Hi

Thanks firstly to the kalway team!!!!great work!!!

My problem:

Mobo: asus p5kr

Have installed kalway once...worked sweet

kept same settings and reinstalled to format to mbr for xp

I keep getting failed installation.

I've read the forums and been trying for days..

When kalway worked it was perfect but i needed to install xp on the same disc so i reformatted to mbr and chose efi mbr and continually get the failed installation page.

I used dune's bios settings and have ahci enabled. I disabled the jmicron. My Hard drive is on sata one and dvd on sata two.

WHy for the love of god has the installation worked once and now just fails constantly

Is using the fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0 and then formatting to mac journalled in disk utility correct.

I maybe a bit confused but anyhelp would be appreciated.

ps can anyone tell me the asus p5kr bios settings or how they installed kalway.

cheers

Phyuuu.... Finally. It wirked now =))) Yukon ethernet, 8800GTX,Sleep, Reboot, Vanilla wok OTB. ALC888 worked with 1.20 taruga patcher + ncx5 dump.

Only one thing... I have previously installed WinXP64 on different HDD. How i can add to darwin bootloader option for booting winxp? Changing HDD for boot in bios is boring =(

Anyway, almost perfect release! Merci beaucoup, Kaly et Dune! :)

Hi all.

I tried to install KALYWAY 10.5.1 but failed. After installation I have apple logo and then grey screen.

Here is the screen when I start with -v -x options:

post-74676-1199625275_thumb.jpg

I`ve installed with the following options:

+Vanilla kernel and acpi vanilla

+audio driver for my p5w dh matherboard

+nanit ati driver

If I install with wireless driver then boot screen stops on error "FireWare GUID 0000000000 is invalid!"

I read topic about adding support for ATI 2900XT card but I can`t even login into installed OS. So I do not have any ideas is it problem with video or its some thing else.

Please advise.

my Broadcom Wlan 14e4:4318 is listed in Brcm4311.kext

but its not working.

System configuration says Third Party Wlan.

The wifi icon in the top is gray and "off"

in network configuration the broadcom is not listed only my LAN interface "cable not connected"

anny tipps how to get my wifi workin !?!?

im goin crazy..

thanx

ok, i don't know if i understand completely all these words, but this is where i think i am with kalyway:

if i install with guid vanilla, i get 'cannot find hfs partition' error

if i install with mbr, i get the flashing cursor

if i install to external, i can boot with dvd

if i install to internal, the dvd can't find my disk1 (vista is disk0), so i can't boot at all

if i install over uphuck tiger, i can boot, but the computer reboots itself right as the grey apple screen appears

i should be able to install darwin to the disk1 with dd ./boot0 something if=/dev/something or other, but

from what i read boot0 is ONLY for guid, not for mbr.

so i'm stuck?

Okay. I re-installed for the 3rd time, with the same result. I booted from DVD, then pressed F8, typed in -v, and hit enter. I then waited for the Language Selection screen to pop up. I selected English (i.e. the 1st one), then I open disk utilities, formatted the whole entire HD as MBR, with one partition, named "Leopard" (no quotes) as HFS+ Journaled. After the format and partition was completed, I exited Disk Utilities, and then proceeded with the install. I selected my HD titled Leopard, and clicked customize. I selected SSE2, my audio driver, and under bootloaders I unchecked GUID, and checked MBR. I then OK-ed everything, and proceeded to install. The install finished with the Installation Complete sign and the green triangle with the checkmark appeared. The computer then did its reboot, and then the Apple Loading screen appeared. After the loading screen went away after about 1-2 minutes, I get a wonderful pale blue screen.

What do I have to do so that I can get to the welcome screen??

Thanks a million to whoever can help me fix this!!

EDIT: YAY! I plugged in my external monitor from my desktop, did a reboot, and it works! I am now writing this from my IBM mac

hmn ... it is insane.. i dont get wlan to work with kalyway

Don't check Natit for your 2900xt. Just check

Vanilla Kernel

Vanilla ACPI

ALC882

WIFI

and the EFi corresponding to the table partiton you have chosen with diskutility.

This way, you will install on native VGA , and after that you should apply video drivers you found for your 2900xt

My setup is exactly the same, except I got 2Gb of Ram, 3 HD's and Pioneer 106D DVD oas slave. VGA is Geforce 6600 GT AGP 128Mb

I am curious if this will work. I have read that with this release you still need to get the ethornet patch that was needed for tiger too.

Sound (onboard) is supposed to be working with this release albeit with the sound coming out of the wrong socket (the blue one that is normally used for quadruple or more speaker setups)

You say it will not work on this config? Okay i need 1 more patch for the ethernet. Anything else?

Does this release work for you?

Hi folks!

Haven't written for a long time, but reading is what i do regularly :-)

This is what i found out. (probably obvious to many)

1. If you get a cursor and blue/grey background after install you can use the DVD to boot, setting the root directory to your Leopard partition: (f8) rd=diskxsx (eg: rd=disk1s1 in my case). This loads the kernel from the DVD (i guess) but boots the system on the HD. (according to the post above the blue screen issue might be happening because dual screen loads and does not recognize your screen as main)

I couldnt boot kalyways DVD so I used Toh and set the root directory/drive in darwin to my other DVD drive (rd=disk3s2 in my case) with kalyway in order to install. (EFI problem?)

2. no matter what bootloader i used (guid/mbr - ofcourse with propper partitioning) it rebooted after darwin. So I didn't install any of them and used the DVD to boot the system. (EFI problem?)

3. Installing Toh distro still allows to use packages from kalyway on the DVD. This is convenient to install some drivers. Is this a way to upgrade 10.5.0 ToH to Kalyway 10.5.1?

4. Running the script (/usr/misc/script.sh "partition name") from Toh DVD, which is supposed to install darwin, works but with no effect (still no darwin, just the script works).

5. Realized something strange after install: Itunes works great,

music is played back, same in movies. BUT system sounds are burby/farty and low fi (as if the speakers were overloaded). Ideas?

Question: Does EFI work at all on SSE2 intel pentium 4 3.54 Mhz. Gigabyte 848p? Sometimes I saw EFI loading for a very short moment before reboot.

Question: iAtkos distro had the "still waiting for root device" problem no matter if booted directly or via point 1 method. Any suggestions on that?

Note: uphuck 10.4.9 worked like a charm for me, and kalyway (without bootloader and with setting point 1) works too.

Merry Christmas to all russians ou there! :-)

just delete all ethernet entries in the Network preferences with - and add them back with +.. Apply . it should work

hahah :D your the best !!!

OK tomorrow i will ad my system in the "workin" thread !!! Wow all working out of the BOX ;) !!!!

AWSOME !!!! FANTASTIC...

i had to upgrade to 10.5 because i have bought me a new monitor and i dont get the resolution to work for my HP2207w...

also its a fantastic monitor ;) ...

Hi,Kaly & Dune 31, can you give me please configurations for Asus P5GC-MX motherboard

and DualCore Intel Pentium E2140,1600 MHz. to install leopard dvd correctly.thank you.

ps:is there a solution for Atheros L2 Fast Ethernet 10/100Base-T Controller.

In regards to battery indicator and battery settings:

I have installed Kalyway and all was well except for the battery issue. I installed PowerManagement.bundle from the iAtkos DVD using Pacifist, repaired permissions, rebooted, and now it works fine.

Thanks Dune31, I installed Leo and then booted with -v -x options and installed ATI2900XT driver, now it OK, only one big problem left, I do not have internet connection, on ethernet settings I have message like "cable un-pluged", now I`m tryig to find how to fix it.

look just some posts up what i said to Boert and do the same thing. your ethernets should work.

hi im new.

i got the dvd down and burned it.

i boot from the dvd and it goes to the white apple loading screen.

then it goes darker and says "you need to reboot.. press the......blah blah"

how can i get past that?

i have a fresh blank hard drive on a separate SATA cable.

Hi, i just want to thank you for making a great install disk. I was using ToH, but i had to disable HT. Shut-down, reboot would not work. With your disk, i can enable HT, sleep, reboot and shut-down, works now. I think, this is as close to the real thing, as i can get. Again, Thank You!!!!

Thanks again for the fantastic release!

However, I do have a few final questions: How do I know if I have QE/CI enabled, and if I don't, how do I enable it? (I would like to install iLife 08)

My specs are:

IBM ThinkPad X41 Tablet PC

Pentium M 758 LV - 1.5GHz, 533MHz FSB, 2MB L2 Cache

1024MB 667MHz DDR2 RAM

Kalyway Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.1

Intel GMA 900

Also, can I do Apple Updates direct from the software, or do I have to ignore them?

Third, enabling QE/CI will allow me to use Photo Booth with my webcam, right? Cause right now, I get a unsupported graphics card error! :)

Thanks again for all of your help!!
