After fiddling around with WhateverGreen (OFF before the last step of the installation, then ON for the last step), all good.

Why is this, by the way? Is there a way to have everything working with WEG enabled the whole time? If I enable it, I can't complete installation (stuck at quarter of the loading bar). If I disable it, I can complete the installation, but I can't boot to desktop (boot loop, can't even get to OC picker). What's going on?

FileVault was not an issue for me, for the past few updates. It was disabled, and it stayed disabled.

Yes, I tried different USB ports 2 and 3 to no avail.  Here is my config list.  Thank you

config.plist 50.01 kB · 7 downloads

Try   config.plist.zip

USBPorts.kext if you generated it with Hackintool, you need to convert it for Tahoe ( Smbios to )

I don't think OCLP is ready for Intel Graphics 4600 though.

Yesterday, macOS 26 beta 5 was released. In this beta, it is still necessary to patch the AppleHDA.kext. A new visual change is present in this beta 5: the icons representing the internal drives. See the before and after photos of macOS Sequoia and macOS Tahoe.
The Hackintool application closes when we reach the SOUND section once the AppleHDA.kext is parked.
If anyone has experienced any other significant changes, please share them in the group.

I have also experienced that if we patch the AppleHDA.kext the active system hard drive icon returns to the same as in macOS Sequoia

We're tired of forcing 580 to have acceleration or disabling whatevergeen during install. Your method did work for us since B1.

So we decided to fake the devID of 580 with -radvesa just to be sure.

Now my friend is a happy man since B2

OK, about the disk icons.

No, about Hackintool. It works here.

As an RX580 user as well please elaborate on the details.

To do clean Tahoe installs I have to fake SmBIOS to start with then switch to my normal 20,20 Mac Model.

You are absolutetly right, I do it the same way so it's not really the best

on my PC with the Radeon Pro WX4100

Why change the SMBIOS though...? I never had to do this during installation.. I did change from MacPro7,1 to iMac20,1 but that was only in an attempt to fix this boot to black screen issue. Nothing else. :)) So not during the same installation. But only as a test, from one beta to the other.

So, for updates, I only need to disable WEG, for the installation, then re-enable it for the last part, and for normal boots.👢

For fresh installs...to be honest, after the last fiasco, I haven't even attempted that anymore. :))) I would think....that it should work by only disabling WEG, and re-enabling it later on. But I haven't actually tested it. And I'm trying to keep what's left of my neurons after TheHoe took most of them away, for other tasks. :)) So...I don't feel like starting it all over again.

But...the point I'm trying to make is that you probably don't need to change SMBIOSes... Do you? I mean, what are you switching from? What's the "helper" SMBIOS?

Smooth, uneventful upgrade from Tahoe Beta 4 -> Beta 5 on my HackMini8,1 with Polaris RX 560x.  I'm using VoodooHDA.kext 3.0.2  with csr-active-config = <01000000> for audio, so no need for any post-install patches (and no need to revert any patches).  My steps for the upgrade are listed below.  Note that I did need to disable BluetoolFixup.kext for the incremental OTA upgrade.  With BluetoolFixup.kext enabled, OTA upgrade reverted to the full 16.6GB installer.  Without BluetoolFixup.kext, OTA upgrade was 3GB incremental.

  1. Boot macOS Tahoe with BluetoolFixup.kext disabled and boot-arg -wegnoegpu (leave WhateverGreen.kext enabled for UHD630 iGPU framebuffer patches)
  2. Perform OTA upgrade

    Screenshot2025-08-06at7_46_19AM.png.4cc132c609509d654cf70aa3620b9573.png

  3. Re-enable BluetoolFixup.kext and remove boot-arg -wegnoegpu

Sound continues to work flawlessly without any additional operations, since I'm using VoodooHDA.kext.  I haven't needed to touch VoodooHDA.kext since initially installing it and setting csr-active-config = <01000000> in Tahoe Beta 2.  Audio quality is excellent.

EDIT: FileVault was off prior to the incremental OTA upgrade from Beta 4 -> Beta 5 and remained off after the upgrade.  No issues with FileVault.

SmBIOS 20,20 is my long time Mac Model and so loathed to change it.

I do clean installs preferably than updates whenever possible, it's just a quirk of mine.

Installation with a 20,20 SmBIOS is nigh impossible with WEG.kext enabled.

With the kext enabled, the installation stalls at KC etc, etc.

With the kext disabled, the install goes to a black screen.

As SmBIOS Mac Pro can runs with the absence of the WG.kext, this is the way I do the installation all the way to the Tahoe Welcome Screen.

At that point, I force a restart but with my iMac 20,20 EFI Folder in place and carry on with the registration after the Welcome Screen.

This Method works very well for me every time.

Yeah...sounds like AGPM issue all over again...

I see there was (2021 seems to be the last official update of this) an AGPMInjector app that generates a kext which should help with this.

Here's the link, if you wanna give it a try.

Thanks @eSaF @strangeron I try to boot Beta 6 from USB with Lilu debug + WEG. No "Kextlog: Collection UUID matches with loaded KCs" issue. But stuck after entering password session like previous Beta. Like for Beta 4, I will wait 25-30 minutes if desktop appear. I hope.

Next time, I will disable WEG on my Z390 machine. I don't know if WEG is necessary for RX580 graphics card !!!!

Speaking of BT, does your Mic work with BT headphones? Mine does not. Only headphones work. Mic does not get any input.
