My system:

ToH RC2 10.5.0 @ EFI v8 upgraded to 10.5.1

CPU: Intel Pentium DualCore E2140 1.6GHz @ 2.66Ghz (shows up as Core 2 Duo), required updating the kernel for the second core to show up, otherwise seen as Core 2 Solo; PC-EFI with vanilla kernel makes no trouble.

MainBoard: ASUS P5B (the standard one)

RAM: 2GB PC1000 (Patriot), correctly detected in Profiler.

HDD: 80GB SATA & 80GB PATA from Caviar (both working, the JMicron required changes in AppleVIAata.kext, the JMicron fails in AHCI mode), Intel SATA works both in IDE & AHCI modes, however AHCI highly recommended - works much faster, only two SATA ports working, no solution (tried several times).

Optical: LG's DVD-RW on SATA (full support)

Video: Gigabyte GF7300GT Turboforce 256MB PCI-Ex (works 100% OK with Natit/EFI 8)

Audio: AD1988 (only Stereo Out with patched AzaliaAudio)

LAN: works out-of-the-box

USB: works out-of-the-box

Remarks: the system has some problems with proper shutting down and restarting, regardless of kernel (patched, or EFI) used. Rock solid under OS X, even thou overclocked.

Ok, my system is now quite stable so this is my contribution...

Current OS X Version: 10.5.1

Install method: iATKOS v1.0i with EFI & Vanilla Kernel

No Prebuilt System!

Motherboard

Manufacturer: MSI

Model: P965 Neo2-FI

Version: MS-7235 v2.1

Bios Version: AMI BIOS v3.7

Chipset: P965 Express + ICH8 Southbridge

Audio: ALC888 not working with iATKOS. Working with Line In/Line Out/Headphone/Microphone with AppleHDA Patcher + ALC888 codec text dumped from Knoppix Live CD 5.1

LAN: Realtek 8110SC (it's detected but I haven't tested it yet...)

CPU

Model Number: Intel Core 2 Duo E4400 overclocked at 2800MHz

Recognised as: 2800 MHz :-)))

Memory/DDR:

2Gb (1+1) Corsair TWINX DDR-II 4-4-4-12 (total amount of RAM correctly reported in System Profiler except the bus speed and the used banks)

Video

Manufacturer: Sapphire

Model: ATI Radeon x1650 Pro (Device ID: 0x71C1)

Bus Type: PCIe x16

Memory size: 256Mb GDDR3

Dual screen working: Feature not tested

QE/CI working: CI/QE/Rotation fully working. I've also enabled QuartzGL and it's supported (no problem at all with that!)

Resolution changeable: Yes

Required patches or bios flashing: Yes, using this method:

http://forum.osx86scene.com/viewtopic.php?...it=x1600#p17897

NOTE: I've used neither the files linked nor the ATIInject.kext. Simply modify the ATINDRV.kext as written then edit the ATIRadeonX1000.kext files as described.

NOTE2: I've replaced the device string 0x71C01002 (RV530) with my 0x71C11002 (RV535) in ATIRadeonX1000.kext because they are similar chipsets (x1600 vs. x1650).

SATA/IDE working: ICH8 SATA fully working. Marvell 88SE6111 IDE Controlled not tested.

Wifi & patches: Netgear WG311T (Atheros based) working with 10.4.10 (Tiger) IO80211Family.kext modified as documented in this thread:

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...wg311t&st=0

NOTE: with the original 10.5.1 IO80211Family.kext (modified as the other one) the Netgear card is detected and seems to work but the system

freezes at the moment of the network connection...

Hope this can help...

Video

Manufacturer: Foxconn

Model: NVIDIA GeForce 7600GT (Device ID: 0x0391)

Bus Type: PCIe x16

Memory size: 256Mb GDDR3

Dual screen working: Feature not tested

QE/CI working: Yes, using Johnniecarcinogen's installer and modifying the kexts to match the Device ID. Also followed some instructions from NVInject.

Resolution changeable: Yes

USB/SATA/IDE/Firewire working: working fine.

Interesting install notes

* Leopard install doesn't recognise a PS2 keyboard. Had to buy a USB one.

* Using a Pioneer DVR-109 for a DVDRW (IDE) -- the jumper was set to slave. Leopard would install, but once installed the OS wouldn't recognise it. Fixed by moving the jumper to master.

Web Cam works. - Install skype first. It recognizes the webcam right away.

I think webcam might not work if you didn't install graphics card drivers.

Only problem is the image it 180 degrees inverted!

This is a known problem for this model in linux world :D

If anyone is interested: http://linux-uvc.berlios.de/

WiFi: Intel 4965 AGN : not detected, yet. - didn't try to.

Ethernet: Realtek Gigabit suported natively

Modem: Not detected, does anyone use it any more? ;)

My short install method (used usb connected external IDE hard drive):

1. Kalyway 10.5.1: vanilla only (no acpi fix) + GUID_EFI

a. Note down your osx partition after partitioning your drive.

eg. disk1s2 is your osx partition. remember disk1s1 is EFI, and disk1 is the harddrive. This info can be found out using : use terminal - 'disktool -l' or 'diskutil list'

b. Go to Bios -> Boot -> Hard Drive -> move the USB connected hard drive to first preference.

2. a. Download and save them to thumb drive JaS_ACPI_APIC_Tiger_Kexts.zip from here:

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=78235

b. Boot using DVD ( use 'cpus=1 -v rd=disk1s2' to boot., where disk1s2 is your osx partition.

c. Open terminal and disable NVDAResman.kext (ie.e move them to a folder or maybe on your thumbdrive). This will make booting into the system easier.

d. Follow the guide from above link to replace the ACPI & the APIC kext with the ones in the zip.

e. Repair permisions on the drive (you can use Disk Utility from DVD menu).

f. Delete /System/Library/Extensions.mkext , /System/Library/Extensions/Cache/* , /System/Library/Cache/*

j. reboot. you should be able to boot with "cpus=1 -v -x"

3. Audio:

For Realtek ALC660:

a. Download HDA_133a1.tar from here http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?s=&...st&p=530291

b. Disable AppleAzalia*kext

c. Repair permissions.

4. For Geforce 8600M GT

a. Download this installer 10.5.2NVkexts+ installer v0.1

b. Install it. And don't restart yet.

Open the terminal and modify NVDAResman.kext\Contents\Info.plist. Replace 0x011010de& (first hex string that is) with 0x040710de&

Here 0407 is device id for my 8600M GT

c. Repair permissions and restart.

Key is to do the graphics card at the end!

Thanks to Kalyway, THE0 (xxx buffer headers error) , AlexIT (audio), scottdangle ( GFx card driver installer).

Happy new year to all. Now I can go to sleep . Cheers!

I just installed the kalyway 10.5.1 and everything works out of the box. Sound, output and input. Ethernet. And it says I also have hardware acceleration working for my x1900xtx.

Also the "about this mac" works too.

I haven't had to install or tweak a single thing. I'm install World of Warcraft right now to see if that works. I'll report back.

My specs:

Thanks for the info mate! I ended up using the Vanilla 9.1.0 kernel from Kalyway's 10.5.1 official release and now my sleep is working. Wireless still doesn't work for me. I am using WPA with AES pre shared key. I think the wireless for this board only works open or with WEP.

Cheers.
