QMax
@danif lspci -nn gives me the same results as you, so we have the same controller. Forget about phin kext, I used your tar.gz (my mistake writing previous post), all problems I wrote in my post #223 are related to this kext: only working is internal mic, no sound at all. Can you please post here or in the main HDA thread your results using v5 of the Taruga HDAkext ? This should show device nodes, I'd like to compare it with mine. I suppose there's some difference between ALC660 and my ALC660-VD. @antaholics Thanks for your Azalia, but gived me the same results as previously tested kext: the only output device is: HD Audio Output, no audio at all and no input device... About card reader I've just found that putting an SD into the PC socket.... wow... it works natively ! But my integrated card reader is by Realtek. Thanks guys, Max
antaholics
Hey QMax, The Azalia was meant for speakers out only... did you get any sound? You're really lucky to get a working card reader! is the Realtek one PCIMIA or USB? Thanks Ant P.S. Wow you got your LAN to work too? you are one lucky guy
QMax
@antaholics I read a lot of posts in this forum about audio, and I read many people can use Azalia to play audio using internal speakers... not me... no way. I tried to modify boh Info with controller/codec IDs, on System Settings I have only HD Audio output grayed out... no sound at all. Do you also have a kext named something like AC97**** in Extensions folder ? This problem is making me crazy, I'm working on it since 12 hrs .... LAN worked without patches, Card reader too, but I never placed an SecureDigital on it ! It's the USB reader inside my laptop, made by Realtek. I just updated PowerManagement and now I can also change setting (previous version was locked). About Wi-Fi I'll buy a D-Link DWL-G122 USB adapter on eBay, hope to find kext for the onboard Intel Draft-N on the next Apple's update. After all not so bad, but... my HackBookPro is... so silent... A question for all people with ALC660 or ALC660-VD: what can you see in your System Profiler for audio adapter ? This question is for people who have working audio and people who don't. Thanks, Max
phin
@Qmax, I'm using the iAtkos install, system profiler reports no audio under built-in audio. Has anyone been able to get the sleep function working with the kayway mac sleep.zip ?
antaholics
I haven't tried the kalyway distribution yet... but if it works please tell us so I can go get it! @QMax... if it doesn't work maybe you can get a USB audio dongle on ebay for a few bucks... I'm sure that the AppleAzalia is giving the sound on speaker out... I'm not suer why you don't get any sound =/... but I'm jealous about your card reader and LAN Ant
QMax
@phin >> kayway mac sleep.zip Can you post more details/link ? I've a little problem after kext installation for my nVidia, I have to shutdown pressing power. I'm going to check ACPI tomorrow, I've found a patch that SHOULD solve this problem. I'll check sleep too. @Ant too many USB devices... I installed on an external HDD, Wi-Fi, mouse.... still trying for internal audio device. LAN is important, but audio is cool Guys, goodnight, it's midnight here, and I'm sooooo tired... I'm going to sleep, cause thre's not any sound here
antaholics
well looks like someone is going to sleep soundly (more like "soundlessly" ) I guess you're right. Having no external speakers on the go kinda sucks.... I hope you can get it working soon! I had to get a USB hub to fit 2 printers, external HDD, mouse, and USB Lan... getting USB wifi soon too! phin
Qmax http://rapidshare.com/files/70226656/mach_sleep.zip.html not sure which .kext it belongs to though. let me know how you go.
antaholics
btw, isn't sleep also affected by ACPI/APIC? if so, I think our old extensions messes that up. Does anyone have any skills/knowledge to find out what's wrong with the ACPI/APIC compatibility with our laptops? edit: tried the mach_sleep kernel from before (apparently I already had it on my computer when I was trying to get 10.5.1 to work... I didn't know what "sleep" was referring to =P I can sleep my laptop (no hibernate... is this normal? I've never seen a macbook sleep) but it won't wake up! hahahaha only hibernation is useful for me though...
QMax
Guys, can you please post me a list of files in your /System/Library/Extensions folder, and a snapshot of loaded extensions in your System Profiler ? Thank you. Max

danif
i have tried the HdAudioPatcher 1.20 from taruga with the codec dump and original appleHda and the patched appleHDA dont load i have tried azalia kext and get stereo audio output you will never see any device detected in the audio info from system profiler. Neither azalia nor applehda will show your device in this section... try the azalia file that i attached and the following lines: sudo -s mkdir /backup mv /System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext /backup mv /System/Library/Extensions/ALCinject.kext /backup mv /System/Library/Extensions/AppleAzaliaAudio.kext /backup mv /DirectoryWhereYouUnzippedMyFile/AppleAzaliaAudio.kext /System/Library/Extensions/ chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/AppleAzaliaAudio.kext chown -R 0:0 /System/Library/Extensions/AppleAzaliaAudio.kext rm /System/Library/Extensions.* reboot when booting, although is redundant, use -f at boot options if you don't have output audio.. in finder GO>>Utilities>> and open Console in console, click on Show Logs List and select AllMessages in the search box type azalia you will see all messages related to azalia look if you find something that explains why it doesnt load... good luck AppleAzaliaAudio.kext.zip
QMax
Thank you very much for your help, I'll compare your dumps with mine tonight when I'll be back home. Danif, how did you grabbed HDAKext output ? I can run it, then I have to close test with CTRL-C, then exit to complete boot, but can't find any info in /var/log/system.log, @ant can you describe me one by one, how many packages did you installed on your hackbook ? I can run it, then I have to close test with CTRL-C, then exit to complete boot, but can't find any info in /var/log/system.log, ctrl/c is very strange... have you tried to just press enter... i have seen this when booting in single user (-s)... the terminal still prints booting messages so sometimes disappears the symbol #... but when i press enter it reappears... i think i wrote something like this kextload /HDAudio.kext > info.txt or maybe kextload /HDAudio.kext and then dmesg > info.txt anyway you can use the ">" after a command to print the output messages not to the screen but to the file after the > so for example ant could have written ls /System/Library/Extensions/ > sample.txt to get a file with all the files in the extensions folder... and knowing this, you can use ls options to list it alphabetically or arranged by size, date modified.... about the mach_sleep kernel, i tried it but with no luck... it isnt only a kernel problem.. i think acpi is also involved...maybe alexit can tell us the technicals reasons... @ant you are right, with acrobat reader it doesnt get hanged while reading/scrolling/resizing pdfs... @all we can post when we get hanged the machine so we could find alternatives while stable vga drivers are developed... for example my computer hangs very often while viewing/full scrennig flash videos from youtube...so im looking today for an alternative...i'll post my results.... Salud... dani
danif
ok, i found how to fix the hang while playing flash videos.... just right click on the video (ie a youtube video) and select settings in the first tab uncheck hardware acceleration... and thats all... of course our only core will suffer from this decissions but we won't have to reboot.... i've been trying to hang the computer while viewing divx content (ie stage6.com) but this seems to work well as i had no problems even activating the postprocessing deblocking process.... did anyone have any problem with divx player??? phin
Hey Lads, I now have sleep working, i installed kalyways installer but had problems restarting and shutdown. I then reinstalled using iAtkos but didn't select vanilla acpi in the customise section and voila sleep now works fine. All and all, the only things not working on my F3jc is webcam, cardreader and wifi. i've ordered the dell 1390 wifi card off ebay for US $10. I few post in the forums say that it works by default so cross my fingers, this would be the icing on the cake no more lan cable. Cheers Phin

Jump to conclusions to soon, sleep and wake does work with the iatkos(leopard 1.5.1 ) Acpi not the stock (vanilla) but then restart and shutdown seem to not function properly, everything turns off e.g. screen, hd but the power stays on so then you have to hold power switch for 5 seconds to turn off. damm previous when i installed iatkos with vanilla or mod kernel, i would get no response when going to sleep, screen would turn off but nothing else, then screen wouldn't turn on again. i installed with natit nvidia drivers this time maybe this has resolve the screen not turning back issue but then acpi might be getting confuse for the restart and shutdown procedure. antaholics
My computer sleeps.. but doesn't wake up. When I restart, everything turns off but the fan and LEDs are still going.... and it hangs. After 15-20 seconds or so, it reboots When I shut down, it hangs at some shutdown text for a bit.... then the ntfs-3g thing shows up momentarily, and the screen goes off. After a bit of waiting (like reboot), it reboots. Magic?! not a huge deal, but a bit annoying still.... wats the dell 1390 wifi? is it a mini PCI-express card? I was thinking of getting one but I'm not sure how to connnect it since I would have 3 antennas from my wireless N. I ordered a USB alternative though, and it should be here this week. Hope it works! bmonkey
antaholics: could you please post a guide how you did install your current system from scratch? did you use the gold master with the BrazilMac patch, and patched around? What is the best way to get leopard on your F3 series? ToH does not boot for me, i'm loading iAtkos atm... The only verison i did ran "succesfully" yet (safemode only, only bootable by dvd) was uphuck 1.2.... thanks for writing this thread, some hope to get osx ran after all
antaholics
@ bmonkey, This is how I did mine, according to maxoid's method with brazilmac. I haven't tried with iATKOS yet. Please let me know how that goes. The thing is, our motherboard would only boot up with old AppleACPIPlatform.kext and AppleAPIC.kext from 10.4.8 or earlier, which only supports 1 core. To do that, you have to replace the kexts in the DVD/System/Library/Extensions folder. After install I had to (don't know if you're lucky or not) replace all extensions with vanilla extensions from a real iMac, and then update to 10.5.1, then replace AppleACPIPlatform.kext, AppleAPIC.kext, AppleSMBIOS.kext and then add ApplePS2Controller.kext (which the iMac didn't have). Hope this works for you and report back! Ant Hi all, I got Leopard installed on my W7S and can confirm that 8400m G works with QE/CI using 10.5.2 kexts and Nvinject. Installing Leopard was not that difficult. I've used BraizilMac patch. The guide is here http://forum.osx86scene.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=2008 And I've simply replaced AppleACPIPlatform.kext and added AppleAPIC.kext from a working Tiger (you can simply replace the kexts in the patch). After creating a DVD image I've mounted it in read-write mode, created Extensions.mkext, put it to DVD in folder /System/Library and removed /System/Library/Extensions from DVD (reference to this guide http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=75426). Once you've done it, you have an install DVD that will boot with cpus=1 option (-v -x maybe also required, but for me cpus=1 was enough). I believe you can easily guess how to do post-patch after install ) Unfortunately, with EFI patch and stock kernel I can only boot with -x option (Safe Mode) and the /etc/rc trick with SafeBoot="" line doesn't work anymore. So, I'm using a patched ToH 9.1.0 kernel that easily boots with cpus=1 option. Regards, MaX
phin
I simply use the iAtkos V1.0i, avalaible in the usual places. Followed the instructions from this guide. http://inihilist.wordpress.com/2008/01/07/...and-fool-proof/ when "customize" comes in during the boot process select, EFI - stock kernel, do not select stock acpi Drivers - select AppleSMBOIS by netkas VIDEO natit if you have nvidia graphics. Good luck, what model F3 do you have? How do i know if i'm running two cores or one, under leopard system profiles its state 2 cores is this correct. Am hearing many say they only running one core !!!!!
antaholics
@phin: isn't F3JC an older laptop with T2xxx CPU? It appears that the newer F3 series (F3SV, F3E, F3SC, etc) aren't able to run dual core because of the BIOS conflict with ACPI/APIC.... =( Ant
