Played around with my EFI on Monday after updating BIOS to F10. Unlocked E2, no problems.

 

Decided to try replacing OsxAptioFix2Drv-free2000.efi with AptioMemoryFix.efi (from Acidanthera)

 

And guess what? It works. Reliably. From cold boot. From warm boot. After booting Windows. Before, with all other memory drivers it would not boot past Clover.

 

Some changes I'm running that are potentially different from glasgood's config:

1. Bios F10
2. E2 unlocked
3. BIOS → CSM Support → disabled
4. Chipset → Vt-d → enabled
5. Peripherals → USB Configuration → XHCI Hand-off → disabled
6. MIT → Advanced Memory Settings  → Extreme Memory Profile (X.M.P) → enabled
7. I have two PCI cards in addition to GPU- Sonnet 10gig Aquantia and a BCM943602CS via adapter. Sapphire Nitro+ RX 580
8. Changed some of the Device mappings in config.plist

Other things that have changed since I last tried other memory drivers

1. Clover r5018
2. all memory lots populated- 32 gig total
3. running two NVMe drives. Also have BD-Writer and SATA backup drive attached. Also works without backup drive connected.

I've attached my EFI if other brave souls want to play around with this.

Unlock the 0xE2 MSR register so I can avoid certain patches (to Power Management I believe).

At least on my Z390 AORUS Pro it was NOT unlocked. Verified by both the VerifyMsrE2.efi tool and looking through the Clover boot log.

Hi guys,

I hope your both good.

Quick question, If I wanted to turn off my igpu and run with just the vega56 would it just be a matter of disabling it in the bios and then changing my smbios over and redoing my iMessage icloud etc etc?

I'm not a fan at all of having both gpus running as Im a overclocker at heart and it just does not sit well with me and also final cut and premiere seem to love the vega much more..lol

I have a 5700 XT sitting in my test bench and I'm impressed with it.

Doesn't work in mojave unfortunately but that should change soon.

I agree with you. I have problem with OC with iGPU enabled, so here are what I've done: 

 

1- Back up clover and bios profile 

2- Remove the device properties for iGPU in Glasgood config. 

3- Turn off iGPU completely in your bios 

4- Change SMbios and redo iMessage config 

 

Enjoy the Vega power. If you're using rx580 or 590, iGpu will win, since Vega, it's much better to use Vega.

iMac pro 1.1 it is then..lol...thank you buddy.

I have a stable oc @5ghz as is (fixed voltage with zero AVX offset on it) and shes solid as a rock and passed every stress test I chucked at it but still I just don't like that igpu enabled and even more so when I consider my 9900k to be a bit of a lemon OC wise.

My 8700K struggle at 5Ghz without AVX offset... I have a really bad silicon.

If you crave for performance, get a radeon VII. It blows everything out of the water. The compute power is just too much haha. 

 

@AudioGod sit tight for Navi. Catalina will not support it at release because I only see Vega in the code. However, they may pull the plug to change vega20 and 1 unknown / fake ID into Navi at later point in time. At this moment, Radeon VII is the most powerful card you can throw into you system without breaking the bank. Its compute power is actually much higher than gaming power. I will return my VII and live with OC 56 until the 5800XT come out and get supported.

You should change just in case. Apple will think you get a new mac.  If 2 computers are using the same serial number, there's a small chance Apple will block sign in. 

I just follow Glasgood iMessage guide everytime I change my SMBios, then save all of my config.plist file to reuse later.

Question on the Wifi/Bluetooth card....More of a Mobo technical question.

 

I have these two items coming shortly...

The Bluetooth seems to need power and a connection to a USB poort and I am going to use HS11 with the on board connection ( I already integrated it into my USB map).  However, I have no freaking clue what cable I need!  I found this adapter card slightly cheaper on Amazon and it came with a cable.  I've been looking these past days for the same one.  Does anyone have a link or an idea which one I need.  I know its a 5 pin connector to the adapter card.  And then just a block connector on the other side?  Which connections are coming off of the 5 pin (Obviously Vcc, ground, data?).  The block connector has many more.

Hi!

 

I've done everything step by step, everything works (almost)

One problem I've got is: SLEEP, or... waking up.

 

When the computer goes sleep, everything looks OK, monitor is OFF machine is OFF.

When I hit s PWR it wakes up but monitor stays black. 

It has some black signal for a couple of secs - but after this monitor goes sleep

The only way to have my desktop back is hard reset.

My EFI attached.

 

Bios settings as in #1

GB Z370PRO / MSI Vega 64 / I9 9900 / 32G 3200 /

 

Is there any chance to have sleep working?

I just finished doing it all now and I can feel the difference instantly. To me Mojave in general feels better and all my bench scores minus the GPU have not been affected but best of all no more igpu...yay...hahaha

Yeah that is much much better. time to see what its done to my render times and GPUs performance in general.

Gaming Frame rates are all within margin or error to me.

Intrestly my geekbench cpu score has jumped up by a fair margin too and I've just double checked this with the old efi and it's no margin of error thing either.

Power of Vega vs Intel iGPU. Lolz.

You MUST remove shikigva=60 or you will lose VDA JPG acceleration and preview / quicklook will fail to open any jpeg file. The argument means for iGPU to function properly. 

I didn't notice the jump in CPU performance because I'm too focused in getting every bit of vega 56 haha. 

 

btw, 

@AudioGod Regarding the vega56 bios: Houston, we have a problem: It's rock solid in hack but unstable in windows. Sometimes it freezes in windows. I can live with it stable in hackintosh anyway. The vega Boost clock on my hack is around 1500 mhz and temperature is cool enough around 55*C. 

 

@glasgood Since vega is quite popular, I think you can expand your guide to cover this. With Vega GPU, it's better to disable iGPU and use iMac Pro SMBIOS.
