Come on, no one has any idea????????????? :(

I tried OpenHaltRestart.kext, but i got the same symptoms you speak of (bouncing apps, etc) - the console says that it is related to a Vmware Fusion file (which i have installed), so i went back to the shutdown_fix. Im not sure of this error occurs only when you have wmare fusion installed or not. Do you have fusion installed?

Make sure you are running your memory at 800mhz. When I went over 800mhz, i noticed things getting screwy.

Also after I did the Migration update from Software Update (about 2 days ago), I get a kernel panic every time I do a shutdown... Anyone else getting this?

Hmm, now the shut down kernel panic has gone away. I think it might have been to my new graphics card and the way I applied the EFI strings with EFI studio. What I did was I just reapplied all of the graphics, network, audio strings... Was this the correct way to do it?

Also, anyone out there with Wmware 2.0 and OpenHaltRestart.kext ??

I would answer yes to all the above the first 4-5 installs after that I stopped using psystars suteown fix because it wasn't working. I installed over 5 times yesterday and kept getting the same thing. I have noticed that migration assistant moves kext files too so the last time I installed I moved things by hand, not the migration tool and still got the same errors.

I might try a different install technique today and if that still doesn't work I will spring the £1800 on a mac pro!

I'd try to eliminate as many variables as possible. First make sure that your RAM is working 100%, run memtest overnight. Boot with 1GB, then 2GB. Dont try to use any migration tools to get your mac running at first. Install Kalyway onto one of the drives and from there format+install the ls8 pack onto your other drive. Make sure your BIOS settings are correct (you need to be in AHCI mode). Dont overclock at first. Run your memory at 4-4-4-12 - osx is very RAM sensitive. Disconnect the IDE drives and use only the 5000AAKS and the Seagate SATA (make sure they are connected to the orange ports on the MB). If this still doesn't work then Id try different RAM.

Tried it all, no good. dont see how the ram can no longer be good for either 10.5.4 or .5

ordered a macpro today.

Thanks for the help

Hi, I'm using:

-GA-EP45-DS4

-2x2GB at 1066 MHz

-Asus 9800GTX+

All is working flawlesly but net card, how can I have Bonjour and associated services working?

I know there is a fix to cracking sound but I can't find the thread, anyone knows which thread is?

Thanks

Has anyone managed to boot successfully after applying the 10.5.5 combo update + post-patch.sh to a vanilla install? My rig freezes at the spinning circle screen after a fresh install.

Also, how did you guys get shutdown to work after sleep? It use to work for me, but my BIOS was reset after messing around with Windows. I've tried every possible combination of BIOS settings I can think of...

Im using the shutdown_fix.

This is what I have done:

1. I have installed Vista on first SATA HD

2. I have created 3 partitions on second SATA HD

3. I have installed Kalyway 10.5.2 on first partition of the second disk

4. Using a 10.5.4 retail disk image I have installed through Kalyway partition retail vanilla Leopard on second partition

5. I have applied 10.5.5 update to the vanilla installation

6. I have executed post install to the vanilla installation

7. I have rebooted on the vanilla installation without any problem.

I'm using EasyBCD to choose bewtween Vista and OS X and darwin bootloader to choose between Kalyway 10.5.2 and Retail 10.5.5

How can I monitor temperatures in a GA-EP45-DS4?

Hi Guys,

I've just got a few questions about WOL (wake on LAN). I've done a fair bit of searching, but I haven't found any conclusive answers on it.

So first off, is it possible to get WOL working using the in-built ethernet? I'm currently using the r1000 kext because I need bonjour and AFP funtionality. Ideally I'd like to be able to wake my computer from sleep using WOL - is this possible? Are there other network cards that can give me this sort of functionality?

On a "real mac" these features can be turned on or off in the Energy Saver pane of System Preferences, but they're not visible on this setup. I tried using Unix Commands from Remote Desktop to enable them, but it told me that the Wake from sleep feature was not supported by my machine.

So has anyone else had any experiences with WOL? Did you find any solutions?

Cheers,

Steve :)

i tried to install 10.5.4 with the package 12... it worked well, but when i did it with 10.5.5 this came up.

Mine's running fine on 10.5.5, no freezes. I updated booting off a second HD, applied patches and so on and had a spinning circle screen because graphics drivers and (I think) EFi strings disappeared. I found booting in safe mode (press F8 before darwin bootloader comes up, then enter "-x", as ls8 suggests on the updated first post :( ) meant I got to the desktop. Make sure you have EFi Studio on the HD, fire it up and apply strings, and you should be good to go.

I haven't bothered with any shutdown or sleep fixes, and haven't installed JMicron or Realtek R1000 drivers, but then I only have 2GB RAM. I work too hard for the computer to sleep! And at the end of the day I shut down, then once the screen goes blank, the PSU still runs, so hold the power button for 5 seconds for it to switch off finally. Still running Netkas v8 efi. My 2nd boot HD has Chameleon, keep meaning to change my main HD to Chameleon but don't want to FUBAR a perfectly running system.

If you need any help with BIOS settings, post up where you think you've gone wrong. ls8 has some BIOS screens on the first page, of course.

I just tried to reinstall 10.5.5 and the never ending error is like.

nov 5 10:41:41 localhost /usr/sbin/ocspd(100): starting

and there it stops. I tried to take out the wifi card...the same. i tried to disable ethernet in the bios...the same. its a quite strange problem. becaus ls8 had nearly the same system before. the only difference maybe is that my system is on a pata drive. but i installed the jmicron drivers so it shouldnt be a problem at all. also because it works perfectly with 10.5.4....

someone knows something?

PS: one question beside: why now we use efi strings instead of the drivers like alc and the ethernet drivers etc... is it better or somethin?

greets

Has anybody tried LS8's new install method on a GA-P35-DS4 or GA-EP35-DS3R board?

1. install Leo

2. run 10.5.5 combo

3. install Chameleon

4. ls12 ????

5. reboot -x

6. create strings with EFI-studio

I am about to try (I changed all drives to SATA) and was wondering if someone has already succeeded?

[OFF Topic] @ ls8 I can see you looove the  Logo, but although you have tired it out in your Sig, is there any real need to have it all over the show in your Topic Title. Have some consideration for the poor poor helpless souls fall through Windows who will only see something along the lines of [][][][].....
