solaar
For those having problems to get pure water down the throat (sadly enough I know a lot of people who have this problem, never understood why) here's a healthy 'trick'. Mix the water with fruit juice (100% and no additives of course) at about 1 part juice and 2 parts water. Don't add anything else. After getting used to it it's really tasty, cheap and sort of addictive. I don't have a problem drinking pure water but I can easily down 4-5 litres of my mix a day. I drink Coke about twice a year and then only half a glass total. Mum's recipe when you feel a bit queasy: slowly drink a few tablespoons of stale Coke at room temperature - the gas must be completely out. Either your body finds the natural way out if you're disgusted or if you can keep it in you'll feel much better after 10 minutes or so. Numberzz
Aww man, I used to love Splenda. I had it all the time. I think I will cut down on it a little and use actual sugar. Better taste here I come! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/63676-water-vs-coke/page/2/#findComment-461524 Share on other sites
Special-K
I'm more of a vitamin water kind of guy. Occasionally if I'm dead tired, I grab an AMP. And I think Splenda gives you cancer. I do drink it sometimes ..but i can say my only two addictions are weed and water ...no kidding there .Well sometimes i drink SoBe or Redbull (energy drinks). Ditto. Except change Redbull to AMP. .aero
i prefer water over coke, but with meals i take coke or juice or somethingyou're right. in your stomach you have about 2mol per litre HCl. the coke has some H3PO4 and citric acid. those 3 acids are only acidic acids, no oxidating ones, pretty harmless. Except for your teeth. Just keep drinking it and you will wear out your enamel to the point where it rots. Then you'll have a beautiful smile! But you'll find several Red Bull imitations. Why would you want to buy them? Because they are a lot cheaper and sometimes they even taste better. Pantalaimon
Coke is practically the only beberage I drink. I have a BMI of around 19, I dont excersise, almost never drink water, and I'm as healthy as the healthiest person in the world . _. I remember when I put a screw in a glass of Coke, I left it there for about 2 weeks, and when I take it out to see if anything happened, and it had not a single spot of stain Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/63676-water-vs-coke/page/2/#findComment-463918 Share on other sites

nev6
I drink mostly water, or tea, or occasionally coffee when I'm working midshift (10 pm to 8:30 am...) I used to drink a lot of soda... then I cut to diet soda (genius right? cancer here I come) and lost a ton of weight doing that... however...weening of that has been a bit difficult for me... there's just something about a crisp cold cola in the morning that really starts the day... but I can kick it for a couple months at a time before I'm back on the wagon... Now I can't stand real soda either, with sugar... so it sucks. Does anyone know of a soda that is sweetened with Stevia or some other non-sugar natural ingredient? Maltilol? xylitol? something... *shrug* Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/63676-water-vs-coke/page/2/#findComment-464206 Share on other sites

nev6
bottled water all the way. i hate toronto's tap water. you should be weary of bottled water in clear (see: non-opaque) plastic bottles... Look at the bottom and see if there's a number 1 inside the recyclable logo or somewhere around there... This type of plastic leeches harmful toxins into your water when heated (see: left in sunlight, on the back of a truck, etc) look into either bottled water in glass bottles, non-harmful plastics (2s,5s,...others), or ideally a re-usable bottle made of stainless or something along those lines...I like klean kanteen brand... sigg is popular also, but there's some speculation over the quality of their metals... not that you care, i'm sure. just a heads up. do some google research Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/63676-water-vs-coke/page/2/#findComment-465689 Share on other sites
solaar
For all the sweet addicts - have you ever tried Stevia sweet leaf? It's at least natural and no adverse effect has been observed/reported (yet?). The Japanese actually use it in most of their sugar-free stuff for years. CLiDE FTW!!1
It doesn't sound sad at all. It sounds very healthy. Apple Juice is almost as bad as Soda Pop. And it depends on the milkshakes. Anything with added sugar has potential to do more harm than good. djet
Being an avid soccer player/fan I noticed when I stopped drinking not-only coke but also anything with caffeine, my playing improved. I wasn't nearly as tired and I didn't get as thirsty playing. It's hard when you're tired late at night or in the morning, but don't "cheat" and use a drug. I love stevia for tea and the ilk, but when you get to most pre-made things, it's not often you see someone using it as an igredient. xylitol is pretty good too (and good for ear infections?!) apowerr
It's hard when you're tired late at night or in the morning, but don't "cheat" and use a drug. I drink coffee almost every morning And how is using drugs 'cheat'[ing]? Caffeine, like some other drugs, is natural. Several large studies have shown that caffeine intake is associated with a reduced risk of developing Parkinson's disease (PD) in men Source Also there is an error in your sig: What does air conditioning and computers have in common? It should be do. (Lawl not trying to be a jerk, just pointing it out. I've had errors in my sigs pointed out to me before XD) And also that doesn't even make sense. I just opened a Finder Window, then I even opened a *gasp* Safari Window and... nothing happened! I wasn't screwed. Numberzz
While Coke is bad, and I generally drink water, you can't say that it's bad. Especially other drugs. When I'm tired (or bored), I drink some. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/63676-water-vs-coke/page/2/#findComment-496483 Share on other sites
