Thxz for the release! r3 rocks. However, I have a problem The install works fine, no extra options needed! But when I get into the first movie after the whole install is completed my screen is just scrambelled. I cant see what i am doing because i can not see it properly. I have the Aopen G945i-Mt with the GMA X3100 onboard graphics. My screen is a 22" widescreen TFT panel. Do you know how i can solve this?

 

this dvd doesnt have 3100 drivers so you need to search the forum to find the drivers...

 

you can boot with -v -x, it should get you to the gui in safe mode with framebuffer...

 

but when you are in gui, you can make the account, and install drivers u may find from forum...

 

One last thing is that, you are missing hardware profile on your signature and I doubt that you have nforce chipset at all... never heard of gma and nforce together...

installed your graphics installer myst, On restart booting takes much longer and it eventualy gives up just having the loading symbol rotate and then the restart message.Trying -v now to see whats upOk -V stops working after a few mins and stops at this

i hope you are doing the install after 10.5.2 system update? bcoz official gfx update is applied to 10.5.2 systems...

I found one totally official driver (non patched by anyone) that support RTL 8139, trying it right now and looks ok hope it doesnt give up

try at your own risk, and remove any 8139 driver previously installed (PCGenRTL8139Ethernet.kext or AppleRTL8139Ethernet.kext)

 

and once installed, please reboot with -v -f

have you installed nvinject with correct memory amount? if you did, than I will try something else, and post again, but let me know first if you were able to boot to gui before the update?

 

and was qe/ci working?

 

@nitrokki: try to go to utilities menu before going into to the installer, and see if disk utility will see your hdd? and it sees it, you need to partition your hdd first otherwise, installer will not see any partition therefore wont show anytg...

 

@all: People who are having network drop problems, can you try the new driver I mention above please, and report back the result?

I could boot fine into the system at 10.5.1 (but with not the right res because of graphics obviously)

 

then i updated 10.5.2 the way you mentioned on page 5 of this thread and i could also get into the system fine but with the wrong resolution again due to no graphics drivers.

 

Just use me as a guinea pig, il try and test whatever you want and report back

I'm aware of disk utility and have used it. It just won't see my IDE HDD. It only sees my SATA HDD and USB HDD.

Hi i installed iAKTOS R3 on a external harddrive it installs fine boots fine then i installed the 10.5.2 update that was saw in the previous pages.It installs fine boots up says 10.5.2 in about mac all 4 cores work fine.I then install the graphics for my Geforce 8500 GT I saw in page 20 then it gets the restart error?! or sometimes get a kernal panic i get the same type of error as urgonah8me . I know i ain't got a Nforce board but it seems to have been working fine till i installed the Graphics

@nitroki: I dont know why it doesnt see it, but what you can do is try installing on one of your sata drives first... and than when you boot to gui, you can edit appleviaata.kext, search for it on the one of the early pages I described it... and than see if it will see your ide hdd... before doing appleviaata patch, make sure you remove pata ids from pata section of the nforceata driver... so both drivers dont conflict with eachother...

 

also please anyone with network drop problem on 8139 chips, try the driver above reading my note regarding installing it so you dont cause conflict with other drivers...

also for DvP, I managed to get his card working with full qe/ci hardware accelerated, but he is having freezing very quickly as first mouse failing to move smoothly, but I am not sure of all his problems yet as he is fingering with too many things by himself before I can get him to test something, so I need him to first get a working system first so that he can try...

@vash: I dont think it will solve any problem, you will still have network drop... (also when you add the driver, do u fix the permission? and remove mkext and caches? and boot with -v -f ? also original 8169 driver is in IONetworkingFamily/contents/plugins/AppleRTL8169.kext)

 

Yeah I've done all that (chown, chmod, rm -R.....).

 

However my network drop connection with a "not so heavy" load. I'm trying to download a demo of a software (300Mb) but i got network drop after 20Mb.

if you find a driver is loaded incorrectly, you can make a dir in extensions, and move it into it, so it will not loaded anymore.

I dont understand why you cant load it at all... I loaded it and it works!, can surf the net as well...

Edit: I understand WHY now, bcoz I myself forgot to remove one of the drivers (which was loading properly) not the new driver sorry

 

the error messages are shown on my log as well, but that doesnt stop the driver from loading... and I can confirm it s wroking, however I will check it out again... and see how it goes...

 

I partially explained why it has no problem with cpus=1 bcoz it s chipset! The IONetworkFamily and/or Kernel has problem on nforcechipsets...

If you remember what I said about kernels after 8.8.1 there has been a new scheduler added to kernel to change the way kernel flushes (cleans) the buffers/caches... There is a high chance that there is similar relation here as well.

 

how do i know? bcoz if you use older kernels, you can still use but with only cpus=1... does it sound familiar to what you are saying about network problem?

 

there is a flow control function in network drivers so that it can handle the requests, however, this flow control (and/or) flushing buffer problem happens on multicore enabled cpu... on nforcechipsets only? sound familar? also we need to get hpet loaded as well, do we know if it is loaded or not? I can confirm for many people it doesnt load bcoz of acpi tables needs to be edited (ask kabyl) we have many problems on nforce chipsets... there is zero to non support on official drivers and etc...

and hey, i find that the flow control of 8139 nic is disabled, do u think that matters?

First:

I am getting very low benchmark scores in xbench for the disk tests. It doesn't go over 7MB/s.

 

I have tried putting the nforce sata kexts in the extensions folder and also inside AppleNForceATA.kext but no luck. I have also tried to use just the AppleVIAATA.kext but no luck there too. I though need the access to my sata drives (at least for reading) and hence my dependence on the nforce ata kexts.

 

I ran the same test on an external USB drive (IDE) and get upwards of 35MB/s for it. I don't know why the boot disk doesn't give me similar/better results. Also, my now-defunct install with Kalyway gave me acceptable results (65MB/s +) for the sata drives but I never got such results with this release.

 

 

Second:

I tried both netkas' AppleSMBIOS.kext and the one from mac.nub but both do not give me detailed info in the System Profiler. Any other release that I should try?

see if this solve freeze problems,

 

1. open console.app in the application/utilities

2. click "all message" and type "8139" in the filter box

3. heavy load your network *download the combo update

4. go to preferences/network

5. choose your ethernet, and press advanced

6. navigate to ethernet and choose manual (100basetx, full-duplex,flow-control)

7. adjust the mtu until you get rid of the above tx error.

* i adjust my mtu from 1500 to 100 to get rid of the error,

my actual download speed drops from around 4mb/s to 1mb/s,

it's acceptable, no freeze so far, not sure if this help, but you can try.
