naquaada
If you think about it, it's really crazy... heylookimaninja
2 things: first, i installed leopard on my computer but when i try to boot osx up it gives me a kernal panic. how can i fix this to boot into osx? can someone point me in the right direction? i don't know what i would search for, or are all kernal panics the same? and second, when trying to boot into vista i get a HFS+ partition error and can't boot into vista. is it possible to fix this without formating the drive? i am uploading a pic of what it says when i try to boot osx up. i can't get the specs of my comp but the processor does support sse2, and sse3 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/73524-new-amd-dvd-for-leopard/page/67/#findComment-573178 Share on other sites

blubyu
I can never get to an installation screen with rev 1 of Zeph's Leopard 10.5.1 AMD cd. I have tried flags such as -x -legacy -system=x86PC etc.. and no luck. I noticed some issues with APCI during loading of the kernel however it scrolls to fast to see what those issues were. The error I get is Panic (cpu 0 caller 0x0036DAC7):"Process 1 exec of /sbin/launchd failed, errno 88\n"@/volumes/disk1s2/leo_xnu-1228/bsd/kern/kern_exec.c:2884 Computer is an Acer Aspire E360 with the following, (no additional hardware) AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Socket 939 MMX (+), 3DNow! A2 Motherboard FC51GM Ram 2x, DDR PC3200 (200 MHz), 512 MBytes, Nanya Technology A quick google search of your pc says you have SATA drives. They aren't supported in the rev 1 cd. Either install on an external USB drive or wait for rev2. Sorry to bump my own questions but has anyone a clue whats the problem or what else I could try to get it working (searching didn't really help)? The only thing I've tried so far is setting all language settings to US-EN and I also tried to manually remove the File /var/db/.AppleSetupDone. After removing the file I could log in for a second but then it gets automatically back to the login screen again. So I think, thats not getting me any further as well... Anyone? Cheers. Can you boot to the login screen every time now? Then you log in and it looks like it is going to but then it goes back the login screen? If this is the case there is a file that is causing the problem. For the life of me I can't remember which file that is. I had the same problem. I found the answer in this forum. That isn't much help but at least I can tell you that there is a fix.....somewhere cant wait for rev. 2 again... sorry... im impatient i know So partition your drive, install Tiger on the first partition. Install Leopard on the second partition and then transfer over your Tiger account during the Leopard install. Then play with Leopard until Rev 2 comes out and then repartition and install Leopard on the whole hard drive. As good as Rev 2 will be (and I am sure it will be great) you might as well learn now how to fix things because I am sure you will need to. 2 things: first, i installed leopard on my computer but when i try to boot osx up it gives me a kernal panic. how can i fix this to boot into osx? can someone point me in the right direction? i don't know what i would search for, or are all kernal panics the same? and second, when trying to boot into vista i get a HFS+ partition error and can't boot into vista. is it possible to fix this without formating the drive? i am uploading a pic of what it says when i try to boot osx up. i can't get the specs of my comp but the processor does support sse2, and sse3 http://osx86.wikidot.com/known-issues zephyroth im sure a hundred people already said this but the sata kext from here would help tons of people http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=77071 and of course thanks! zAo
Since I have a Asus A8V mainboard with the K8T800 disk controller, I couldn't get the DVD to boot properly: All the disks ran in PIO mode and only 127GB was recognized. First I waited for another AMD release, but yesterday I decided I had to do it myself: after searching the web I created my own AMD Leopard disk, with K8T800 support! Well, at least the DVD booted normally and the disks were reconized. Since it was late, I did not install; I will tonight. Lesson learned: even the install dvd is easy to customize! Thanks all! casemon
For those who have kernel panic:1 - when it appends ?2 - is it GeForce or NVDAResman related ?Give me your specs !Great release! My situation: I bought a new GF 7300 just for this project. Am seeing a kernel panic / crash in NVDAResman and GeForce at boot. All the GeForce driver add-ons to get full QE/CI (Natit, NVInject) require that I use NVDAResman, but as it crashes on my system, I cannot use any of them and am stuck.I've tried using various switches at boot, as recommended here in this thread, but I haven't be able to resolve the issue. I get a little closer if using safe mode (-x) but the system just hangs at a nice blue screen just after login. I can boot into OSX if I move NVDAResman to a backup directory, but of course it only runs at low resolution. Any thoughts on resolving this? It seems a shame that such a great release is not usable for me, even though I'm so close!Any help is appreciated.re 1) I don't understand the question.re 2) YesMy system:ASUS A8N-E (NForce4) with an AMD 3000+ASUS GeForce 7300GS2 IDE Drives, 1 SATAThanks for this otherwise great release! For those who have kernel panic:1 - when it appends ?2 - is it GeForce or NVDAResman related ?Give me your specs !Great release! My situation: I bought a new GF 7300 just for this project. zAo
i have the same board... i guess the question for me is if the upcoming rev 2 will support it... anyone? I really can't tell you. I couldn't wait though It's pretty simple to create a working DVD though. You need: - OSX 10.5.1 AMD release iso - Tubgirl 10.4.10 AMD release (or an other working DVD) and extract the IOATAFamily.kext & AppleVIAATA.kext & IOVIA.kext (if I recall correctly) from it with Pacifist.app. Process: 1. hdiutil attach /path/[Your AMD 10.5 ISO File] -readwrite 2. mkdir ~/temp 3. [Put 10.4.10 extracted VIA Kexts in ~/temp] 4. sudo rm -rf /Volumes/[Your AMD 10.5 ISO File]/System/Library/Extensions.mkext /Volumes/[Your AMD 10.5 ISO File]/System/Library/Extensions/IOATAFamily.kext 5. sudo cp -r ~/temp/*.kext /Volumes/[Your AMD 10.5 ISO File]/System/Library/Extensions 6. sudo chown -R root:wheel /Volumes/[Your AMD 10.5 ISO File]/System/Library/Extensions 7. sudo chmod -R 755 /Volumes/[Your AMD 10.5 ISO File]/System/Library/Extensions 8. kextcache -m /Volumes/[Your AMD 10.5 ISO File]/System/Library/Extensions.mkext /Volumes/[Your AMD 10.5 ISO File]/System/Library/Extensions 9. hdiutil detach /path/[Your AMD 10.5 ISO File] 10. burn ISO and boot (use “-v –f”) Enjoy Edit: It seems only AppleVIAATA.kext is needed Thanks Locus! casemon
@casemon you must edit the info.plist and add your device id, the same for the Geforce.kext and NVDANV40hal.kext. Thanks, I'd considered this, but I thought the device was covered in the existing files. Here's why: My Device ID is 0x01df & both GeForce.kext and the NVDANV40hal.kext plists have an entry for 0x01d010de&0xfff0ffff Should i add 0x01df010de&0xfff0ffff ? I ask because none of the other ids have 4 characters after the 0x and before the vendor ID 010d (only 3). cybercub
A quick google search of your pc says you have SATA drives. They aren't supported in the rev 1 cd. Either install on an external USB drive or wait for rev2. Thanks for the reply Blubyu, I read about sata not being supported so that is why I installed a normal ata-66/pata drive. What I have not done was disable sata all together in the bios. Maybe that will do the trick if its attempting to load those regardless. I would be happy enough to see an install screen come up lol. casemon
I see where I went wrong, NVidia vendor ID is 10de not 010d. I followed this guide to the letter, just to be sure: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=69855 Good news: No longer KPs at boot...! Yaah... Bad news: The desktop never loads, it just sits with a cursor and a nice blue-ish screen. Nooo! Tried using Natit and then NVinject and both resulted the same bluish screen + cursor. (i made sure to remove one before trying the other) Anyone else see this or now how to resolve it? I feel with each step I get closer, but there is a new obstacle, haha. It's fun, but I'd love to resolve all these issues! casemon
zephyroth, if the next version could have the latest ITunes installed and working, that would be great. I read that you were thinking of leaving it out to save space, but the latest version crashes when installed on this release (when iTunes access the album artwork of a file) so it's pretty much unusuable. Would be so sweet if you could get it working and included... i think most people here would appreciate it (at least until they buy their real macs!)
