    OpenCore Discussion

Can I propose a new subforum be created for the new OpenCorePkg OpenCore front end being created by vit9696 and others, it is a fantastic piece of work: https://github.com/acidanthera/OpenCorePkg Even at version 0.1 it runs my Mojave 10.14.4 setup very nearly flawlessly. It consists of a 10KB bootstrap BootX64.efi and a 200KB OpenCore.efi OS loader. All configuration is done using a very well documented config.plist

    Version 1.0.9

*Put the script into its own folder as it will create other folders* What is BTB? Script file to clone and help build Clover or Opencore repos Script will create link to itself in /usr/local/bin/bob Script SHOULD fix up any stray bobs you may have. Then you only need to type bob. and a parameter "a" for ACID repo, official "d" for ACID repo DUET build "c" for CLOVER "e" to erase UDK Folder Easier typing bob than.....usual stuff YOU WILL NEED TO cmod+x THE SCRIPT Enjoy
  3. So I got some new hardware: Asus Z490I Gaming ITX NZXT H1 Case Intel i9-10900 samsung 970 EVO plus NVME SK Hynix 1TB SSD 32GB G.Skill 3200 C14 Ram MSI 5700 XT Evoke So I got windows installed and wanted to install macOS using opencore. I had no luck getting past the [EB|#LOG:EXITBS:START] error and decided to use someone else's EFI who had the same motherboard minus the CPU and GPU (i7-10700k and Radeon VII). I went ahead with that EFI and voila got it to install and got past the error I had. The issue was after the install there is a reboot and that's where it hangs and give me an error log that I attached. Tried a few more things to see what I could do but was stuck on that error log every single time. Decided to try again today and now I can't get past the original error log. I've looked at the dortania guide for that error and tried everything it suggested but still won't get past the error. Not sure what else to do but to try Clover maybe. Anyone have any suggestions? I've attached my EFI as well. Thanks in advance. Installer_Log_8-Jul-2020.txt EFI.zip
  4. Hi, I have a small problem with my Open core Hackintosh build. I actually got EFI from someone on the internet and tweaked it a bit so I could get up and running. Here is my EFI. My laptop boots fine but while booting, it shows the apple logo for the first 5 seconds, then goes blank for 2-3minutes and then I see apple login screen. This happens every time. I tried a few config edits but didn't work. Can someone look into my EFI and suggest any necessary changes that can improve boot times? Thanks in advance

  6. Hi, I wanted to transpose my CLOVER installation to OpenCore for future updates. I followed this guide and after some googling https://github.com/dortania/vanilla-laptop-guide I've fixed the LOG: EXITBS error (RANDOM SEED like error). Now I still receiving the IOPCI error (kernel_task kernel panic). My CLOVER is fully working. - Backlight and Monitor - Trackpad - i7-7700HQ - Battery Patch - Camera and Audio (B&O) - Keyboard - dGPU GTX 1050 is turned off On OpenCore I translated everything except the battery (I just need to apply the If statement in ACPI), but I want first to boot on Mac OS using the OpenCore. OpenCanopy Icons

Notes 1 - OpenCanopy is a graphical user interface for OpenCore. 2 - It's currently considered experimental and is not recommended for everyday use. 3 - This is not a support topic for OpenCanopy but instead somewhere to discuss icons. 4 - See OpenCore documentation for how to configure and set up OpenCanopy. Overview Many users like to keep their hacks looking as close to a mac as possible by using OpenCanopy with Apple's own icons, however for users that may want to deviate from Apple's boot icons for a more custom look, they're left with having to find their own icons from various places which can sometimes result in a not so consistent theme feel. To help, I am aiming to create families of 'similar' icons, amongst others, which may eventually lead to a more harmonious look when mixing/customising icons. The idea is that eventually there will be a large 'pick and mix' range of icons where the user can choose which ever ones they like whilst knowing they will all look like they're meant to be together. Of course, I could never come up with every permutation that someone could imagine so there will always be icons missing from the range, but over time I hope to grow the collection(s). git Repository https://github.com/blackosx/OpenCanopyIcons
  8. I'm transitioning from Clover to Opencore. I thought the process will be simpler but it turns out it isn't. I have created a bootable Catalina USB with Opencore but stuck at this error. I have attached my EFI and the verbose output. Anyone please provide some guidance please? 9. Hi there, If anyone could help I'd be very grateful, I'm trying to move from Clover to OC but have hit a brick wall for the last 2 days. It's an ACPI table error: SB_.PCIO.XHC_RHUB.HS11, Namespace lookup failure. Skylake Build: OpenCore 0.5.9 Mojave 10.14.6, iMac17,1 Asus Maximus Hero VIII 6700K I've attached the config.plist and ACPI folder. EFI Drivers: OpenRuntime.efi and HfsPlus.efi Kexts: IntelMausi, Lilu, VirtualSMC, Whatevergreen Things I've tried... 1) Clearing NVRAM (as it was previously booted by Clover) 2) Hackintool USB Mapping: both the SSDT files and the USBPorts.kext 3) USBInjectAll.kext (with and without SSDT files) 4) SSDT-RHUB.aml. This seems to be directly involved, spent a long time with this but with no luck. I followed this guide: https://dortania.github.io/Getting-Started-With-ACPI/Universal/rhub-methods/manual.html Everything is XHC in my DSDT, except these definitions at the top (line 72 and 73): External (_SB_.PCI0.XHC_.DUAM, MethodObj) // Warning: Unknown method, guessing 0 arguments External (_SB_.PCI0.XHC_.RHUB.INIR, MethodObj) // Warning: Unknown method, guessing 0 arguments So I edited the SSDT-RHUB.dsl to this: /* * Goal of this SSDT is to shut off the RHUB to force macOS into * manually building ports when the ACPI is screwed up */ DefinitionBlock ("", "SSDT", 2, "DRTNIA", "RhubOff", 0x00001000) { External (_SB_.PCI0.XHC.RHUB, DeviceObj) // Full pathing to RHUB, change to yours Scope (_SB.PCI0.XHC.RHUB) // Full pathing to RHUB, change to yours { Method (_STA, 0, NotSerialized) { If (_OSI ("Darwin")) { Return (Zero) // This disables the device only in macOS } Else { } } } } Which results in this AML version: DefinitionBlock ("", "SSDT", 2, "DRTNIA", "RhubOff", 0x00001000) { External (_SB_.PCI0.XHC_.RHUB, DeviceObj) Scope (_SB.PCI0.XHC.RHUB) { Method (_STA, 0, NotSerialized) // _STA: Status { If (_OSI ("Darwin")) { Return (Zero) } Else { } } } } But I get the same error. I'm at a complete loss, can anyone help? config.plist ACPI.zip
  10. Lenovo T460 macOS with Clover Guide Latest Release on GitHub (March 2020) Updated to Clover r5105 Updated Lilu based kexts - Lilu, ALC, WEG Added AirportBrcmFixup.kext Various Tweaks over Last months The main branch in my github repo is a complete Clover ESP (/EFI) bundle and kext pack for the Lenovo T460. The current file bundle seems to work on Sierra, HighSierra, Mojave and Catalina. There is an OpenCore branch in the repo as an alternative to Clover. This guide was developed for a Clover implementation. But the thread has evolved to include discussion of both Clover and Opencore for these systems: T460 and T470 family of ThinkPads. Full Clover file set - config.plist etc. Includes all custom kexts Includes custom DSDT/SSDT scripts and patches Utility scripts The zip bundles are posted to GitHub: https://github.com/tluck/Lenovo-T460-Clover/releases Caveat: The T460 systems used here was configured with: i5-6300U, Intel HD Graphics 520, 1920x1080 touch screen. If you have a different system model, then extract the ACPI files and use the included scripts to create a set of files consistent with your system type and BIOS version. See below for details. Credits: RehabMan, Shmilee, vusun123, TimeWalker, Mieze from which, much of their work and help is/was was used to get the T460 to this point. Devices and aspects working: Ethernet - Intel I219LM is enabled via IntelMausiEthernext.kext WiFi/BT - substitute the Intel WiFi/BT with a compatible Broadcom or Atheros chip Audio - ALC293 codec implemented via AppleALC.kext (the old AppleHDA_ALC293 and CodecCommander kexts are not needed) PS2 - ClickPad + TrackPoint + all 3 buttons - using a modified VoodooPS2Controller to support new layouts - and added some custom Fn key maps based on 440/450 dsdt USB - implemented via custom SSDT + USBInjectAll kext. All USB3/USB2 ports are intel-based and work - 3 external USB and internal Camera, BT, etc Sleep/Wake - the sleepwatcher package and custom sleep/wake scripts are used to help with sleep/wake for BT and PS2 devices. Note: have not tried to implement the SD card reader - no driver found. 11. Finally I was able to move from Clover to OpenCore 0.5.9 on my hackintosh build. It boots really fast and even with the famous boot chime. I attached the OC config.plist for anyone who wants to give it a try. I followed the Github step-by-step guide: Haswell · GitBook dortania.github.io My build specs are:Gigabyte Z97-HD3 rev. 2.1, i5-4690K, 16 GB RAM, Gigabyte Aorus AMD RX 580 8gb GPU.I used OpenCanopy to give a Clover feeling to the OpenCore boot menu (I don’t like list-type boot menus). config.plist
  12. OC forked https://github.com/n-d-k/OpenCorePkg. Additional features/changes: ============ [ Multi-Boot ] - ACPI patches and Booter Quirks are optional for non macOS with setting ACPI->Quirks->EnableForAll / Booter->Quirks->EnableForAll to yes (default is no). - SMBIOS and Device Properties patches will only applied to macOS. [ Hotkeys ] - Full functional Hotkeys [1-9] corresponding to Boot Entry's Index number and dedicated W (Windows) / X (macOS) keys can be used without seeing Boot Picker. - While in boot picker, F10 can use to take a snapshot of the screen. [ Ui Boot Picker ] - Bios Date/time, auto boot to the same OS or manual set to always boot one OS mode, and OC version are displayed in boot picker. - Auto boot to previous booted OS (if Misc->Security->AllowSetDefault is NO/false). - macOS Recovery/Tools Entries are hidden by default, use Spacebar/Mouse click right in Boot Menu as a toggle on/off to show/hide hidden entries. - Mouse supported. [ Custom Entries ] - Custom entries are now listed first in picker menu and by the orders they are appeared in Misc->Boot->Entries, before all other entries. - Ability to change entry name found by auto scanner by adding custom entry with the exact same device path, this will give users the option to complete change how all boot entries listed in Boot Picker. [ Others ] - No verbose apfs.efi driver loading (if using apfs.efi instead of ApfsDriverLoader.efi). - ndk-macbuild.tool script are set to compile with latest edk2 (One can easily set to stable edk2 if prefer). Usage: - To build OpenCore, run "./ndk-macbuild.tool" at Terminal (require Xcode and Xcode Command Line Tool installed, and open xcode to accept license agreement before compiling). 4k light theme 4k dark theme.

    OpenCore doesn't boot

So I have some less powerful hardware, that's why I'm installing High Sierra in 2020. Anyway, I'm trying to boot from the USB and I get the following errors: 00:000 00:000 OCB: Missing DMG signature, aborting 00:585 00:585 OCB: LoadImage failed - Unsupported That's it. I have the 512GB version with 4GB of RAM I found a lot of forum posts about people having the same error, except nothing solved mine. Also, I haven't found anything online about the error with the Missing DMG Signature. EDIT: If anybody needs my config.plist, feel free to ask for it and I'll happily post it
  14. After hearing that OpenCore is so much better than Clover, and that it will probably be able to boot Big Sur before Clover does, I decided to take the jump. Running Catalina 10.15.5 18F101 with OC 0.5.9. So far I like the result. The OS feels faster, boots faster. And absolutely everything works (sleep, network, etc...) So, that's it? Is there anything else I have to do?
  15. I was previously using clover with Catalina and on that everything worked very good, now i shifted to Opencore everything is working on laptop except trackpad, from windows is searched that my trackpad is "Microsoft HID" and i have tried all the VoodoI2 kexts, seperately like VoodoI2CHID, VoodoI2CELAN, VoodoI2CSynaptics but trackpad won't work. Previously i was using VoodoI2CHID on clover and trackpad was working very fine. Kindly help me in that, a little help would be appreciated. I have attached my OpenCore EFI Folder OC EFI.zip
  16. Z77MX-QUO-AOS Migrating from OZ to OpenCore (based on OpenCore 0.5.7-2020-03-08) 0) Disclaimer : This a Guide for the QUO motherboard, 100% to fail on any other. I have not tested it with iGPU only so take note. I have not tested it with any other SMBIOS than iMac13,2. I have not tested 'FileVault' drives or Fusion drives. 1) Backup your current firmware and settings use Q-Flash Save BIOS to ROM... if you don't and end up with a brick you deserve what is happening to you 2) Backup your data, only fools don't take backups Follow these steps ..don't come bitching if you don't do them in the correct order (and don't be creative, well you can be after you make it work with this recipe) 3) Retrieving info, you will need using HackinTool Board Serial Number ROM ModelIdentifier Serial Number System ID 4) Download "OC to OC Migration.zip" (to come) and extract it 5) Now Open this file using XCode or your favorite Plist Editor 6) Fill in the info from Step 3 in the Generic Section (don't touch anything else) 7) Save as config.plist 8) Open your EFI folder from your boot drive (the one that has the OZ folder), time to copy the stuff over 9) Time to flash the OC-friendly firmware, put the firmware on a USB stick and flash it 10) If all goes well when it reboots , you will see the original QUO Boot Logo and then it will greet you with a Bootpicker screen .. kinda like when you hold Option on a real Mac. something like (to see reset NVRAM, Recovery HD and access to UEFI Shell from this screen .. press Spacebar) 11) Choose which OS to Boot and enjoy! Special Topics: The OC-friendly firmware basically it is : The H20-XMASS firmware stripped of Ozmosis, FakeSMC, HFS, APFSDriverLoader,VoodooHDA and anything Oz specific while retaining the DSDT that made it special snapped back the QUO Boot Logo from the original firmware (F3A) was the only way I found to fix black screen on cold boot Optimized Defaults values to be OC-friendly To get into UEFI Shell before invoking OC ---> Hold F12 at startup (nothing new) Setting Default Boot Drive ---> OC honors Startup Disk Control Panel Windows (UEFI) ---> Two ways , pick one and stick with it From OC Boot Picker (that is what I do) From the mobo native boot picker (Holding F12 at startup and choosing Windows) HD4000 headless ---> In firmware setting .. iGPU enabled, Init Display first PEG (that's it --will not work with SMBIOS MacMini), make sure you have a working setup before enabling this feature. Parrallels Desktop, VMWare Fusion, Virtual Box --> In firmware setttings, Intel Virtualization Technology Enabled (i left it off by default because there might be people with Sandy Bridge or Pentium CPU) To remove the BootPicker at startup (you can still make it show by holding Option at boot) --> Set ShowPicker key to false in config.plist To disable the BootChime et startup --> Set AudioSupport key to false in config.plist Troubleshooting: To retrieve Debug log from Terminal nvram 4D1FDA02-38C7-4A6A-9CC6-4BCCA8B30102:boot-log | awk '{gsub(/%0d%0a%00/,"");gsub(/%0d%0a/,"\n")}1' Get the migration kit (0.5.8) Updated Kit for 0.5.9

  19. So i managed to install latest Catalina with opencore 0.59 and latest acidanthera's work on my HP 840-g4. But i have just one annoying problem: IMEI. The issue is exactly the same as described here: and in other thread at the commercial hack site with big eyes. Most of the applications not responding after wake from sleep. crashed quicklookup, quicktime player, youtube, hackintool, etc, etc. (spinning color wheel). So surfing deeply on the forums, i noticed that the problem is related of lack of IMEI injection. So i tried manual HECI to IMEI patch, knowing that WhateverGreen do that work. No results. The only way that i can get IMEI on ioReg is changing the address from 16 to 0, through a ACPI patch: dict> <key>Comment</key> <string>HECI ADDRESS</string> <key>Count</key> <integer>0</integer> <key>Enabled</key> <true/> <key>Find</key> <data>SEVDSQhfQURSDAAAFgA=</data> <key>Limit</key> <integer>0</integer> <key>Mask</key> <data></data> <key>OemTableId</key> <data></data> <key>Replace</key> <data>SEVDSQhfQURSDAAAAAA=</data> <key>ReplaceMask</key> <data></data> <key>Skip</key> <integer>0</integer> <key>TableLength</key> <integer>0</integer> <key>TableSignature</key> <data></data> </dict> So with this i can get IMEI on IoReg But i think that is a problem! Because the KBL FrameBuffer can't initialize the MEI Service, even with the IMEI at ioreg, this is from boot syslog: 2020-06-24 16:38:29.075004-0400 localhost kernel[0]: (AppleIntelKBLGraphicsFramebuffer) <AppleIntelKBLGraphicsFramebuffer`AppleIntelFramebufferController::createMEIDriver()> [IGFB][ERROR ] Failed to start MEI service! 2020-06-24 16:38:29.075014-0400 localhost kernel[0]: (AppleIntelKBLGraphicsFramebuffer) <AppleIntelKBLGraphicsFramebuffer`AppleIntelFramebufferController::createMEIDriver()> [IGFB][ERROR ] Failed to create MEI service Soooo, the question is: How can i solve this?!! I also tried: 1. SSDT-IGPU from Rehabman 2. SSDT-IMEI 3. Rename HECI to IMEI ACPI patch All these with no luck. PD: I have to say that not SDcard mount after wake from sleep and this are the only two thing left to solve in order to get full working hackintosh laptop.! OpenCore’s boot menu labels

Hello. I’m using OpenCore 0.5.9 with macOS 10.15.5. I do not have OpenCanopy set up, so all my entries are basic text. How does OpenCore generate the disk labels in the boot menu? I changed the name of my APFS start up disk using Disk Utility after a successful installation, but OpenCore still displays the old name in the boot menu. If I understand correctly, this information is not stored in the NVRAM, and clearing it should not have any effect. Thanks!
  22. Hi! I'm pretty new to OpenCore so please bear with me. I have an open core installation that goes till the Picker menu where I'm shown a few boot options. But there, I'm unable to choose the installation option. I've tried typing the corresponding number, using the arrow keys, or every possible key on my laptop's keyboard. Nothing seems to work and it goes into the first option after the timeout. I tried different VoodooPS2Controller kexts, This Solution https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Desktop-Guide/troubleshooting/troubleshooting.html#cant-select-anything-in-the-picker (both) provided in the guide. 24. I'm a software developer that's new to hackintoshing. Attempted both Catalina and Mojave. My current config gets stuck before the installer. The logo appears with progress bar near 1%. My previous attempts got me through to the installer where I used Disk Utility to Erase the disk and created one GUID partition with APFS format, and after several minutes the first reboot brings back the logo with progress bar near 1%. I never get to "x minutes remaining". Using DEBUG versions. opencore-log.zip ubuntu-logs.zip EFI.zip PS: SMBIOS/UUID redacted with sed in both log+config.
  25. Hi, I followed the OC guide, and installed Catalina 10.15.5 on my PC. The installation went very well. Most parts also work well after I login to the desktop except the following issue: Each time I tried to log back into the desktop from sleep, I would get a black screen very shortly after I entered the desktop. And black screen will last from a few seconds to a few minutes, no exact lasting time. Keyboards and mouse are still working during black screen, I can see the operations after the monitor works again. It connects LG monitor via DP port and I tried to modified the dp version between 1.2 and 1.4, got the same issue. Attached my entire OC folder, I'm so appreciated if someone could help me check it out, or tell me which part I should focus on. Thanks in advance! P.S.
