Atheros AR9285 fix for Snow Leopard - Mavericks

I have desktop too but it's X79/2011 platform. Speedstep doesn't work because Mac OS X doesn't support this platform. So, only my notebook have Mac OS X.

Atheros AR9285 fix for Snow Leopard - Mavericks

Sorry, I don't know. Did you try Lion IO80211Family.kext kext (AirPortAtheros40.kext)? I'm dual booting with SL & ML. For ML, I'm using this driver. The reason why I only updated to 10.6.7 is because ATI mobility support. Starting from 10.6.8 & above (Lion & ML), I can't declare (in ATI framebuffer personality) the internal LCD as internal LCD because it will produced corrupted image on the internal LCD. When declaring the internal LCD as not internal, the video is perfect except when display sleep, the backlight doesn't turn off.

Atheros AR9285 fix for Snow Leopard - Mavericks

This kext works well for my AR9285 (168c,2b) wireless card in Mac OS X 10.6.7 (vanilla kernel). I only use the kext & doesn't touch my DSDT or kernel to get it working. I only add device ID (168c,2b) in AirPortAtheros9388.kext. It now can support 802.11n network & WPA2 encryption.
  4. Hi bcc9, My ATI 4570 (mobility) works in Lion but the whole system hang when running Chess (opengl problem??). I want to try Mountain Lion but do you think the Lion problem will be inherited in ML too? I'm still figuring out whether buying ML will be worth it. I don't have other computer I want to hackintosh. I have X79 desktop computer but CPU is not supported, so I don't want to use ML on that. Thanks.
  5. Hi, I has added the missing steps at post #2. Thank you koocho.
  6. Ops! I didn't cover it in my guide, did I? Sorry. I'll add it later.
  7. Hmmm... The installer doesn't try to install at all? That's strange. Can you try different USB stick?
  8. If you double click the Lion installer in the prepared USB stick, it will throw that error. You should boot with the prepared USB stick to install Lion. Basically, there are two ways to install Lion:- 1. If you already have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 - 10.6.8, to install Lion, just need to launch the installer from original DMG file. 2. Install Lion using the prepared USB stick - boot the notebook with it. This USB stick is useful if you want to re-install Lion later.
  9. Hi crowebster, Thank you very much. After added the code in DSDT (EHC1 & EHC2), notebook able to enter sleep mode. However, when wake up, the monitor is blank & system not responsive. Do you remember how you fixed this?
  10. If anyone successfully getting sleep to work on this notebook please post here thank you. I already tried a couple of methods but they appeared doesn't work, unfortunately. When checking in the log file, Lion does reported sleep is successful. However, immediately after the notebook is power off (entered to sleep/hibernate) it powered back on again but with blank screen & seems unresponsive. I can't remote access because ethernet card no longer have an IP or already stop working due to system crash. The log also doesn't contain any information why the system immediately wake-up after putting it to sleep.
  11. I'm sorry can't help you more since I'm also don't have much time for this project.
  12. You don't know what kexts in Extensions.mkext? You can *decompressed* Extensions.mkext to *.kext files. I'm not on Mac right now, I don't remember the exact kextcache command. I'll let you know when I'm on Mac later.
  13. Hi c0ke & dajerm119, I think better start from fresh 10.6.7. The ATIFramebuffer.kext failed to load problem, look like it's not the correct ATIFramebuffer.kext for 10.6.7. @dajerm119, Please list all kexts in /Extra folder. Also make sure all Extra Extension must installed in:- /Extra not in other directory.
  14. You should use the original ATIFramebuffer.kext. Just need to patched the original ATIFramebuffer.kext.
  15. Better stay on 10.6.7 & try get your GPU to work. If you upgrade to 10.6.8 or Lion, new problem appeared & you need to solved it too. If you able to get GPU to work in 10.6.7 then it is likely you can get GPU to work in 10.6.8 & Lion. If kexts failed to load, you need to correct the file permission, like this:- sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/ATIFramebuffer.kext sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/ATIFramebuffer.kext Anyway, with 10.6.8 or Lion, try boot with flags arrange like this:- GraphicsEnabler=Yes -v npci=0x2000 If you get no video output, boot with this:- GraphicsEnabler=No -v npci=0x2000
