Although I agree that the stats in the article are worthless, I would like to second someone else who said their digital life has improved since moving from PC. All of my media (from photos to music) is much more organized now.

I will say that media player on the pc does a much better job of finding and organizing music than itunes, but for all it's ability, it just seemed to be an enabler of my disorganiztion.

As far as creativity goes.... I've used PS, AI, & DW on both platforms. Functionality wise, they are virtually identical.

The edge I see the Mac OS having is that it tends to be more stable, better at multi-tasking, and generally performs much faster on identical hardware than Windows. I know MacOS has more advantages, but these three are what makes me more productive, which is why I like the Mac.

some of my friends have iTunes and they can only play or share music only on one computer, plus buying CD is more expensive but you get way better quality vs. 128-bit apple mp3 songs. I have no respect for 128 bit mp3 songs no quality, maybe for majority of iPod fans the quality is good enough but for me not..

as far as media center goes people that used both apple front row and XP or Vista Media center will admit that Windows is just way better for many reasons.

Erm.. It's 128 KB, not bit. and it's .m4p, not mp3.

and the 128 KB is being replaced with 256 KB.. it's called iTunes Plus. And they too are at .99 cents.

Try getting your facts right, next time. =)

It's neither.

It's kbps.

kbp/s = 1,000 bits per second

KB = 1,024 bytes (or potentially 1,000.)

Try getting your facts right, next time. =)

Since I got my iMac. I have organized my Photos (7 Yrs worth Finally), Made a movie for my bro and made sweet ringtones in GarageBand.

I never did that on a PC ever

I think I was much much more creative on my PC. Plus I did not need to use third party tools, just used the bundled iLife 08

My 75 year old mother figured out how to organize her photos in Vista on her own using nothing but the file explorer with the album view, oh yeah, she can't read english either. Depends on the person and personal preference really.

As for the topic, it's a stupid stat, I don't know how the writer of the article came to that conclusion as there could be thousands of conclusions like...

- PC users are more prone use them for illegal activities

- it's easier to download illegal music with a PC

- Mac users tend to follow the rules more

- Mac users are more afraid to be sued by the RIAA

- Mac users like supporting the underdog

- PC users are anarchists who don't care about laws and rules

The list goes on.. Please note, i don't believe the above list is true, it's just a list of conclusions that someone could come up with given a single stat like that.

What a total load of shmoz.

Mac users bought more music online. The only thing that tells me is that mac users are more brain dead than PC users. PC users probably like music a whole lot more because they are clever enough to download it for free from the host of lovely bit torrent sites out there. While mac users are so obsessed with their little "iworld" they are all too happy to pay FAT CATS like STEVE JOBS and the RIAA many millions of dollars for online sales of music, rather than give it to the musicians. Because lets be clear on this: MUSICIANS MAKE MORE MONEY FROM PEOPLE DOWNLOADING THEIR MUSIC FOR FREE THAN THEY DO FROM RECORD SALES.

If you want to be friendly to the music industry and "love media", you wouldn't pay a penny for any music that was released by a large record company (IE: anything on the itunes music store). Instead you'd get out of your room and pay for some concert tickets and buy a tshirt. The record industry is dead guys and it's invented online stores to try and stay alive while making guilty people happy about downloading music.

Stop paying and start stealing. it will make the would a better place. Hell knows the record companies have swindled and stolen from the artists in the first place so we should pay them huh?

And I'm only calling it stealing because of the record companies - it's not really.

FYI iTunes is set to download your music at a lower quality in the prefences, the point of this is to A: Save download time B: Save HD space C: Most people don't want to trade those A and B for better quality. If you want you can get great quality music through iTunes just change your download settings. SD

I think you're referring to the "import" settings in iTunes, which control which encoding is used to import music files from CDs or to encode other formats, such as wma, into iPod-compatible ones. AFAIK, there is no way to acquire higher quality iTunes store songs other than looking out for iTunes Plus songs.

*cough*Apple.com description of iTune's music format*cough*

But of course, if you are absolutely certain you're right, I'd be glad to see a screen shot of the preference pane that controls it.

Most people who can afford to buy a mac can afford to own an mp3 player to put songs onto and can afford to buy music cds, that's not necessarily true for all pc owners.

No not really. More like people who are naive enough to buy overpriced, under-powered hardware from Apple are naive enough to buy overpriced, low-quality music from online music stores.

[/generalization based on retarded statistics]

I think it's because there are so easier to download free music with Windows.

After being spoiled with utorrent I felt the same way. Then I tried Transmission, it's an excellent Mac torrent client :hysterical:.

  • 2 weeks later...

While windows machines are prone to problems and viruses, macs also have their share of problems. First of all, support.

Games, software, so much more is available for the PC.

If you have a windows machine, and a good firewall/router, and don’t randomly download {censored} from the internet or look at porn all the time, you’re gonna be fine. Its not gonna crash—within reason, same goes for the MAC.

Now… as for vista, yeah vista is terrible. But that’s the same with all new M$ products.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the mac, I think it’s a superior computer, but it costs too much for the average user.

Guess it doesn’t matter anymore seeing how even operating systems have become cross platform.

Sorry people but our figures show that those stupid Mac-PC commercials are back firing on you people! The majority empathize with the PC guy rather than the snotty, self absorbed, superior attituded Mac jerk!

play them more!

You need more sex.
