parm289
Hey everyone: I would just like to add that I now have osx86 working. All i had to do was install it on a usb hd on a different computer and do some kext hacking, and it works perfectly, using mysticus' iatkos r3. Thanks for the help. Mysticus C*
I've had to do that also. Shame.. I recently bought 2 sticks of 1Gb ram unfortunatelly... i have to do the same... i cant really call why it is happening, but guessing it has to do with chipset's memory handling... bcoz wheter most of you know or not, 64bit OSs can use higher RAM capacities but since majority of the programs are in 32 bit mode (windows 64 bit has similar problems as well, you may say oh it windows buggy... etc, but it is not windows' fault entirely, it is OEMs who manufacture and write drivers for the systems... when it comes to 64 bit, most companies are lazy... and dont do a good job... dont be so proud that apple dont have it, only bcoz it uses one chipset and one type of cpu, etc and everything is controlled/limited by apple, I can guarantee if they were open, it would have teh same problems...), so still cant cope with more than 3 gb memory correcly, especially chipsets has special fixes for this memory issue, but since nforce is not a standard/original mac compatible chipset, you have to accept the fact and be glad to at least be able to install and run... cheers... CtodaG
Hi, I have heard good things about OS X, and I want to try it. When i found out it is possible to install it on a regular computer, my computer, i became very exited. I've read first posts a couple of times, and i've read some of the topic i generel. As you can see i my signature I only have Sata disks. I was thinking of installing OS X on my 160 GB Sata. If I understood it correctly I can use Sata, but it's more safe with IDE? I think my DVD-rom is IDE, but i'm not 100% sure. Where can I check if it is IDE or not? I have downloaded iATKOS_v1.0ir2.iso , how can I patch this to the right version? I want to have a dualboot with Vista Home Premium 64-bit, which is installed on my computer now. Is my system compatible like it is now? jofman101190
Can someone PM me the IRC channel where i can find JUST the kernels, or PM the kernels themselves, for the nForce chipset? I'm stuck using one core, and it's pretty worthless. On a side note, if i download the iATKOS and patch it like said, and install over the partition i have now, will that erase all my program data? I know that when i updated to leopard from tiger on a MBP it kept all of the applications and files. Just wanted to know. I'm running kalyway, but i assume just using the kernel from r3 should fix my problem? Correct me if i'm wrong Thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/87901-nforce-chipsets-how-to-install-leo-easy-and-fast-with-iatkos-v10i-r3-nforce-edition-or-kalyway-1052-dvd/page/45/#findComment-727876 Share on other sites

Thanks for a quick reply (and a great guide)! I know the differnce between IDE and Sata, but it has been so long since i build my computer, and i don't remember if I used Sata or IDE on the DVD-RW. But i opened my computer up, and it is IDE (woho!). I managed to install 10.4.7 om my Inspiron 6000, but with no wifi-support and 1280x800 instead of 1680x1050, i'll stick with XP on that and save up for a Macbook. So I hope i'll have better luck with my desktop. They included nforce drivers in the dvd... With this release of Kalyway, my sleep function works as well... I guess sleep is effected by the iatkos's efi version which is different than the netkas's efi version...I m going to make a quick HOW-TO install guide for Kalyway 10.5.2 on NForce. later today... using steps are pretty much same as in my guide on post#2 but there are different customize settings there which you may need to change some...here is a quick screen shot (note that I changed some icons using candybar already)http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/1542/picture1vb2.png You ever get around to this guide? jofman101190
Has anyone had a successful install with both cores on the Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz with the nforce 4 chipset, specifically the nForce 570 SLI-T A motherboard from ECS? Did you ever read a single line on page#1? specially post#1 and #2?all the information you need is there... but just learn to read it correctly and if you understand it correctly... calm down, if you're going to head this board keep a level head. I'm asking about this SPECIFIC motherboard, most of the posts here involve asus mobos or the 680i nForce by ECS and others. I have read the first two pages, and specifically there is nothing about MY mobo. I have tried quite a lot, including MANY kernels and looked over other forums to see if there were problems. So IF you have this mobo and have had a successful install using this DVD let me know your method. I KNOW others have installed with nForce chipsets, but THIS one in particular. Thanks for the help, and sorry mysticus if you misunderstood my intentions. Refrain from saying you hate someone, its not worth it to taint your post: its a wonderful guide.
