1. I've just replaced my old LG burner with a Pioneer DVR-219L. And when I tried to burn a DVD with Toast: At least I didn't get a coaster -- nothing was burned, the disc remained blank. After that, I burned a bunch of DVDs with LiquidCD, flawlessly as far as I can tell. A bit annoying, as Toast made it simple to compress and burn large video_ts folders, but I can make do with DVD2oneX2. Still, I'm kind of miffed now: I've been using hackintoshes since early '08, and I had never seen this kind of incompatibility. Any clue on a fix? My specs: mobo: Gigabyte H55M-S2 proc: Intel i5 750 video: GeForce GTS 250 system: Mac OS X 10.6.7 method: ##### + #####
2. What is your hard drive's format? If I'm not mistaken, if it is journaled HFS+ (rather than plain HFS+), it will skip fsck at boot.
3. So there I was, just ready to buy meself a new computer, and reading about how to do a hackintosh on a Sandy Bridge machine... then I find this on Slashdot: Intel finds flaw in 6-series chipsets, halts shipments

Permanetly Delete Script (Skip Trash)

Some things are not supposed to be "easy". According to Apple's Human Interface Guidelines: To make it too easy to destroy data is, simply put, one damn BAD idea.

Chrome for MAC OSx

I'd rather download it straight from Google, you know... here.

iTunes 9 and Hackintoshes (fixed!)

People pay for music? How quaint!
7. Damn, I wish I could buy a real Mac again (had a 6500/225, and a G3/500 iMac). If I could get one for the American price, I would have. But here in Brazil, Macs are insanely expensive. For example, a $600 mini? More like $1400. How about a $1200 iMac? Try $2700. So for now I'll make do with what I can get.
8. Okay, never mind that, I found a nearby store with double layer DVDs at a decent price. Now, I'll get vanilla... can someone point me to a "hackintosh from scratch for dummies" tutorial -- I mean, one that assumes my hard disk is empty and unformatted?
9. Vanilla OSX takes a double layer DVD, right? Those are a bit expensive and hard to find around here... :/
10. From the same source: So, patience for now.
11. Installed, works fine, but one weird thing: in the "Speech" preferences, there is only one voice!
12. Nah, it's working fine now, I'd rather not change a thing. =P
13. Because it's what I found. Point me a newer thread and I'll be glad to post there. XD
14. I confirm another success! Systems used: - Kalyway 10.5.2 - Windows XP Pro SP2 PC specs: - mobo: Gigabyte 945GZM-S2 - 2 gigs ram, 250 gigs HD (around 233 gigs formatted) - GeForce 8600GT Notes: - made 3 partitions: 25 gigs for Windows, 200 gigs for OSX, 8 gigs "trade" partition - did not assign a letter to OSX partition, so Windows can't see it (can it see HFS+ partitions at all?) - thus, the last partition is to send files from OSX to Windows Sidenote: - used 10.5.2_NVkexts+.pkg to get the GeForce to work. Only the DVI port works.

Got my Nvidia 8600GT Working (Updated 9-18-08)

Thanks to BiffTheAncient for providing the essential clue: my 8600GT's VGA port does not work right, but the DVI one does! Just installed 10.5.2_NVkexts+.pkg and it works fine and dandy. Also, used Dilnalomo's tutorial, and I can dual-boot perfectly. For a while I thought I'd have to move to Windows for good... scary! One weird thing, though: Half-Life 2, the "episodes", and Portal used to run on Crossover -- very poorly, with the Intel video, but they did run. But now they freeze on the "blur" before the title screen. I have tested some other PC games, like Half-Life and Chaser, and they still run fine.
