it should, bcoz u ve old chipset, should include the ids already...) i would suggest you to start fresh and make totally new installation with new partitioning choose 3 partition scheme 1 osx1 40 gb (main= osx journalled) 2 osx2 40gb (back up purpose = osx journalled) 3 share (rest of the hdd for easy transfering files between windows and osx, can be used for downloads as well = dos,fat32) good luck... Take a look here dont try to do anything from windows... just use osx's disk utility for partitioning... there was no way for iatkos to recognize it? you mean r3? or previous iatkos versions? 1.0 i r2? @ctodag: the mobo has nothing to do with noise level... neither the case itself... but you should check your PSU and fans on any cooling parts... for example my ati card's fan is the noisiest thing ever you would come, not to mentione the jet engine sound fx it makes when you play with it a bit,... the gigabyte card i m using is quite good, but depending on your needs just check other mobos as well, the reason i choosed this is bcoz of flexibility and ram choises it provides... it works both on ddr2 to 1333, and ddr3 1200mhz and fsb of up to 1600mhz... and everything on this mobo works... however there is one extra controller on this and many others called jmicron... which is pain in da arse... although it works, it has problem in 64 bit with 4 gb ram... sounds familiar? all in all it works quite well but make sure you dont buy ide hdd/dvd on this mobo and dont use the extra last two sata ports which are on jmicron controller... this mobo has 6 sata (intel) + 2 sata + 1 pata port (jmicron).... i wouldnt suggest to have more than 5 hdd + 1 dvd rom (all sata) or 2 dvdroms and 4 hdds (all sata on intel controller)... well the reason i m saying this is bcoz i already have 6 hdds ~ 2 TB space... luckily i have extra usb enclosures so i can still use them... there are many guides out there already but i will definetelly make one for this mobo... or just will place screen shot of what to be choosen like i did for kalyway one... Mysticus C* Posted May 13, 2008 Author Share Posted May 13, 2008 i will check it out, but first i am gonna make new installer for some guys in another topic for USB not mounting issue it is funny that it became more frequent now because Kalyway made many options selected by default (and i think he made some genuinue mistake of letting sleep kernel 9.2.0 and system.kext 9.2.2 as default and more interestingly there is a very little amount of people who has usb2 problem and he made pcgenusb2 which breaks working systems...) and many people dont read around, so i helped them out bcoz they were trying to load some scripts at boot to solve the problem anyways i will be back soon for the bios issue... Now I have all the parts here in my notebook and I´m going to record the iso to a dvd disc.[]´sI will make a a test driver for your pata drive... with appleviaata to see if it will take it or not... tomorrow...also can you confirm your bios settings? pls take a screen cap of your each bios menu... for us to see what settings are meddling... esp the ones with related to controllers... to see if there is any mode change like sata port work on native ide, instead of ahci? or things like that... any settings related to your controller(s)...OK. DotComBoyUK Posted May 13, 2008 Share Posted May 13, 2008 Hi, So I have my system stable (Its been running all week) encoding Films for AppleTV and allowing me to play with Virtubox I had to set maxmem=3072 to stop the random crashes but I can live with that until I can afford a new motherboard. I have one issue at the moment that has me confused. TimeMachine will not backup due to not being able to find the device. I have tried a new IONetworking.kext but that hasn't worked has anybody else found this issue?
