No, i have T5200, i thought everyone had dual core working with 10.5.1 but not 10.4.8-10??????

Details from System profiler:

Hardware Overview:

Machine Name: Mac

Machine Model: F3JC IDevice

Processor Name: Intel® Core2 CPU T5200 @

Processor Speed: 1.6 GHz

Total Number Of Cores: 2

L2 Cache (per processor): 2 MB

Processor Features: FPU VME DE PSE TSC MSR PAE MCE CX8 APIC SEP MTRR PGE MCA CMOV PAT PSE36 CLFSH DS ACPI MMX FXSR SSE SSE2 SS HTT TM SSE3 MON DSCPL EST TM2 SSSE3 CX16 TPR PDCM

Memory: 1 GB

Bus Speed: 533 MHz

Boot ROM Version: Hack.88Z.int.0sh.061193037 (American Megatrends Inc.)

when "customize" comes in during the boot process select, EFI - stock kernel, do not select stock acpi Drivers - select AppleSMBOIS by netkas VIDEO natit if you have nvidia graphics.

how do i select this? is it a boot flag?

when i try to boot iAKTOS 1.0i it freezes with this screen (cpus=1 -x -v), simmilar without safemode:

try to checkout kalyway now...

Wow, Kalyway 10.5.1 is the FIRST setup (or anything) ever, that runs without savemode.

I have to run it on one core though... (maybe thats a santa rosa problem only...)

My Flags for Kalyway Setup : cpus=1 -v "Graphics Mode"="1440x900x32@60"

The Setup runs very well, but i have problems with booting the partition.

First I tried without any EFI bootloader, but GRUB said that no executable can be found on the Leo partition. Too bad.

Secound i tried GUID EFI bootloader, but i got a black screen with "b0 Error", and after reinstalling grub, a "HFS+ Partition Error".

I tried booting with rd=diskXsX with the DVD, but it crashed

I will try the EFI MBR bootloader, i think that will be the right choice after all... (first distribution ever, you have to choose the bootloader for me...)

i am trying to have triple boot

my partitioning looks like this:

NTFS 30GB XP

HFS+ 30GB Leo

EXT3 138GB Ubuntu

Linux-Swap 2GB Swap

@bmonkey

if you already have linux installed, try to boot linux, install gparted if you dont have yet and check if your leo partition is the one with the boot flag... i had that problem after installing... once you have put the boot flag to the partition you could just add a new line to grub as described in pc_efi readme to boot from the boot_v8 file...

@phin

your asus is a bit different from ours, ie you have ich7 instead of ich8... so you have a "more compatible bios" not conflicting with acpi/apic kexts..

@all

10.5.2 maybe tomorrow on mac update....

the right option was "efi mbr", now i can boot it with grub.

the problem is, the installation freezes at "using 10485 buffer headers..."

with the normal and the vanilla kernel option... (with safemode and without):

post-91950-1201216714_thumb.jpg

can't i replace some kext to fix this? i can mount the hfs+ partition... (looks like the good old AppleAPIC and AppleACPIPlatform Problem?)

if i try to boot it with the dvd i get a crash around this area:

hanging at that line means you need to replace ACPI and APIC kexts..... I need to go right now but if you go back a couple of pages you should find a APIC, ACPI, and SMBIOS kexts I uploaded. Seeing as you can't boot off DVD, you'll probably have to use single user mode (or MacDrive, Transmac, etc). The APIC and ACPI kexts are from 10.4.8.

I couldn't find any 10.4.8 kext links in this thread, but i extracted them from 10.4.8 JaS with my tiger vm.

i put the kext on my ntfs partition and replaced them with the leo setup terminal.

The work very well, the installation boots further :D

First i had crashes after the NTFS init... i moved the ntfs.kext in linux. kindof fixed...

then i had a funny error "Couldn't find root user. Sleeping and trying again."

i repaired rights and disk with diskutility in the leopard setup, and reset root password and root settings with the password reset tool.

Now mDNSResponder crashes, because of some keychain bull :) !!1 (safemode and normal mode)

what to do :(

Hey Guys,

Just recieved the Dell Wireless mini pci=e card Dell 1390, work straight away once I leopard booted up... Cost $10 on Ebay recommend this to any one wanting wireless.

Check it out, worth the $10.

is your original card 4965 wireless N? or just B/G? I'm not sure how to hook it up if I have a wireless N card already.

I am getting a zydas chipset USB dongle shipped to me in the next few days (I hope it comes soon!) and it should work... but being able to use airport would be sweet! I feel like I would be wasting the $15 i already spent on the dongle though =/

@bmonkey,

I don't know if this works for you, but my Leopard setup had a lot of errors and wouldn't boot up either (login window loaded but didn't show GUI)... I ended up just replacing my Extensions folder with the one from a friendly store-owned iMac, added ACPI, APIC, SMBIOS, and PS2Controller extensions, and it worked. Hopefully you have access to that and it works for you as well! :P

LEOPARD BOOTS!

This is how i've done it:

- Installed Kalyway 10.5.1 without any option (no drivers, no vanilla kernel, no acpi fixes) and mbr epi

- At the end of the setup (30 secounds remaining ^^), opened terminal, replaced AppleACPIPlattform.kext and AppleAPIC.kext with the one from JaS 10.4.8 from NTFS partition, removed ntfs.kext

- Opened DiskUtility, repaired Disk (not permissions)

- Booted with cpus=1 -v => LEO :rolleyes:

used nvinject 0.2.1 with the 10.5.2 nivida kexts, works :D

ntfs.kext worked again :D

my problem is now the sound kext.

i tried

AppleAzaliaAudio.kext.zip

AppleHDA_for_ALC660_beta.zip

HDA_129a4.tar.gz

in AppleHDA_for_ALC660_beta the volume control is disabled, like in the regular kext. in the other 2, it works. but no sound at all T_T

do i have to modify plist files inside the packages? how do i do that? where is the hardware adress located?

but my logitech usb headset works plug & play :D

AppleAzaliaAudio.kext worked after 2 boots oO...

webcam was activated (blue light) at setup, but the image was green. before i installed nvidia kexts, photobooth said that the graphics card drivers are incompatible. now the camera icon is slashed when i start front row. doesnt seem to detect the cam..., is there any chance?

i try an older dlink wireless b usb wifi adapter this weekend ^^, and hopefully there is a way to get this really common intel wifi chipset with official open source drivers working...

hey guys,

i have a f3jm here and it runs nearly perfect!

os: kalyway 10.5.1 works with efi_mbr and vanilla kernel

cpu: intel t5600 both cores

vga: nvidia geforce 7600 go with 512mb

wlan: intel 3945 doesn't work, i use a netgear wg111v2 instead

sound: realtek alc861 works with applehda-driver

lan: realtek rtl8168 works with r1000-driver

Congrats Your_destinY!!

I was experimenring with VMware the past couple of days... after a lot of hard work I can finally boot off my Vista and Ubuntu partitions off a VM on my hackintosh! (wow, it's like double-hacking)

This got me thinking... would it be actually better to run OS X on a dual core VM (off XP or Ubuntu maybe?) or native, with one core, no wireless, and no LAN?

Anyone tried?

Hi guys,

I read that a couple of you have had success with the F3JC, except for a few devices. However, I also have the F3JC and upon booting OSX both my keyboard and touch-pad don't work, it just brings me to a screen saying "There is no keyboard connected to your computer. Please connect your keyboard."

I'm not really sure what to do, they both worked fine during the installation process. Is there something I can edit in the Terminal during the install to maybe load the correct extensions?

Here is some more info on my setup:

Motherboard: Asus F3JC

Processor: Core 2 Duo T5500

Image used: kalyway_leo_10.5.1.iso (Vanilla kernel)

Any help or info would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Hi guys,

I have an Asus W7S and managed to get leopard running, but I am wondering if there was anyway for you guys to get both cores running?

I did manage to get sleep shutdown and restart working before, but since then I kinda formatted and started again and I cant get it to work anymore >_< I know I used mach_sleep and replaced ACPIplatofrm.kext, I just cannot remember which one I used, I will post back when I figure it out

Try finding ApplePS2Controller.kext and adding that to your extensions folder and see how that goes... good luck! :P

@mkayz: there is no way to dual core right now... and when I'm running VMware fusion it makes a huge difference... I really want dual core to work too, but I'm no programmer and I have no knowledge of the code apple uses whatsoever =/

I found out that apprently nobody has Leopard running under VMware yet... but when I get my 16gb flash drive I'll give tiger a spin on vmware

Hi Iduz

I have a F3Jc same process as you, i installed the iAtkos v1.0i and had no problem get most things to work, had to change a couple of kext files plus bought a dell 1390 wireless card off ebay to get wireless working, it only costs $10.

So maybe try downloading iAtkos iso, if you need more help let me know, i can upload the kext that i have use.

Cheers

phin

Thanks antaholics! ApplePS2Controller.kext already existed on my filesystem, but I copied and replaced it from the one on disc and now it works great. Everything seems to work now except for the same things everyone else seems to be having issues with, the wireless card and the audio. I haven't searched much yet on these issues, but if I manage to find anything I'll post results back here. Maybe I'll just pick up that $10 wireless card phin mentioned.

hi everybody,

ive installed the new nvidia drivers, from 10.5.2. (9c20), and it has fixed some issues ie preview is not hanging while resizing... apps grid in stack is working too...

http://scottdangel.com/blog/?p=18

i just downloaded the nvinstaller v31 and go through the install without customizing... just next/next/agree/next/ restart and everything was ok....

hope everyone have the same luck...

dani

ok i managed to partially load nvidia drivers using gfx strings in com.apple.Boot.plist...

so now im not using alcinject.kext nor nvinject.kext

i attach my com.apple.Boot.plist, so if anybody want to give strings a try...

the first string is for ALC660-VD

the second string is for nvidia 8600m GS 256mb

I've been trying to fix my audio but can't seem to get it working. I've tried the extensions attached throughout this thread, and I've also tried using Taruga's AppleHDAPatcher 1.17 with a codec dump I got from my suse linux partition (where the audio works). The codec used is the Realtek ALC660. I also tried the codec dump at http://psykopat.free.fr/apple/AppleHDA/realtek/ALC660.txt, also with no luck.

When poking through some logs I noticed that the AudioIPCDriver was being loaded, so I thought this may be interfering and I removed it, along with any other Audio extension, but still no change.

Am I doing something wrong?

AppleHDA doesn't appear in the Extensions list of the System Profiler

Edit: Here was the output from the AppleHDAPatcher:

Iduz use the attach kext, technically you should have the same audio as me ALC660. remember to remove the appleazaliaaudio.kext before installing these kext also fix permissions..... i use "kext helper b7" saves alot of time.

HDA_129a4F3Jc.zip

thanks danif for the post about the gfx driver! now my preview doesn't hang on .pdf files!

I haven't gotten a chance to try your com.apple.Boot.plist file yet... but can you explain to me wat the advantages of it are? What does not having to use nvinject and alcinject do?

Thanks,

Ant

P.S. I just got my new wireless dongle in the mail today! bought on ebay for $16 and works great! now i don't have to carry a huge DUB-E100 (old version... absolutely ginormous) around!

if you don't have output audio..

in finder GO>>Utilities>> and open Console

in console, click on Show Logs List and select AllMessages

in the search box type azalia you will see all messages related to azalia

look if you find something that explains why it doesnt load...

Finally I'm back.... sooo silently...

First of all, I modified you Azalia.kext, because in Info.plist you used 0x284b8086 in IOHDAudioCodecVendor ID instead of 0x10ec0660.

On System Profiler I see AppleAzaliaAudio 1.0.0 loaded, but on console I can see: "Couldn't alloc class "AppleAzaliaAudioCodecALC660"... really don't know what else to try...

Now I'm going to check with kext from Taruga if my codec can be identified.

Thanks for the hints about how to grab messages, I started using > without success, dmesg > test.txt works fine.

I've read an interesting thing about this codec. If you install alsa-drivers on Linux ALC660VD doesn't work, it need for a special string into drivers to work fine. It seems that codec dump into linux before/after this "switch" is significantly different....

I'll try it when I'll be able to install Linux on the same external USB disk where I have OSX86, it's not clear to me how to arrange the boot manager (Grub) without touching internal hdd with Vista.
