Attached the ethernet kext (took it from the iATKOS DVD, it's an installer) ;)

you might want to click on the "+" button in the Network screen to add your ethernet connection ;)

Thank you, but it unfortunately does´nt work for me, because my vaio has a marvell yukon chip. But I try the marvell package from iatkos and it did´nt work to. :(

we have to find how to get the brightness working on our machine.

my vaio is a sz so an ultrportable with good battey life in xp but because brightness doesn't work on leo and tiger we can't use the laptop for traveling using osx

I have search and it seems that if we are able to find an appleintegratedframebuffer from 10.4.3 it will be possible .

so if anyone is able to find it it should be very good

For those of you who are looking to get the battery icon working in Leopard (EFI + vanilla kernel), stop looking :P

I've attached AppleACPIPlatform.kext, which gives you the battery icon back :)

Installation instructions:

OK here it goes with full instructions:

I will use terminal for all actions, put the modified kext in a folder called "a" on root folder.

1- remove the stock AppleACPIPlatform.kext from /System/Library/Extensions

~sudo -s

~ rm -R /System/Library/Extensions/AppleACPIPlatform.kext

2- copy the modified kext to Extensions folder

~ cp -R /a/AppleACPIPlatform.kext /System/Library/Extensions/AppleACPIPlatform.kext

3- Repair Permissions of the kext file

~ chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/AppleACPIPlatform.kext

~ chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/AppleACPIPlatform.kext

5- Repair General permissions

~ diskutil repairPermissions /

6- reboot

I found it somewhere at the iATKOS forums! dunno from who it was so I can't credit him (or her :P) :D

Enjoy :)

Just download Windows XP MCE and use they key on the bottom of your laptop! it will work :D

Sorry, but I can't upload the recovery CD's because it will take me weeks to get that uploaded! Downloading MCE should be the best option (since I did that too :) )

Hi ,

for those who has a vaio sz and want to use it with osx like a real ultraportable with the gma 950

I just manage to decrease brightness for tiger and leopard

all is here at the end of the second page

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...65480&st=20

I can now decrease brightness owith windows and keep the setting on osx

now osx doesn't increase brightness during boot.

I have tried my sz on battery and I have 4 hours of battery life on wifi and surf on the web

It's pretty good because I have 5 hours on xp

ehternet works with the right kext, but not from the first time. the first time you'll use it, it won't work, but if you reboot it will work!

I'll try kalyway this evening, had some problems! strange that the vaio boot logo broke it :s

I have a vio TZ-17MN ethernet not working with Kalyway. Where do I find the right kext and how do I install them? Thank you for any help. Cheers, Y

For those of you that want to get tapping working on their Alps touchpads (dunno if it works on other touchpads), you may try out the attached kext!

I've been using it for some time and it works great! It also adds support for two finger scrollin (like on real Mac's) but it doesn't work that good for me! (you can disable it  )

Installation:

I will use terminal for all actions, put the modified kext in a folder called "a" on root folder.

1- remove the stock ApplePS2Controller.kext from /System/Library/Extensions

sudo -s
rm -R /System/Library/Extensions/ApplePS2Controller.kext

2- copy the modified kext to Extensions folder

cp -R /a/ApplePS2Controller.kext /System/Library/Extensions/ApplePS2Controller.kext

3- Repair Permissions of the kext file

chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/ApplePS2Controller.kext
chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/ApplePS2Controller.kext

5- Repair General permissions

diskutil repairPermissions /

6- reboot

I think most of the current VAIO's are using Alps touchpads! The FE series certainly does ;)

You'll only need the EDID info. Gotoh (NVInject) is working on this!

I'll start testing with thim within some days! Hadn't got the time until now! As soon as he has some time I'll try some things out! I'll first that with what he has suggested before :)
