I don't know if this has already been posted before but here it goes for those of you who might not know.

Unsurprisingly, Microsoft's latest abortion has made it all the way to the top of "The 15 Biggest Tech Dissapointments of 2007". Read all about it here: http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,140583-p...ds/article.html

May I say, haha and I told you so.

Cheers,

EDIT: I just found out that the reviewer placed Apple's Leopard in the 8th place, hehe. http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,140583-p...ds/article.html

Haha... yep, pretty disappointing releases from both Apple and M$. Then again, I was never expecting Windows to do my laundry, or for Leopard to tuck my kids into bed every night... they were just over-hyped.

That'll do, OS's.

That'll do.

Leopard is disappointing? I don't think so.

Just because most of the changes aren't obvious attention grabbing 'look at me' features like everything Microsoft claimed they were going to introduce in Vista but subsequently dropped...

Leopard is disappointing? I don't think so.

As far as the feature set goes, I never expect much. And I really think that $125 for Leopard is more than fair. However, when you manufacture and control the hardware, operating system, and a large amount of peripherals: there should be 0 bugs.

I agree with everything this list noted.

Gather children, let us gander at the magnificent and well thought out reasons for this placing.

First, they talk about WinFS (Though I really doubt they even know what it is, like most people they're just reguritating "LOL WINFS IS GONE BOO") missing, yes, it's a shame but as Jim Allchin explained, Microsoft more or less achieved what it wanted with the other improvements in Vista. Second reason in this paragraph is logically retarded but I'll humour them, they say Vista is slower than XP as some magnificent, all meaning fact -- well, this isn't true but hey, I imagine the writer is the same person who blames Microsoft for games performing slowly.

Now, onto the next paragraph, and fear not chlidren, I shall dispell the stupidity presented for us to behold. They blame Microsoft for other companies being lazy and than they talk about UAC in about 10 words, wow, that was convincing. I'm guessing some tool listened to one too many Apple ads and actually failed to use Vista, realistically. Now, like soo many other idiots they pretend Ultimate is the only version available -- yes, let's all listen to some moron who pretends this.

Next, the magical author continues in his bewildering stupour to grace us with some more repeated comments by the common moron of 2007. Someone get him a medal, stat.

But hey, we're all mindless lemmings who rant about how bad Microsoft is while we sit on our hypocritical chairs playing WoW on our Dell box. Let's all be freaking stupid, moronic zombies -- all the cool kids are doing it! :):D:D

* For the record I'm not saying Vista is perfect, awesome or any other similar adjective, just that the majority of people who complain about Vista are quite simply, lying, ugly, hypocritical morons.

Tittle of this article is wrong

"The 15 Biggest Tech Disappointments of 2007"

It should by something like "Biggest flaws in most profitable tech products of 2007". Tittle as it is mans that the products are worst. And that is strange because for example iPhone was on the first place in Times at top 10 2007 gadget category.

This article is simple traffic maker. Traffic = money.

Here's some more of that delicious gravy for you to slurp, robotskip ;)

- Acer president Gianfranco Lanci today became the first major PC manufacturer to openly attack Microsoft

- 25 Shortcomings of Microsoft Vista OS - A good reason to choose GNU/Linux ...

- Vista - so bad, they pay you to take it?

Makes you wonder why so many flies like poo, doesn't it?

Cheers,

EDIT: I don't mean to start a ridiculous flame/OS war here or anything. I just like to bash Microsoft whenever I can because they suck ;)

We were actually talking about this on another forum, and most members including myself thought it was major bs. This is the same website that said the macbook pro was the fastest machine they've tested, which I like the MBP, but in no way is it the fastest. Things that should have been on that list should have been the current release of the Phenom and R600. I felt that those 2 were entirely disappointing. I mean GOD DAMN, the R600 was suppose to be the best thing since running water!

I'm not gonna lie. I hate microsoft, but I love their products. Love my 360, my Zune, and Vista. Vista has been the best thing for my system.

hecker, take everything I previously said and apply it to yourself and the stupid links you provided -- go wild. I mean, I don't know how anyone can post things like that, especially the 25 shortcomings one, with a straight face. Don't you feel dumb just referring to it?

Hey, that's cool. It's really satisfying when things work the way you expect them to. You know, I used to be OK with MS until I had to actually start working with Microsoft's products for a living (most of the time anyway). It was during that time that my views of Bill "the toad" Gates and his company began to shift from admiration to unfriendliness and finally utter deception.

I won't go into details of the why and how but I will say this: if the advance of computer sciences was measured by how well a multi-billion dollar company like Microsoft can produce an OS then the scientific community should feel ashamed of itself and dig its head in the sand. But like many of us know, Microsoft's goals are 99% oriented towards making more money for the toad so it's ok to treat the company like it deserves. Badly.

Oh yes, I feel so dumb and ashamed about my actions that I'll have to kick your face in during recess. But wait, I can't because I'm not 15 anymore and you're just a picture of colored stripes in my world. EDIT: I agree that the shortcomings one is pretty out there, though, hehe. Ah well, it's not like I really read the whole articles ;)

Take a hint, pilgrim.

A bit offtopic but I am posting it here, since most Vista users will look into this thread.

It might be important for Vista+SP1 users.

No comment from my side, think about it yourself.

Really? Any other tidbits of knowledge to share mr. windows defender?

R600. I felt that those 2 were entirely disappointing. I mean GOD DAMN, the R600 was suppose to be the best thing since running water!

That's a good choice. The R600 let me down so much! The new HD 3k series is great however, in fact I just ordered an ATI 3870 from newegg. The R700 looks promising as well, I doubt it well be an upset.

Nevermind that Leopard was right up there with Vista on the list?

Seriously though, the whole list is bogus. There's a lot of stuff that shouldn't be on there, and a lot of stuff that should be on there. It's just clickbait to drive their bottom line up, move along.

At least ATI can write drivers. Aside from the noise and power consumption, I've been very happy with my 2900XT, and it performs better than G80 GTS for the same price at the time, in most apps. R600 isn't all bad. RV670 is good because it keeps most of the benefits of R600 (though memory bandwidth has proven a limitation in some cases, so R600 often still works out faster at higher resolutions) but offers very low power consumption.

However, in a typical 180 for me, I'll soon found out if I've made a mistake ordering a G92 GTS just because it's the fastest thing out there for the price. Almost all of my past experience with NVidia drivers has been involved wanting to tear my hair out - especially the drivers for their crappy excuses for chipsets (which I will definitely never touch with a barge-pole again. nForce 2 started off good, nForce3 had some issues and my last, an nF650i board utterly sucked.)

I'm not ugly, hypocritical or a moron. Liar, occasionally.

The only complaint I have about Vista is the hit in FPS in games... but I rarely play games on computers anymore.

On my hackie, Vista is a really nice OS. It's more stable and quicker (snappier, perhaps) than XP -- and I never had issues with XP in the first place.

It's just hella-disappointing that Vista took 5 years to create -- sure there's lots of "new" features, but from what I can tell, rarely ones that benefit me. You can tell by looking at the screenshots of the development of Vista on Wikipedia that MS was dog-f*cking until about 2005.

Oh well, what ever, it's cool to hate on the top dog -- but at the end of the day, Vista runs smoother on my MacBook than Leopard does -- and this MacBook was shipped with Leopard pre-installed!
