Hi snam11,

Here is another test.only5 IOPCIFamily. Try it and let me know the dmesg result under singleuser mode. If kernel panic happens, show me the picture if possible or let me know where it stops. Thanks a lot.

Again, don't forget to backup your original files while trying it.

Hi Lele40,

If possible, can you go to Post #364 , download the IOPCIFamily.info.only, load it, and show me the dmesg? I need some information from it. Thanks.

Hi snam11 and kizwan,

Here is the test IOPCIFamily. Try it and let me know the dmesg result under singleuser mode. If kernel panic happens, show me the picture if possible or let me know where it stops. Thanks a lot.

Again, don't forget to backup your original files while trying it.

Hi guys,

I would like to help you find out solutions to the problems. However, it will be helpful if you can also attach the dmesg result or other information (i.e. photos, etc.) instead of just telling me the pccard doesn't work. Otherwise, I won't know where the problem is and where I need to start. Thanks for understanding.

Hi lele40,Thanks for the information. According to the demsg, your pccard controller seems to be activated. I think you are using the wireless PC Cards. If you do, what wifi card are you using now (vender id and product id)? What driver for the wireless device are you using now? If possible, can you let me know what extra kexts you are using are not from Leopard originally? Thanks.Chun-Nan=====================Hi snam11,Here is another test.only4 IOPCIFamily. the max speed is 100 instead of 1000 but is fair enough. (setting manually the speed to gbit will deconnect the ethernet lan)

good job!!

Tried rev8 on 10.5.2 -- was a "no go" for IOPCIFamily.kext; system would crash early on startup. Perhaps needs be recompiled against the latest kernel? Be warned.

Hi k2k2,

I don't know if it works on 10.5.2 or not because I am using 10.5.1 now.

hi,

i tried to replace the files in rev8 but nothing change.. how to get my reader works? what i neeed to do now.. after rebooti get this from terminal with command in the 1st port:

Hi kuntz,

As far as I know, IOPCCardFamily is only for pccard controller, not for flash media controller. You need extra driver to make your card reader work.

Hi elchile,

I probably misunderstood what you said beofre. If possible, would you please tell me the issues/problems you have on you pccard again? Thanks.

I have a Toshiba M400 Tablet PC running OSX 10.5.2 with the 9.2.0 vanilla kernel. I am trying to get the Texas Instruments PCMCIA card bus drive to work. Before doing anything I backed up the following kext's and left them on the root user's desktop.

IOPCCardFamily

IOPCIFamily driver

AppleACPIPlatform

AppleAPIC

IOACPIFamily

I then extracted IOPCCardFamily_chunnan_Leopard_rev8 and replaced the files and restarted the machine. I now get a kernel panic immediately. I booted off the Kalyway 10.5.1 DVD and ran disk utility to repair permissons, this has made no difference.

I am new to OSX and don't know how to copy the original kext's back within terminal. I would very much appreciate some assistance. I installed MacDrive on my Vista partition but I cannot find the root user desktop for the backed up files. Anyone know the path to the root users desktop?

Here is some information I got from running the terminal command from an Ubuntu 7.10 live cd.

Have I done something incorrectly, do I need to change any values for these kext's to work with my Toshiba Tablet?

Here is the info I got from within the About this Mac section (don't know if this is of any help)

Big thanks! :DIOPCIFamily.test.only6.zip now made my PCMCIA WORK on Latitude D620 :D

If you want to restore your backedup kext do this:

boot with "-s" option

you will end up in a safe boot console, than type:

mount -uw /
cd /var/root/Desktop
cp -a whatever.kext /System/Library/Extensions/
chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/*.kext
chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/*.kext
reboot

Thanks for your reply, I'm trying your suggestion.

when starting using -s I get the following output

extension "com.apple.iokit.IOPCIFamily" cannot be found

can't determine immediate dependencies for extension com.apple.driver.AppleACPIPlatform

Can't determine dependencies for com.apple.driver.AppleACPIPlatform.

Couldn't alloc class "AppleACPIPlatformExpert"

I am unable to do anything else, I cannot mount the filesystem etc

Do you have any other suggestions?

Hi Spadge,

It seems that the permission is not set right or the IOPCIFamily is missing. If you have installation DVD or other Mac system on your machine, boot with it and go the terminal. Try to fix the permission or copy IOPCIFamily file back to your folder.

Also, I am kinda confused. Can you tell me what files you exactly removed/replaced on your machine? Thanks.

Hi Dmytro,

Glad that your PCCard works with test.only6. :)

If possible, can you post your dmesg result under singleuser mode. Thanks.

Hi snam11 and kizwan,

Here is another test.only6 IOPCIFamily. Try it and let me know the dmesg result under singleuser mode. If kernel panic happens, show me the picture if possible or let me know where it stops. Thanks a lot.

Again, don't forget to backup your original files while trying it.

Hi all,

Here is the beta IOPCIFamily for 10.5.2. In this edition, IOPCIFamily will try to fix devices/bridges misconfigured by BIOS, including pccards, ethernet, etc.

It doesn't require assigning computer name, memory ranges, or i/o ranges on IOPCCardFamily. IOPCIFamily will try to assign resources automatically.

Please help test it and post the result under singleuser mode if possible. Again, don't forget to backup your original file before trying it. Also, double check the file permissions before rebooting. Thanks a lot.

Chun-Nan

P.S. If your pccard originally is supported by Apple, you don't have to replace IOPCCardFamily. If it isn't, you have to replace both IOPCIFamily and IOPCCardFamily.

Before I try this one, I just want to make clear that rev8 works just _FINE_ on 10.5.2

Any errors are due to other kexts having been incorrectly replaced, or missing installation steps.

Also, I have working firewire on my setup as well as pcmcia, with no speed issues :D

Hi everyone!

I'm new to all this hackintosh thing. I downloaded the Kalaway Leo DVD and tried to install it on my laptop. But it does not work. My laptop is an ASUS X51R with the following details: Pentium Core Duo T2130, DVD SuperMulti, 120GB HDD, 2GB RAM, ATI X1100 VGA. Now as you can see it's an X200 chipset. So this is the problem. When I try to install Leo I get this error in -v mode: IOPCCardBridge::start failed. I know that a lot of people are having issues with the x200 chipset. I was redirected to this topic and I see that thankfuly with the help of Chun-Nan lot of you are getting it to work.

My question is (as I am a total noob regarding this and it's my first time) how do I install this files Chun-Nan uploaded? I have the kalaway dvd only. I don't have Tiger installed, only Vista.

A guide would be fantastic. Thank's for the help in advance! ;)
