  1. karaakeha1, are you using a wireless card in your build? Im using the Asus WL-138G v2, but it is giving me problems.
  2. copy com.apple.Boot.plist from here /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/ to here: /Extra/ After you have applied EFI strings with EFI Studio or OSX86 tools. Its a simple shell script that just copies files. Just replace the audio kext that is being copied over right now with the one you need. Does anyone here have WL-138G v2 working with their setup? I noticed that ls8 is using this wireless card. I have the card also, but have problems. It is recognized as Airport but has trouble connecting to networks. It can scan and see the networks, but would not accept password on the first try. Eventually it would in some way become connected, but still would not work... Im using WPA2 ... could this be the problem?
  3. Did you apply EFI strings and and then place the Boot.plit file in Extra folder?
  4. I have just tried the AnV XNU Kernel on my 10.5.8 EP35-DS4 build and it solves restart, sleep, shutdown. You wont need to use OpenHaltRestart, shutdown_fix, or CHUD.pkg. Link here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...3414&st=350
  5. Thanks karaakeha1 and aschar1, I noticed you are on 10.5.8...how did you resolve the sleep issue? Or is there even a sleep issue on the EX58-UD5?
  6. Hey Karaakeha1, how did you get your 275 gtx working? Did you use OSX86Tools to generate custom efi string or some other method? Im thinking about upgrading to this build. Looks awesome!
  7. Also right after you have installed Chameleon, run sudo /usr/sbin/vsdbutil -a /Volumes/VOLUME_NAME and then install the ls8 pack. It will enable owners on the target drive, this fixed my kernel panic.
  8. 10.5.8 sleep problem

Using mach_kernel from 10.5.7 fixed the sleep issue for me.
  9. When running combo update on existing 10.5.7 system, i get the following problems: internal disks get the external disk icon (orange) restart didnt work sleep didnt work When doing fresh install of 10.5.8: sleep doesnt work using 10.5.7 kernel fixes the sleep issue, but messes up overclock + machines continuously shuts-down/restarts. So, Im back on 10.5.8 kernel (9.8.0), with no sleep.
  10. karaaakeha1, can you recommend a wireless-n card that will work OOB? You seem to always be on top of things Thought I'd ask you
  11. Im wondering why the "headphone out" option doesnt show up in System Pref -> Sound... In ls8v14 this was working. I tried using the AppleHDA.kext and HDAEnabler.kext from ls8v14 pack, but nothing changed. Is there a way to use some earlier kext or EFI string that will make the headphone out come back? Right now im using N1_1.6.2a37_3outs2ins_digital_HDA_headphone.zip from http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...140941&st=0 it gets rid of the "Sound assertion "0 == fMikeyDriver" failed in "/SourceCache/AppleHDA/AppleHDA-162.1.37/AppleHDA/AppleHDADriver.cpp" at line 1063 goto handler." error on GA-EP35-DS4 rigs that show up in the console, but still no front panel audio
  12. I did as you said, copied the plist over to the Extras folder. I changed all of the privileges to read/write, but the machine fails to boot now, keeps restarting... What are the correct permissions for the plist in the Extras folder? Does the copy need to occur in safe mode? Thanks!
  13. I generated the string with OSX86Tools, but get the same exact results. No effect what so ever. I only get 1 resolution setting in System Preferences -> Displays -> Resolutions and no QE/CI. Also, no difference if i remove the Hz or not. Its like its not even seeing the com.apple.Boot.plist file... Do the strings need to be installed safe mode and permissions repaired in safe mode as well? I think I did this. Can't remember since i've isntalled like 30 times already... I didnt install to the /Extras folder b/c when I did that the machine didnt boot at all. My only problem is the graphics at the moment. The EFI string has worked for me every time with previous install before 10.5.7 and ls8v16. Boy, this is annoying, grrr Here is my string: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>Graphics Mode</key> <string>1024x768x32@60</string> <key>Kernel</key> <string>mach_kernel</string> <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string></string> <key>device-properties</key> <string>6c0200000100000001000000600200000d00000002010c00d041030a01000000010106000001 101060000007fff04000e0000004e00560050004d000000200000000100000000000000000000000 000000000000000000000000000000220000005600520041004d002c0074006f00740061006c0073 069007a006500000008000000000000101c0000006400650076006900630065005f0074007900700 650000000f0000004e5644412c506172656e740e0000006e0061006d00650000000b000000646973 06c617922000000400030002c006400650076006900630065005f00740079007000650000000b000 00646973706c617922000000400031002c006400650076006900630065005f007400790070006500 0000b000000646973706c6179100000006d006f00640065006c0000001a0000006e5669646961204 65466f726365203733303020475320000000400031002c0063006f006d0070006100740069006200 c00650000000e0000004e5644412c4e564d616314000000400030002c006e0061006d00650000001 0000004e5644412c446973706c61792d4114000000400031002c006e0061006d0065000000120000 04e5644412c446973706c61792d4220000000400030002c0063006f006d007000610074006900620 6c00650000000e0000004e5644412c4e564d6163100000004e005600430041005000000018000000 4000000000003000c00000000000007000000001e00000072006f006d002d0072006500760069007 0069006f006e0000002e0000006e5669646961204765466f7263652037333030204753204f70656e 74c20456e67696e65205b4546495d</string> </dict> </plist>
  14. I've decided to put all my kexts in the S/L/E folder and now Im able to boot into safe mode. The problem that Im having is that when I generate EFI String (using EFIStudio) for my 7300GS 256MB, repair permissions, and reboot, nothing happens. Have I missed s step or something? EFI GFX strings worked in the previous versions...
  15. This is where im stuck when trying ls8v17 + Chameleon RC1: Owners are enabled. I get the following error when booting with "-x -v": "mDNSResponder[25]: Couldnt read user specific local hostname; using default biMac-02AF...." when i boot with just "-v", i get error: Sound assertion "0 == fMikeyDriver" failed in "/SourceCache/AppleHDA/AplleHDA-162.1.57/AppleHDA/AppleHDADriver.cpp" at line 1063 The above message is then followed by a bunch of CrashReports... **** I replaced the AppleHDA and HDAEnabler with this one N1_1.6.2a37_3outs2ins_digital_HDA_headphone.zip. Now i dont get the above messages and Im able to boot into the welcome screen where you setup your account. Unfortunately booting into safe mode (-x) does not work, it hangs on this line: usr/sbin/ocspd[65]: starting I also have no sound, and generating EFI string for graphics doesnt work. EFIStudio says the strong has been written, but when i restart nothing has changed. Maybe the strings have to be generated in safe mode. Is anyone else experiencing these issues with the DS4 2.1? **** When installing Chameleon RC1, are we suppose to choose Standard install or go to Customize -> EFI Partition? Also, should we let Chameleon place the kext files in Extra/Extensions?
