I just start this topic to express my idea to this forum about doing a chellenge, this challenge is about installing the new mac os version of mac os that will be presented at the wwdc.

The challenge is very simple, is to try to install the new mac os beta version, which will be presented at the wwdc, in an hackintosh, as fast as we can. Last year, my friends and I succeeded in 20 hours from the release of the new beta, but this year with more computers and a much faster internet connection, I plan to do it in less time, and also since I'm a subscriber to the apple developer program, I can download the new software immediately.

I do not want some sort of race o competition, but just something to do a collaborative effort and being the first commiunity to succeed in that.

Among other things, I will go to see live the presentation of the wwdc from the Italian ios developer academy and some of my friends have managed to go in person to the wwdc.

what do you think about this idea?

will you join the challenge and try to be the first to install the new macOS 10.14 beta on an hackintosh?

I think it's fun on a small scale, but won't make sense on a big scale. I mean, a big part of this community will be downloading and installing the beta at basically the same time. One would then need to post to this forum. Especially with the issues this forum has regarding speed, it's hard to say who really was the first.

Because my only available hackintosh has an NVIDIA GPU, I don't feel like I will have a lot to contribute. But I would love to follow the progress people are making.

Will there be a chat room where we/I can follow the progress and post results?

i mean just doing something to run it first, for the issues just use the forum, the challenge will just about getting the new mac os version to work on an hackintosh as fast as possible, and after a couple of days, just close the thing and create more detailed threads about how to do it, and issues we have discovered

I guess I will enjoy watching others who like being "first" competing for that "prize".  Personally, I appreciate the collaborative effort that this community provides.  I have seldom seen any macOS build installed perfectly by any one person without the help of any other person.  It is always a collaborative effort.  The willingness of people to help one another without any expectation of a prize or other compensation is one of the greatest aspects of this forum.

That said, anyone who wants to race through the installation process of the next OS version, knock yourselves out (and good luck.)

My idea is not about brakeing the forum, but about doing a challenge just for fun and also to start to experience the new mac os version very quickly and start to prepare the needed material for more in depth stuff and guides for othe people , i mean, i want just a thing to work together for some time, not to be alone, just to try to make it as fast as possible

As far as I know my hardware are ready for 10.14 and I don't have to install additional drivers, my skills to basic install OS X on a Hackintosh are also good.. The only problem is that I don't have the developers account to get my hands on 10.14 as soon as possible to compete with you guys

Wish you all a good luck :)

The challenge is very simple, the one who installs the new macOS beta, on a hackintosh, first, wins, so you have to be able to put this new beta version of macOS on a hackintosh, as fast as possible. No worries.  It's all good.  It's just not my thing.  All I do at work is compete against my opponents.  It's nice to be able to collaborate when I'm not at work.

If a non-programmer will be able to install new OS then it will be a challenge whose internet is faster.

There will be a question who first find a workaround to install new OS if it will not work on hackintosh for some new reason.

That's the challenging part, letting the commiunity to work together to find ways of making it possible.

But the first workaround i will try, because with new big mac os releases clover kext injection does not work, is to install it on my macbook first, then install fakesmc into the /System/Library/Extensions folder, reboot in single user mode to fix permitions and rebuild the kernel cache, using the kernelcache from the macbook to boot into the usb installer on the hackintosh, and then install it, after the install is complete, using the same kernel cache to boot into the installed system, and then install, just temporarely the kexts into the /Library/Extensions folder just in the wait for a version of clover with working kext injection for the new mac os version.

If this does not works, we will find out a solution in the forum, and i will also share the kernelcache in the forum as well.

If you have a real mac then the process can be faster.

1. Attach USB external HDD to the macbook.

2. Install new OS until first restart.

3. Reboot to original system and place FakeSMC and Ethernet (!) driver into SLE.

4. Move the drive to hackintosh

5. Continue installation with moving your data from "other Mac", i.e. from previous installation.

There is a possible problem if someone accustomed to use Lilu to make graphics. They expected to get black screen.

I have no real Mac so I am out of the competition.

Do not warry, as a developer on apple platoforms, i own 3 macs, 6 hackintoshes, 6 iphones and 2 ipads (yes for proper debug you need a lot of devices, and also i use them for other things rather than being just debugging) but ironically no free external drives, so i will proceed in that way i told. But i can just give to you the kernelcache with fakesmc alredy inside, made from my mac, which will work on your systems too, and because i know all the possible black screen and such problems, i will just use a machine with native supported gfx and an smbios which will not give me a black screen. people with black screen problems should use a different smbios, or change the gfx card they use, or wait that clover team releases a version of clover with working kext injection on the new mac os release and the to use lilu and his plugin kexts with all the beta boot args.

I think few hours will be enough for Sherlocks to explore new kernel and propose patches for Clover.

Radeon cards will work just with RadeonDeinit=YES, it is system independent.

yes, but usually the new release is pubblished in one or two days, and think also to all the people using nvidia gpus, like native nvidia gpus, which will need the fixes i said to now have black screens. But since i do not own any recent radeon card (the most recent i own is a radeon hd 4670 agp) i will use a gtx 650 or in case of problems the intel hd 4600 of the haswell sistem i am going to use.

Radeon doesnt need that anymore ever since 10.13.4 cards have worked oob now

I'm going to give it a try, even if i'm not programmer and it will be for sure a challenge like @Slice said, just like swimming for the first time :hysterical:!

I think that FirmwareFeatures and Mask will be another challenge, until someone post them, or we have to find them on the firmwares that apple will implement into that beta.

But we maybe still need clover update

i'll try the simplest way HD4600, Ozmosis i think will not have that chance, but i will a little try, and i think i'm going to tickle Dear MY MAN cecekpawon for that :superman:

i do not think that being a programmer is need, for me is more abot your knowlage of mac os rather than your coding skills

I already had a chance to do it, i was honored by cecekpawon to test Ozmosis on High Sierra, and I was one of the first users that installed HS with only Ozmosis. It's a lot of reboots, trying SMBios changes, FakeSMC's and a couple of things, until we found that the FirmwareFeatures and FirmwareFeaturesMask had to be taken from real Mac DMI and convert them to Decimal, I'm with you my friend, I'll try that, the only problem left is, downloading this beta, as I have account but not enrolled on the Apple Developer!

luckly i have a developer account (i know, that hurts in the wallet, but i need the priviladges and the support provvided by the developer account) and i have also some real macs as i said, and we have this entire forum and all of us knows some one who can help, for example i have a lot of hackintosher friends. But with this old kernelcache trick i used since mac os x mavericks, i did manage to boot high sierra last year even without the proper smbios configuraztio for the firmware features-related stuff
