I haven't tested hardware-raid yet but everything else works. Even tough you can't boot from the purple ports, when they are in ahci mode it's all good!

 

Ony my 10.4.10 install sleep works like a charm, 10.5 is slightly worse as in, it sleeps fine but never wakes up.

Wakeup on Lan is os independed and relies on your bios/motherboard.

 

PATA worked fine in 10.4 and 10.5 I was able to make a software-raid on ide (for my data)

A package for P35-DS3P and probably others to get working Time Machine, Photoshop and Audio (after the 9a581PostPatch)

It install the necessary kexts (let the choice) with the right permissions , only have to reboot

Anyone else getting "Still waiting for root device" when trying to boot the flat image ("windows install") on a second partition with this board?

 

In fact, you cannot install OSX on a HD plugged in the ich9 sata port, it works if you plug it on the jmicron sata port.

So I have a second hard drive on the JMicron controller and have installed Leo on that. However I'd like to be able to read from my DVD drive and first hard drive, which are connected to the ICH9, without needing to switch over to AHCI mode (since I'd like to dual boot with Windows). Is it possible to get Leo to see the ICH9 when it's in IDE mode, and what patch would I need to accomplish that?

I have Gigabyte P35 S3 (same as DS3) but mine hung after this error:

localhost configd[47]: interfacenamer: no network interface, could not update platform UUID

localhost /user/sbin/ocspd[66]: starting

(at that time GPU slow down fan speed like it entered 3d mode) and it just stay like that

 

also i have 8600gt so thats also prolly nono...

and i used Bizmark partition install

Mine sleep ok, wake up only by power button on front panel( Not by USB mouse or Keyboard

 

I have a P35-DS4 as well with a Q6600 and a USB keyboard and mouse -- for sleep, power button wakes back up, display and keyboard work, but mouse doesn't work, even after replug.

 

Yours does?

 

I have Steermouse and a Logitech MX revolution.

OK, I'm back and the installation of Leopard went silk smooth!

 

1. Used flat image to install from Windows.

2. Booted Leopard, installed the GIGABYTE_P35_DSx_patch, rebooted.

3. "It just works"! Audio (analog audio in/out tested), ethernet and 8800GTS with CI/QE.

 

I'm delighted with how everything worked out with my GA-P35C-DS3R.

 

But of course I still got a couple of questions:

 

1. How do I make the purple jmicron ports to work with Leopard (leopard hangs on boot when trying to boot from one of those ports)? What BIOS settings should I use and what driver do I need? I think someone has posted the solution for this before (at least for Tiger) but I can't seem to find it.

 

2. Is there any disadvantage to the NVinject VRAMtotalsize kext? My 8800GTS works fine (IC/QE works) except that VRAM is detected wrong (256 instead of 320). So if there is any disadvantage with using the NVinject kext I think I'll settle with what I have.

 

3. Is there any patch for making the mouse acceleration more like in Windows? I'm having a hard time getting used to the feel of the mac cursor. I got a Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0 mouse.

Answer for 2:

 

I have applied the mac.nub patch for Nvidia 8800 cards (got a GTS 320) and found that desktop movement seems much smoother (such as dragging, minimizing windows; dock magnification etc.). I recommend it.

 

Answer for 3:

 

I know what you mean. When I first got my Macbook Pro the mouse thing really annoyed me. You get over it fairly quickly though. For my Leopard machine I have a MS Wireless Desktop Elite set. If you go over to the MS download site you'll find that there are Mac OS drivers for MS input devices. I installed that on Leopard and had no issues. In the system panel I am now able to override the Apple mouse tracking with the MS one, which allows for mouse acceleration as well. I found that quite satisfactionary, although still not quite the same as I am used too.

 

 

Question (to all):

 

Does anyone of you (running our MB) have issues with running PPC apps (hence anything that runs under Rosetta) such as Office 2004???

 

Whenever I start any non universal binary application such as Word/Excel/Powerpoint I get an error immediately stating that the application has terminated with the option to reopen it (which then results in the same error).

 

P.S.: Oh and if you could state which install you used (flatimage, patched DVD or else(?)) that would be very helpful with my troubleshooting.Thanks!

The desktop seems smooth to me although I could imagine the genie effect being a little more smooth. Is there any way of restoring my previous installation after testing the mac.nub patch? Oh and I will try out the MS mouse driver right away, thanks for the tip!

 

I used the flat image install from Windows method. Worked perfectly!

 

I'll test some "Rosetta-apps" and will be back with the result of that soon. :censored2:

Just a short summary of my P35-DS3R install.

 

Everything is working fine for me, the only kexts I installed are the ones for the audio part (http://rapidshare.com/files/51585161/alc889a.zip.html).

 

Networking works out of the box with the kalyway dvd.

I did replace one kext to get the dvd-player working with video_ts files (files are in this thread http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=70155)

 

Since I have a Nvidia 6600GS no additional video drivers were needed.

 

I'm running it with a core2duo, 2GB ram, 250Gb SATA-disk and a SATA-DVD-Writer

I've got also an Ds3R, perfect board.

 

I need too to push front power button to wake up :( Mouse or keyboard dont work to wake up...

 

The only issue i have, is after wake up i have to wait over 15 seconds for DHCP working again and have internet access. Nothing like this with tiger... Any idea for this issue ?

Question guys:

So here's the deal with the P35-DS3R motherboard:

 

1. Brazilmac's pre an post-patch work perfect in installation of Leopard.

2. Audio needs to be patched (ie. Kext replacement).

3. Ethernet requires editing of a kext.

4. Sleep works out of the box (but requires pressing the Power button to startup, right?).

 

Is that correct? Can someone please confirm that and/or add more info about getting Leopard to run perfectly on this motherboard! Thanks :P

I have a P35-DS3P, I installed the patch and it worked for sound but I still can't get ethernet... it works in xp. I've also tried this: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=70309 but neither solution works.
You need the correct kext. Use GIGABYTE_P35_DSx_patch to get both ethernet and audio to work. Linked in an earlier post.

The purple ports are the ICH9® SATA ports. Put the ICH9 in to AHCI mode (instead of IDE or RAID mode) and they will work fine.

The JMB363 ones work in OS X fine (at least on my P35C-DS3R and 965P-DQ6) so long as the controller is set to AHCI mode in the BIOS.

Can you boot from the purple ports? I can't.

 

If I move the SATA cable from my HDD with my working Leopard install from yellow to purple I can't boot OS X. If I switch back again it's all fine.

I can't either. I just get a com.apple.boot.plist not found when I try to boot either Tiger or Leo.

i have this same exact problem with an asus p5ke and an 8600gt. i would think it was an 8600gt problem but people install with 8800s so.....any ideas? reb0rn, if you find anything please let me know! this is with a flat image install.

 

i tried a toh dvd install also and i get it installed but it won't boot. i'm gonna try again and see if i screwed something up.

 

btw how do you boot a partition from the dvd? mine just goes through the install again. am i missing something?
