hi guys, i am new here.

i have an f3-tc

turion x2

1gb ram

hdd sata 80gb

etc...

i got the things to get started but when it comes to "convert" the fat partition in the mac format i cannot

see the disk in the Disk Utility.

and i need help.. sorry, i don't know how to pass that.

thank you

almost forgot: i use the 1.4.8 JaS

First off, thanks to antaholics for the wonderful instructions on the first post. I wouldn't have been able to get anything without them.

I have an Asus F3JP with:

Core 2 Duo T7200 2.0Ghz

ATi Mobility Radeon x1700

1 Gb DDR2 667MHz

120 GB SATA HDD

Realtek HD Audio

1680x1050 screen

1) I followed the steps from the first post and System Profiler said I have one core. I went back and edited the com.apple.Boot.plist to say cpus=2. Now I have 2 cores. My problem arises when i measure the temperature. The cpu idles at 75*C. Is there any way to reduce the temp?

2) In the com.apple.Boot.plist file I changed the original resolution to 1680x1050, yet the screen resolution went to 1440x1050. I then edited it to 1440x900, but it stays at 1440x1050. Can i modify my resolution at all?

3) I have Realtek HD audio on the laptop. Sound comes out of the speakers but not through the headphones. Is there anything i could do?

Hi, I have f3sr and I've installed 10.4.8 JaS, many things are working, but sound, card reader, camera, wireless, ethernet cards aren't working, I've tried alc660 kexts, after copying it tiger detects sound card but there isn't any sound. So, i have wireless usb adapter with zydas 1211 chip, so I've found drivers on the net and installed them, but tiger can't find any airport devices, system pofiler shows that there is connected usb 2.0 wlan. Also on every boot I need to load tiger from install dvd with rd=disk0s2, if not it stucks on "using xxxx buffer.....". I've tried to downgrade bios ver but it isn't helping. Any solutions?

@gandalfk7,

I suggest you try a different version... try a newer Leopard release. (look for 10.5.1)

@python1564,

It might be helpful if you posted which realtek chip you have... I also suggest you try Leopard (10.5.1). Finding the graphics card driver will probably help with the screen resolution too.

@Pinclusss,

Try 10.5.1 (Leopard). It also might help to tell us what computer you have and what the parts are. "wireless" and "lan" isn't descriptive enough.. card reader doesn't work, webcam try "macam" (google) (if it doesn't work not much to do about it).

I don't know what sound card you have, so you need to identify that.

For the Zydas chipset with 1211 driver, you need to open the Zydas program that detects wireless networks separately. Os X will only detect it as a ethernet adapter in network settings.

For getting stuck on boot, please read the first post about how to replace APIC and ACPI kext files.

Hello I have a big problem with audio realtek ALC660 @ Intel 82801GBM1CH7M I try to install the “driver” for f3ja_audio_alc660 (my pc is an asus f3jr very similar to f3ja) but when I copy the file AppleHDA.kext e ALCinject.kext into /system/library/extensions/ the OS sais that it can’t use the extensions /system/library/extensions/ALCinject.kext because it was incorrect installed so It can’t be used!!! What I can do?

My os is Leopard 10.5.1 kalaway with vanilla

hi everybody!

ANT: I haven't gotten a chance to try your com.apple.Boot.plist file yet... but can you explain to me wat the advantages of it are? What does not having to use nvinject and alcinject do?

well ant i copy&paste from this link

But why use "pluggable strings" anyway? (more critique needed)

Current graphics injectors don't support all cards. For instance, nVidia's 8'th generation cards aren't supported by all injectors. This is so because initially, mac os didn't have drivers for these cards. But now, the 10.5.2 update has the drivers for these cards. Still, not all injectors support them.

Now, there are two options:

1- Wait for new versions of these injectors (bad idea).

2- Do what these injectors do ourselves using "pluggable strings"

The second approach has some advantages:

1- No need to wait.

2- Get rid of additional 3rd part kexts.

3- Get a more real-mac-like PC!

yeah if you want "cosmetic changes"

MAXTUNING: Hello I have a big problem with audio realtek ALC660

hello max, no such a big problem... whenever you get a message complaining about a kext because it was incorrect installed so It can’t be used your leo is just asking you to correct permissions...

sudo chown -R 0:0 /System/Library/Extensions/
sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/
sudo rm -R /System/Library/Extensions/Caches
sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions.mkext

you could edit this to a file, make it executable, place it on your desktop and the first time you double-click choose to open always with terminal... this way everytime you change/install/edit/ anything in the extensions folder you just doble-click your desktop file and reboot...

if you dont know , look at first post where Ant explains how to create the original makemkext from alexit (btw where are you alexit? i-ve never thank you for starting this thread and making possible for many of us to run on a Hackintosh....i-ve learned so much... thanks and i hope everithing is going fine for you)

hope this help...

yay someone is back to help me help people troubleshoot! :)

I'm not sure where AlexIT is, but we all really owe him big time. This thread has grown a lot since the beginning... with the heavily modified boot sequence, speakers out... haha

Thanks for explaining about the strings thing... I'll give it a try after I first expand my OS X partition from 35GB to 45GB (I took out Ubuntu cuz I never used it).

I really want to see duo core working... lately I've been trying out VMware fusion and my CPU gets taxed bad with only one core.

I had scrolling touchpad working on Tiger but I didn't try it on Leopard yet... if you want I can send you the file (dont know if it's compatible with Leopard or not) and see how it goes... or I can try to fix it next week when I get reading week!

I've looked everywhere about mapping the keyboard, so far i got home and end to work (sort of) and alt/ctrl switched. I REALLY want to see volume up/down working though... play/pause/ff/rw would be really awesome too.

In case nobody knew, holding F12 down ejects the CD tray! (OS X locks the CD tray when a CD is in there)

oh and is it possible to work the memory card reader? I've been looking around for a small USB card reader to read my SDHC and MS Pro Duo (hopefully no adapter) with no USB cord (so like thumbdrive style) with no success =/

Thanks danif!

EDIT:

10.5.2 IS OUT!!!! :o :o :o

I'll upgrade it tonight :D

instructions: www.netkas.org

remember to back up your Extensions!!

in a first and quickly attempt --- 10.5.2 acpi === "using 10485 buffer... "

i had to copy ACPI/APIC/SMBIOS from working 10.5.1 extensions backup

i had also a kernel panic after follow netkas guide... problems with a kext called ACPI_SMC_Platform in the IOPlatformPluginFamily.kext plugins folder....

so i also had to copy ACPI_SMC_Platform from working 10.5.1 backup....

now im in 10.5.2

cheers

dani

pd> hey ant please send me the modified tiger kext for synaptic scroll or better yet post a link to the guide where this is explained....thanks and happy 10.5.2

hi all,

my computer has been acting up lol... I tried moving my 35GB Leopard partition to a 45GB one... I used Carbon Copy Cloner (CCC) to clone my HD to an external, deleted my original partition, made a new 45GB one, and CCC'ed it back.

The problem was some boot files weren't properly cloned or something.. the system wouldn't boot. I tried a bunch of fdisk -u and fdisk-e and everything, finally having to install kalyway 10.5.1 on top of my installation, then removing the ugly dock...

Then I realized it did something weird to my Extended partitions... Vista can't see them anymore. (XP is on one of them, so no XP for me for now).. and in an attempt to fix them, I screwed up my Leopard partition again! arghhhh

Just now I finally restored Darwin to my Leopard partition and my Vista/Leopard boots, but Vista still can't see any extended partitions... but Leopard can see them fine. In Vista on "diskpart" I see one extended partition with 2 logical drives, but all 3 of them have a partition number "0" so it won't read it.. :P

Anyone have any idea how to fix this? I want my XP and shared partition back!

I am going to try updating to 10.5.2 (hopefully my pc_efi didn't mess up) and post the scrollpad extensions as soon as I find them!

Ant

My 10.5.2 update messed up (somehow the script didn't delete AppleIntelCPUPowermanagement or something, because it KP'ed half way through install and wouldn't boot with any DVD (even after AppleIntelCPUPowermanagement removed)... I've tried everything, and since I have 2 backups anyways, I'm doing a fresh install.

Then I realized my partition table is a bit messed up by fdisk, which explains why I can't see my extended partitions in Windows (my os x drive was taking more space than it actually had, taking over the extended partition). I fixed it but I haven't tried booting into windows yet.

Apparently iATKOS 1.0i R2 doesn't work (can anyone confirm?) I can't boot off of it. I can only boot off my BrazilMac disc (sometimes) and a Kalyway 10.5.1 disc.

hi ant,

Apparently iATKOS 1.0i R2 doesn't work (can anyone confirm?)

confirmed.. it has incompatible asus-f3 acpi... but i made some modifications as explained in this thread (dont remember who post the guide and links, but it is somewhere in pages 6-7-8 i guess) and burned a asus-f3 compatible iatkos iso to dvd...

my advice is to move info from extended partition to external drive and delete the extended partition and the leopard (as you said that you are clean-installing leo)

in my experience corrupted tables between multiples OSes is very hard to fix and you always end with some ploblem in some OS... so if leo partition is the one next to the extended----- backup and delete....

anyway you can try hirens boot cd ... it's plenty of good recovery apps.. as testpart ...that i've just remembered has a macOS build....also remember the next time to save your partition table to a file if you are going to do dangerous works...

i tell you this as i have broken partition tables more than once ;-)

the way i do this::

i use the restore option in disk utility....first erase the destination partition in hfsplus journaled......then in restore tab just drag&drop source and destination partitions....

this clone your partition to the new one... and then follow this great booting guide from gaucho ...link

if you find some problem with the guide, ask me as i have done this at least 5 times in differents setups and all succed..

good luck...

Hey danif,

Thanks for the help. For iATKOS 1.0i r2, just the ACPI and APIC kexts need to be replaced right? do you know if the original iATKOS 1.0i would boot without fixing?

how do you save your mbr/partition table before playing around with it?

I have apparently fixed the partition table via fdisk. needless to say I won't be running too much "reinit" and "update" in a while :censored2:

I think the partition size for leopard was messed up and it tried to take over the extended partition, but editing the number on fdisk (with my trusty Casio-991fx calculator) fixed the issue, and now Vista will boot (the Vista DVD also tried fixing the partition tables slightly) and will see the extended partitions!

so unless something else goes wrong I don't have to touch the partition tables for the time being.

Thanks for posting the guide about cloning bootable partitions.. it'll help out a lot when i need to play with partition sizes next time :(

Right now though, I have my old partition bootable again. I cloned my partition back from the external HD and then booted into my BrazilMac DVD, and then re-did the startupfiletool thing, and somehow it booted.

Right now I want to upgrade to 10.5.2... but I'm not sure what went wrong with my last install. It KP'ed about half way and wouldn't boot no matter what. I'll try again tonight after finishing an assignment on my computer, and hopefully it'll work.

I'll post the trackpad scrolling as soon as I get a few things off my hands!

After that I want to get xcode (finally be able to fit it on my HD lol) and play around with ACPI and APIC kexts. Have you tried it yet?

Thanks,

Ant

Ive got an F3JC and its almost working 100% under 10.5.2 (kalyway).

To get wireless I replaced the Intel card with an Atheros 5008 based mini-pcie card. However; it seems i need something like that ATK HotKey app. Asus has for windows to actually turn on the radio/antenna.

Any1 experienced something similar? ;):(

Hey,

So I finally got 10.5.2 to boot up! I first got a kernel panic having to do with something missing (ACPI?) but I just added the -f flag to get it to rebuild the .mkext file and it would boot.

Anyhow, here's the scrolling kext from Tiger. I haven't tried it in Leopard yet so I don't know if it works. Included is a guide I saw on another post where someone was playing around with it to get the values to work. I used some of my own values but I don't remember them now. Hopefully it works on Leopard (I didn't get a chance to try it yet) and report back!!

@danif,

Do you know how the ACPI and APIC kexts work? I want to take a look in xcode but I don't know if I can do anything. I don't have any programming background, and I'm sure that someone would've come up with something if it were that easy.

Good news!

I went to the store today and copied the entire Extensions folder off of a iMac with Leopard 10.5... put it in my own hackintosh, and then used Pacifist to open up the 10.5.1 updater to put in the new kexts.

Then I had to remove AppleCPUPowerManagement.kext, replace AppleACPIPlatform.kext, AppleAPIC.kext, AppleSMBIOS.kext with patched/old ones, and add dsmos.kext and ApplePS2Controller.kext.

Then it worked!!! :D:P:P (only "cpus=1 -v" tags)

I am so happy :P

Thanks to everyone who helped me out with this!!

Anyhow I added the 10.5.2 beta driver for my graphics card, which worked :D and also the AppleHDA driver from this thread. Now I got internet from the sustworks driver for D-Link DUB-E100 (USB ethernet adapter) and I'm all good to go! (except wireless and webcam).

I also added the Leopard PowerManagement.bundle to help with the battery meter.

attached is the AppleHDA.kext that came with my BrazilMac install.. it had speakers out and MUTE, but no headphones out :(

If anyone can fix it up (I would, but I'm clueless) it would be nice!

Thanks again,

Ant

P.S. anyone know how to change my computer's name? I don't like "apple developer platform"...

P.P.S. now AppleSMBIOS.kext detects my computer as a Mac Pro... before it said F3SV. not complaining or anything, but F3SV sounded better :P

Edit:

Changed my computer name by going to preference panel > sharing :D

Problems:

1. iMovie crashes randomly, printing anything crashes programs (http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=80720)

2. when shutting down the screen turns off but system doesn't shut down

3. UUID errors (fixed)

Well Done antaholics, and many thanks for your great support on this thread :-)

Did you plan to write a tutorial to update from JaS 10.4.8 to Leo 10.5.1 (which release??) just like you've done to install JaS 10.4.8 ?

Thanks again :-)

Hi i'm wondering if anyone managed to get kalway's leopard 10.5.1 working on the ASUS F3E if so please tell how you did it i've managed to install it to the laptop using cpus=1 but now i'm getting buffer error. I'm a newbie so i just want a fast fix! please help!!!!

no roblem.

I don't think I need to write a tutorial for upgrading to Leopard because there isn't a ton of things to do. I believe some distributions work out of the box (I used a brazilmac with a modified ACPI/APIC kext). From what I've personally tried, ToH 10.5 and iATKOS 1.0i R2 don't work (didn't modify them, I'm sure you could), but Kalyway 10.5.1 would boot for me out of the box.

I would imagine upgrading to Leopard isn't much different from a fresh install. You just need to replace AppleACPIPlatform.kext and AppleAPIC.kext from 10.4.8 and use cpus=1. There are far fewer modifications needed than in 10.4.

Good luck!
