jalavoui
following is log in linux and iwi2200_v4(+my editting version.)'vantronix' is network name of my AP. I seem that scanning is successed. but Firmware error alway occur after Assocation attempt.... firmware should be changed? You might check the firmware loading, i run a test with ipw_associate_network and get the same firmware bug Jan 15 11:32:30 Y2 kernel[0]: darwin_iwi2200: setPOWER 1, 0 0 0 0 you're using the IO80211.kext from 10.4.8 i've tested this framework and i found out that it crashes the driver. on the other hand the setPOWER and other routines are called by the driver. don't you think it will be better to use the 10.4.7 IO80211 family for now? i'm trying to do some work with the ipw->rx queues. i'll post news soon

minimoa
Hi, i've tried iwi3945.kext, sudo -s move iwi3945.kext to /System/Library/Extensions chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/iwi3945.kext chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/iwi3945.kext rm /System/Library/Extensions.mkext rm /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache kextcache -k /System/Library/Extensions/ reboot this kext recognized my intel 3945 card as airport but no wireless acces point found. When i want to put my acces point manually, my computer freeze,i've 10.4.8 official kexts from the combo update and semthex's kernel. Thanks jalavoui for your hard work, hope it work one day. kevinosx
Intel 3945abg, using 10.4.8 combo update from Mac with latest simthex kernel. dropped kext in system/library/extensions, authenticated, repaired permissions. Rebooted typed the following from terminal: sudo -s chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions touch /System/Library/Extensions everything appears to be there and working except that I can't see any wireless networks to join, it just has the base options to create one etc. Wow, looking good though! great job! EDIT: if I push "create network", or "turn airport off", nothing happens. Here are some logs, a couple of errors in there!! Picasosz
This may seem weird but after shutting down and restarting three times the computer started normally and showed the airport icon. In system profiler it showed third party wireless... could not connect with any network open or WPA Personal I have uninstalled the kext unless you need more detailed info I am willing to help. patatester
Thanks for the first release! Its not working out so well for me, but its a start. The card is detected, although the MAC address is still at 00:00:00:00:00... There doesn't seem to be much happening though. Scanning yields no results, turning the airport off does nothing also, and if I try to assign a custom ap name , the kernel panics. So here are some logs from my machine, theres the system.log , dmesg and ioreg Theres one spot within the system.log where the kernel panics, and it is clearly indicated. the dmesg output is the output after the kernel paniced and i had to reboot. Let me know if you'd like anything help that would speed up the progress!! EDIT : using 3945 ioreg.txt dmesg.txt system.txt Edited January 16, 2007 by patatester

eLMafUDd
I think that this thread should be moved to the X labs and given a more appropriate title.
macstibs
I have a Sony UX180p with the 8.4.1 kernel and 10.4.8 that was delta-upgraded from the Jas 10.4.6 DVD. The laptop has the 3945 chipset. I installed the kext, repaired, etc and rebooted. The icon is now in the menubar and it shows up on the Network Prefs list, but as reported by others, I can't get a connection to any AP. However, I haven't had a kernel panic yet (hope I don't jinx myself). I'll post some logs when I get a chance. I did notice that in the System Profiler, the kext is listed as having two broken dependencies -- IO80211Family and IONetworkingFamily. Oddly, the NetworkingFamily (ver 1.5.0) is listed as loaded and the 80211Family (ver 1.0) is listed as not loaded because the NetworkingFamily dependency is listed as - No valid version of this dependency can be found. Edit: Knucklehead that I am, I didn't notice the requirements for a 80211Family version of 1.1. I updated it to 1.1.1 but still no love. ------------ Intel 3945abg (not working yet) Edited January 16, 2007 by macstibs
patatester
macstibs, if you want to test something, my kernel paniced when i tried the custom option to associate to my router. I put in the ESSID and bang, it paniced, we could maybe determine if this is the actual cause of my panic, or its something else...

I put in the ESSID and bang, it paniced, we could maybe determine if this is the actual cause of my panic, or its something else... I'm actually able to enter an AP through the Other... option but the association doesnt work. I get an error but no kernel panic. I've also noticed that the system isn't pulling the MAC addy off the card so its certainly possible the reason my system isn't panicing is because it's not getting far enough along in the load process to get there. ioreg.txt Edited January 16, 2007 by macstibs
