Hi, Yes, It Will! :) get the newest in kexts.com...

Anybody knows if the front panel mic will work with new voodoo?

Hi, I have updated the link in the post, give it a try! :P

someone plz? :)

thx!!!!!!!!

Hi, you have only enhanced, that would do! Don´t worry about AHCI then!

About EPU and Snow Leopard, it will only work if installing from a leopard HD or Partition, and opening the installation , I think it is a bios thing, plain p5k-se don´t have any issue.

Several BlueTooth Devices do Not Work, so back to leopard and everything working...

;)

Ahm, I´m Back From Vacation! :(

Okay, I've gotten 10.5.8 up and running smoothly, and I've made a bootable clone of my install on another partition so I can break it and not really lose any sleep.

I imagine that if I upgrade to SL from within my 10.5.x install the kexts I'm using (just the basic ones installed by UInstaller.app, plus the AppleYukon.kext to get my ethernet working) will break. Will the kexts I used to get 10.5.x working work with SL, or do I need alternatives? Is there anything else I need to be thinking about before I try that upgrade?

edit: I'm going to play around with this guide, and see what I can do. In the meantime I'm going to try to work on getting sleep to work; anyone have any idea if the method linked to in the first post works in 10.6?

cheers..

Hello Jimmy,

I have a question (a bit offtopic..).

When I tried to install Leopard first time on my P5K SE/EPU long time ago... no one bootloader worked for me except yours. The main problem of our motherboards is it's not possible to change SATA mode to AHCI - only IDE is avaible. Could you explain what kext you use in your loader to prevent ''still waiting for root..' error?

P.S. I'm trying to install Snow Leopard Retail using similar steps.. That's why I ask how to create a bootloader with IDE SATA mode.

P.S.S. Tried to use a bios from P5KR. It doesn't help for Retail. But works fine for Snow Leopard Universal 3.6.

Thanks,

Igor.

Hi everybody!

I'm coming back with an annoying problem: almost everytime I'm surfing the web, either on Firefox or Safari, Apple finds me in someway and my pc is blocked with the typical message in all languages that forces to restart the machine... have you ever experienced that?

Sorry if you discussed it already, I was away from the forum for so long and I didn't find a proper keyword to search.. thanks!

this means you have a kernel panic message because of a kext. try erase the last kext which you installed or reinstall your os with trying different kexts.

I tried to install the Microsoft Silverlight package, but the installer keeps telling me it won't

install, because it will not work on a PPC machine. My Core 2 Duo, is hardly a Power PC.

Has anyone else had a problem installing this product on their installation?

Thanks

Chuck E.

I think you're absolutely right, this kernel panic happens while I'm downloading from aMule too, and I discovered another problem with the ports: I never had my USB ports fully working, sometimes I have to disconnect and reconnect the mouse, the keyboard or anything else... quite annoying, but bearable, as the System Preferences about keyboard that sometimes are lost... but today I bought a LaCIe hard disk I needed for video editing, and I couldn't read it neither through firewire nor e-SATA! The System Profiler recognizes the ports and the connected device properly, but I ca't access it on the Desktop nor the Disk Utility!

Any idea about the bad kexts? I followed Jimmy's guidein detail about a year ago, when I first had a working Hackintosh... I updated to 10.5.8 last week, didn't I install the kext again? Do I really need to format and reinstall everything, or could you help me finding the wrong kexts with this list of problems?

Tnx!

I just tried, this is what I get when I read my com.apple.boot.plist:

<key>Graphics Mode</key>

<string>1280x1024x32</string>

<key>Kernel</key>

<string>mach_kernel</string>

Should I add the lines you posted manually, or try installing something else?

p.s.: the internet problem isn't fixed yet, I just got a kernel a panic

Thanks Jimmy,

I went to the web site and tried the following:

HDA enable (32/64bit)

VoodooHDA (32-/64-bit)

VoodooHDA (32/64bit) by Prasys

Voodoo HDA (32/64bit) with cracking fix

ALC888

ALC883_10.6.2 (which gave me a kexts panic)

nothing work...Any more ideas?

Thanks

Go to kexts.com, and try some other VoodooHDA posted there, if unsuccessful try other audio kexts for your audio, ALC883 if a P5K-SE

Check how is your bios set, to AC97 audio, or HD, probably, it is a hardware related problem, or bios.

No way Jimmy, I still can't get the external hard disk on my desktop while the System profiler recognizes it (it's a LaCie d2 quadra v.2)

My com.apple.boot.plist now is:

I've gotten 10.5.8 up and running smoothly on my P5K/EPU. Thought I might start playing around abit again, and see if I could get SL to install; I tried briefly a while back but gave up pretty quickly.

Jimmy, you mentioned in an earlier post that:

About EPU and Snow Leopard, it will only work if installing from a leopard HD or Partition, and opening the installation , I think it is a bios thing, plain p5k-se don´t have any issue.

could you clarify this for me? Do you mean that it only works if I install it as an upgrade on an existing leopard install, or just that i need to be opening the installer from within leopard, and that I can then install it wherever I'd like?

Hi jimmy this is my first post, but have been completing your guide`s from the beginning as they are the best out there in my opinion, have enjoyed them aswell. But would like to know, and i`am shure that I am not alone here if you can see 10.6.2 being a factual stable prospect for all us P5K`s users out there.

Hi Jimmy, need your help here.

Cant get my Mac to work round here.

My configuration is:

- Intel Q9550

- Nvidia Geforce 9500 GT 1GB – DDR2 – DVI 550M

- ASUS P5K-SE/EPU

- 4x 2GB DDR2 800MHz/P6400

- SATA DVD

Don’t know what the problem is… I do everything by the book (Install the update and then the P5K-Family_10.5.8.pkg Installer, then I reboot the PC).And the Mac OS X is starting (booting, with the small apple – as the resolution set in the UNIVERSAL OSx86 INSTALLER - and suddenly it restarts. then it`s starting again and a black screen comes, then NOTHING happens. :D

Thanks a lot for the tutorial. Hope it works for me. Need your help though. :censored2:

Thanks from brazil. you rule
