Why are you using XhciPortLimit-patch when you already have the Z270-XHCI.kext? Don't change anything in the config.plist I provided you earlier.

XhciPortLimit -> NO. ;)

And then you should update to 0.5.0

Hello everyone

First of all, huge thanks to the developers for putting so much effort into OpenCore!

I've been trying to make OpenCore work on my Lenovo Thinkpad T440p for a few days now, and today I was finally able to boot! However, even though the OS itself mostly works fine, it seems like the hardware side of things doesn't work very well – no brightness control, battery reporting or audio.

My Clover configuration utilizes some Clover functions like FixHPET and others, and I imagine, since they're not present on OpenCore, the ACPI doesn't work like it should.

Is there anything I can do to make brightness, sound and battery reporting work? Thanks in advance!

Any hint how to reach -v or -s with hotkeys on PS2.

On PS2 hotkeys works only in the menu. At first come into the menu with the help ESC or use ShowPicker=Yes

Working on porting X99 C612 Xeon v3 Haswell-EP on macOS 10.14.6 with Clover over to OpenCore

I need to specify the memory modules (quad channel, 8 ECC RDIMMs DDR3) to get past End RandomSeed because there is no XMP for ECC RDIMMs, only SPD.

The configuration document does not specify this option is available under PlatformInfo/{NVRAM,SMBIOS} where it is in Clover. Is this a feature request / bug report or did I miss the option somewhere?

custom memory map is not implemented yet: https://github.com/acidanthera/bugtracker/issues/381

Tried this:

[Resolved] This is MSR register asynchronicity issue particularly noticable on Gigabyte 100/200 series motherboard. Toggle AppleCpuPmCfgLock and AppleXcpmCfgLock will resolve this issue.

Hi there. I'm switching from Clover to OpenCore 0.5.1 on Skylake platform (Gigabyte H170N-Wifi) and is now stuck in "End Randomseed". I was thinking it might be the APTIOMemoryFix thing but I've found out it has been merged in AppleSupportPkg, and as long as I have ConsoleControl enabled it should be fine. I've checking the reference manual for days but still cannot figure out what's going on.

Being desperate I'd like to kindly ask for advice, with the only boot message, my EFI folder tree and my config.plist (following the vanilla guide, Skylake section). Thanks.

Enabling AppleCpuPmCfgLock and AppleXcpmCfgLock did not result in any progress. Nor did Enabling AppleXcpmExtraMsrs.

Unfortunately verbose and single user mode won’t work via hotkeys(tried with shift and cmd no go).  I saw similar issue on Acidanthera bugtracker. Good news, ShowPicker=Yes instead of ESC. Without it my keyboard would’ve been done within week. Thanks anyway.

My port usage is bit different. Attached is my kext. Please see if there's anything wrong.

I have a Corsair H100i v2 cpu cooler connected to HS14. Could that be causing issue?

I have also attached my ioreg

Thanks

Specify the required section in the settings.
Reboot the PC several times to see if there is a problem.

Hi,

i write again on this thread because i've a problem and i don't understand what is causing it.

Since a week now every time i switch on the laptop it does a ram memory test (it takes around 20 seconds) without errors. After that sometimes it says unable to find a boot device, i click on ok the laptop restart and this time it boot succesfully.

Usually i would think there is an hardware problem but when the laptop starts i can work on it without issues for hours or even days if i don't switch it off. Not a single crash or kernel panic (and i use it for rendering so i stress it quite a lot).

So it seems strange it's an hardware problem. The other thing i've noticed is if i run a Windows 10 live version i've on usb and i switch it off from there i don't have the ram test at boot. So the question is ... Could be something related to OpenCore settings ?

Thanks

Mattia

Firstly this is not a OC problem so this is off topic.

Secondly you messed up my USB 15 portlimit kext (You have only 14 ports in your edited kext).

If you want more help you have to PM me.

First I got this error, And I thought I forgot the add AppleGenericInput.efi. I installed this efi and just OCS failed left. But now I can see the boot screen.  When I try to boot its stuck on the second photo. I can't boot.

The "OCS: Failed to parse string field of type 1or 2" is mostly related to your PlatformInfo > SMBIOS Section. Depending also if "Automatic" is engaged, you do not have to put the same infos on config multiple times.  Read the manual..

you can also use the terminal command :

opendiff configA.plist configB.plist

(assuming you have Xcode & opendiff installed )

To compare your "config.plist with the sample.plist given on OC005 ( change name of config accordingly ). Best of luck

PS: The kind people helping you in this site are not suppose to do everything for you. It seems nobody wants to put efforts nowadays. :thumbsdown_anim:
