Core24All
Taruga, i´m happy to finally having my Sigmatel STAC9271D working on my DP35DP motherboard. I see that many use this great board too. It just does not say Mic, and don´t have a gain control (slider) for Mic. Is there still some more work needed to be done on this soundcard or is it already 100% support? Or is it just small fixes with the Mic and gain, slider thing left for it? Thanx for you hard work! agent-squirrel
I was just wondering if there is any joy with ALC268 yet? With my intel chipset, Leopard shows a soundcard, HDA audio Output yet no sound. Was wondering if 2.0 would fix this? Fischerms80
I have a Toshiba A135-S4487 ( had OS X 10.4.8 but killed it off a while ago after the sound card issue was never fixed). Any after restoring the Laptop back to the factory settings with VISTA on the 1st Hard drive (100mb). I loaded XxX OS X 10.4.11. Sound is only functional thru the speakers - I need the headphones. I tried the Lenovo ALC862 kext with no luck. Restore it to the Azillia kext. Also loaded a 3945 wireless driver but it is currently useless since no WEP/WPA security is supported. I used a Belkin F5D5000 rev 4 with zydas (something like that). Any chance when a ALC862 driver will be availble for the Toshiba Satellite A135 series Toshiba A135-S4487 2gb Ram 100gb HD - Vista Home Premium 120gb HD - XxX (TOH) OS X 10.4.11 Intel GMA 950 Video Realtek Gigabit ethernet Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/32859-applehda-solution-work-in-progress/page/124/#findComment-541872 Share on other sites
Taruga
ALC861 users - I´ve put 2 kext´s online yesterday, I got no feedback if it´s working or not. LoboBjörn
Sorry Taruga. Tested it first thing thing morning. The first kexts didn't work. No sound or volume controls. The second one is great! I finally have sound on my Asus F3JC. You made my day, man! A friend of mine, with F3JC also, reported sound working. But no sound coming out of the headphones... (same here) but, who cares! We got SOUND!!!!!!! PS. Do you think it'll work with ALC861 on Toshiba A100? I got it to work with Azalia. I think it is recognised as an ALC880 or something on linux, but on Toshiba's site it is said to be an ALC861. We are going over to Paypal. You deserve it! Thanks! ALC861 users - I´ve put 2 kext´s online yesterday, I got no feedback if it´s working or not.JJDuro reported ALC861_v2 working with his Asus notebook F3JC and what about the rest of you who downloaded it ?! Taruga: Thanks for your report, I can only improve things if I get reports (good or bad). I don´t have a way of testing as I only have alc882, so you all are my testers. And much has been done until now this way. JJDuro also reported the same problem with headphones, I will try to fix it later as I have a lot more to do before it. Do you have mic working ? As for the Toshiba, if you can try the HDAudio.kext I have on other thread (there are instructions there) it will report the correct vendor and model I need. MacintizeD
Hey Taruga, your new ALC861 kext works great. (perfectly actually) However, there're couple minor issues. 1. When I boot up, I hear loud popping noises from my speaker at the end of the white boot screen (and some afterwards when the desktop loads up) Is there anyway to fix that? Other than that, it is absolutely perfect. Mic works too! 2. In the sound preference list, both internal speakers and headphones are controlled by the Line Out sound input. The Internal Speaker input is useless, but it's visible on the list. P.S. I know it's not my computer's problem, I had azalia.kext installed before and I had no problem with this. My laptop is Toshiba Satellite A100 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/32859-applehda-solution-work-in-progress/page/124/#findComment-542611 Share on other sites
ch0rx
Hmm, seems I am having an issue. I used the ALC888 installer and everything worked perfectly... it restarted and all my sound worked. I restarted again later that day to get iChat working again and my sound stopped working. I tried reinstalling with the same package, and it doesn't work now. Hi Taruga, I test ALC861.zip today, it works great on my Asus W5F! My internal speaker, internal microphone, and headphone output all works now, thank you! My test report is here. Taruga: Thanks for your complete report and your donation also. You can´t imagine the time I spent and the work I had to get this codec working. I also would like to thank JJDuro who also donated for this one. He was my tester for alc861 for months (4 months or more) and he had faith in me and never lost his hope. It was very hard to get this one working, but I´ve learned a lot that will help others also. jjduro
Here's a How to for ALC861, and other kexts A newbie is also a life form 1- Grab ALC861 from the forum 2- Open your Extensions folder: /System/Library/Extensions/ 3- On that folder, erase AppleAzalia.kext and AppleHDA.kext (if you have ALCinject.kext, erase it too) 4- Drag and drop the newly downloaded AppleHDA.kext and ALCinject.kext into the Extensions folder. 5- Close the Extensions folder and erase the file named Extensions.mkext, or whatever. You'll find it near the Extensions folder. 6- Open the Terminal - You'll find it on the Go menu on the top bar 7- Type: sudo -s [Enter] 8- Type your password [Enter] 9- Type: cd /System/Library/Extensions/ [Enter] 10- Type: chown -R root:wheel ALCinject.kext [Enter] 11- Type: chmod -R 755 ALCinject.kext [Enter] 12- Type: chown -R root:wheel AppleHDA.kext [Enter] 13- Type: chmod -R 755 AppleHDA.kext [Enter] 14- Type: rm -f /System/Library/Extensions.mkext [Enter] 15- Type: rm -Rf /System/Library/Extensions/Caches [Enter] 16- Type: diskutil repairPermissions / [Enter] 17- Reboot 18- Probably you won't need steps 14 to 16, but do them anyway 19- When your computer reboots, you'll hear some cracking noises. It's OK, it means you now have sound. 20- Enjoy 21- Go to Paypal and give Taruga an enormous Christmas gift. He deserves it. 22- You don't need to do step 21... but it would be a nice and honest gesture 23- Merry Christmas! Hello...I'm a newbie !!! Someone could tell me how i can install Realtek ALC861 kext (ALC861.zip) ? thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/32859-applehda-solution-work-in-progress/page/124/#findComment-543085 Share on other sites
alicheusz
I tested ALC861.zip today, but it don't works for me. That's strange because beta works almost perfectly (no multichanel) Taruga: There is some confusion about it, ALC861.zip it´s for 0x10ec0861 And the beta is for one codec that says it´s ALC861, but in fact it´s identified as 0x10ec0880 (which is the same as ALC880). daviddl
AppleHDA only works for Intel High Definition Audio devices. That means only onboard stuff. bari86
I am using dell inspiron 1520 and need that sigmatel 9205 codec dump. I have try and use Knooppix and try to run this command on the terminal but unsuccessful. cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#0 > codec.txt I also manually check the folder but the codec seems to have 0kb files. jjduro
i suppose you are talking about the 10.4.8. applehda-kext? i would like to get it working with an alc880... would you please post your work? The solution for that sound codec was posted about a year ago on Post#1. Hard to to spot... Probably.... I am using dell inspiron 1520 and need that sigmatel 9205 codec dump. I have try and use Knoppix and try to run this command on the terminal but unsuccessful.cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#0 > codec.txtI also manually check the folder but the codec seems to have 0kb files. So i am wondering if anyone can give me the codec dump. TQthat's because you aren't giving the system a place to write the codec dump. try this on terminal if you are using a linux Live CD:cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#0 > /tmp/codec.txt(you'll find the codec dump inside tmp folder)If you have it installed try this instead: cat /proc/asound/Intel/codec#0 > /usr/Desktop/dump.txt(you'll find the codec dump on the Desktop... I think. I don't have acess to a linux installation right now, so, the path could be something else, but I'm quite sure it's this one)If you don't want to go that way, you can find all the codec dumps in the world following Psycopat's link that's posted on AppleHDA Solution Post #1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/32859-applehda-solution-work-in-progress/page/124/#findComment-544171 Share on other sites
