Hi, yep, go on! :(

...

Hi!

Well, what can I say, if you read the posts in this topic, you´ll see that EPU mobos gives hell of a problem, but they will work, eventually... :D

1- boot with -s ( and type the commands shown in the screen)

type:

rm -rf /Extra

nano /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist

2- remove the ...

save and and press CTRL + D

3- get NVEnabler (link)

install it using UInstaller.app

cross your finger, pray, may a wish and restart!

...

So, how can i explain?

First: snow is almost the same "thing" as old leopard, there are some severe issues regarding Bluetooth devices, and usb storage devices (pen drives and external storage devices for instance)

And, people with "epu" mobos may notice compatibility issues, some severe ones...

Second: I do not own a p5k-family mobo anymore, I had one p5k-se (non epu), really good mobo, but I had to move on with a rampage formula.

People who followed this tutorial for some time now have skills on getting Snow to work, almost the same principles :D

VERY ALPHA RELEASE AND PROBABLY WON´T BE UPDATED

1- GET REBEL EFI (LINK) AND BURN IT TO A CD OR DVD

2- GET THE PACKAGE ATTACHED TO THIS POST

3- GET " Chameleon 2.0 RC4 "

3- GET A VIDEO ENABLER FROM KEXTS.COM

PROCEDE AS INSTALLING 10.5.8 LEOPARD

REMEMBER, I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR SMOKING MOBOS, MELTED CPUS, EXPLODING HARD DRIVES OR ANY DAMAGE THAT MAY OCCUR!

DON´T MAKE TELL YOU " SEE, I TOLD YOU SO!"

yep.. now it worked :(

thanks a lot bro.

just some bugs to fix, and I dont know what to do...

Anyone faced the same situation as me:

- when I start an application and move it around the content of the window just disappear... Or when I start safari, for instance, and roll down some web page, it lags, and some parts of the page are missing, but as the application "heats" the problem just stop (after opened for a period of time)... :)

Anyone can help?. I have an Nvidia Geforce 9500 GT 1GB - DVI cable plugged - and a ASUS P5k-SE/EPU

eh nois :)

hi everyone

does anyone know why the attansic ethernet or the Realtek RTL8169 only runs at 100Mbits on these boards (I've got a P5K)

I've tried every 8169 and attansic kext available and every ionetworking.kext all over the internet for both, and can't get a gigabit connection between my P5K and my Macbook pro.

P5k

Q6600 Quad 2.4

7300GT

2 gig corsair ram

10.5.7 leopard at the mo (not up to 10.5.8 as i use pro tools 7.4.2 and can't upgrade it)

chameleon rc4 (hence, all my kexts are in /Extra, not in S/L/E, because i wanted to keep it separate - i cloned my macbook pro hard drive you see :)

Also, when using the attansic, i can access the macbook pro from the hackintosh on the network, but i cannot access the hackintosh from the macbook. It works both ways with the Realtek card, but its still too slow...

MBP is running 10.6.2, but i had the same problems last year when it was on leopard

any ideas? it's been winding me up for about a week now!

Hi, go to netkas.org see if you can get an ATI installer for your card and install it.

Get this app (link) run it, and post the hardware info

...

My graphic card is an nVidia GeForce 9500 GT 1GB - DDR2 - DVI cable plugged

I think ATI installers only work on Radeon, right?

Is there another installer that I can download to make it work?

heres my Hardware Info:

post-500190-1267460515_thumb.jpg

---

another thing that I remembered: my keyboard isn't working like it should (various keys dont do what they should) - where can I find more keyboard "layouts" for installation?

thanks!

Hi, try getting the new kext at kexts.com

else, try setting your device manually, default is auto...

hi Jimmy, thanks very much response but it's not worked, sorry!

I've used AppleRTL8169Ethernet.kext and also RealtekR1000.kext (which won't even connect), as well as both L1 and L2 versions of the Attansic. I've tried changing manually the ethernet settings on both - if I change the hackintosh to 1GB in Network-Advanced Settings, it shows up as 1Gb, but it's really still only at 100Mbits as shown in the Macbook Network Utility (file transfer between the two is definitely 100Mbit)

As soon as I change the macbook ethernet settings to 1Gb at the same time - it says "Cable Unplugged" - this happens on both realtek and attansic.

While using these different kexts i am also putting whichever one i am trying into IONetworkingFamily/contents/plugins

I may have mentioned before, the chip on my Maplin home brand ethernet is RTL8169SB, not just RTL8169.

But i still don't understand why two different NIC are BOTH at 100Mbits....my macbook pro is early 2008 and definitely has a gigabit card - it says it! (Marvell Yukon Gigabit Adapter 88E8055 Singleport Copper SA) :)

i've tried every configuration in network settings (DHCP, manual settings, etc)

(picture from the macbook

Screenshot2010-03-02at005544.png

Don't know what to do really! What kexts are you using, the ones from your installer?

Aside from the ethernet everything else works fine, it's very annoying! :)

Oh for lords sake, it was the ethernet cable..... :)

I was using the one that came with my xbox 360 as it was lying around - nobody told me there are different kinds of ethernet cable!!

I've just plugged in my Belkin 5e crossover cable and its reported and running at 1Gb... :)

I finally made it =)

now it doesn't have the annoying bug anymore...

the solution was found here.

at first it didnt work, but them had to boot with -s and write down:

# mount -uw /

# rm -r /System/Librarys/Extensions/NV*

dont really know what that does, but it worked :D (yeah,, im a total newbie)..

still the keyboard issue, dont know what is my keyboard layout, it has the key "ç" but the portuguese_brazil_ABNT2 didnt work...

where can I find more layouts??

thanks!!!!!

I am not using a P5k retail Hackint0sh anymore for my primary (desktop) activities,

I sold the system as windows machine.

In addition to my macbook (2008), I have (since the end of 2009),

an imac.

Jimmy and everyone thanks for everything!

I am very grateful for all the support and tips!!!

Greetings,

Jimmy,

Im not leaving this forum.

If you have questions, send them :(

The only restriction is that I don't have a hackintosh machine anymore.

I can't therefore test hackintosh related settings myself.

But I can naturally always help other forum members with their problems, etc.

Greetings,

Wally

I'm just curios what the current status of a Snow Leopard install is for our boards?

Are there directions for such an install such as what jimmy has in this thread?

What works and what does not? and what are the major issues with general day to day

usage.

Thanks

Chuck E.
