sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/FeatureFlags/Domain/SpotlightUI.plist SpotlightPlus -dict Enabled -bool true

I'm on Beta 4. This works.
On Reddit (link I sent earlier), it says it doesn't work even when using the command in the terminal.
Can you check?

EDIT 1:
Launchpad stopped working completely in Tahoe DB5 (reddit)

EDIT 2:
Even using this app: https://github.com/ggkevinnnn/Launchpad-Saver?
Was it really removed by Apple?

@webipsum

sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/FeatureFlags/Domain/SpotlightUI.plist SpotlightPlus -dict Enabled -bool false

Launchpad doesn't work when you use the command.

sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/FeatureFlags/Domain/SpotlightUI.plist SpotlightPlus -dict Enabled -bool true

When you use the command, Launchpad will start working again.

The guy used "-bool false" instead of "-bool true"

He wanted the app to launch with a command that says not to launch :frantics:

Hey,

I tried the info at the link

@Zevgoli

https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Install-Guide/troubleshooting/extended/kernel-issues.html#waiting-for-root-device-or-prohibited-sign-error

But there was nothing there to help.

  • UEFI -> Quirks -> ReleaseUsbOwnership -> True
  • Enabling EHCI/XHCI Handoff in the BIOS can fix this as well

Neither are in my bios which I must admit is very basic.

The system does see the USB installer and I can select install Tahoe beta but then I get the prohibited sign right after.  Quite frustrating.

And what about this one?

Sometimes, if the USB is plugged into a 3.x port, plugging it into a 2.0 port can fix this error and vice versa.

Also, share your EFI folder, we'll take a look at it.

Well, that was an adventure - as it always seems to be with Tahoe

Initially, I was able to do the download upgrade, but then it stopped in the middle of upgrading my system (Intel, that is).  Then I let it sit for about an hour, and it crawled through about four lines and after an hour I was out of patience.  Time for a reset and a new approach, or so I thought.

This time I downloaded OpenCore 1.0.6 (the latest debug version I could get), and simplified my config.plist radically (including simplifying all my BIOS settings too).  I rebooted my PC, did a reset, and reloaded again.  This time, it just blew through the lines that it couldn't get past before and in less than five minutes, B5 was up and running.  Go figure.

Performance is about the same - a bit slower on the GPU, but, after all, its a Beta, so that's expected.  I was also able to load Whatevergreen with this Beta.  It didn't make much of a difference actually.

I restored all my BIOS settings and config.plist settings one by one as I was trying to see if there was one that was causing the initial B5 install problem, but I couldn't find it.  They all loaded normally.

I now have B5 on my two Macs (M1 and M5), and my Intel Hack - but the first one to get the upgrade was the Intel Hack, then the M1 and the M4 was the last.  I did notice that the Spotlight bug was fixed with this version.  Oddly, it was a big hassle on my M4 - most of the time it just wouldn't work, but its fixed now, on all of my machines.

I keep hoping that these Tahoe versions would settle out a bit and get easier to install and maintain, but not yet.  Still a challenge.
