  1. Toshiba Laptop Success Stories?

Toshiba Satellite A135-S4487 Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 (1.67ghz) 2GB Ram Intel 3945 Wireless Card (works with iwdarwin 3945 driver only on open wi-fi - no wep/wpa/wpa2) Realtek 8100 series gigabit etherner (TOH 10.4.11 driver support) Intel GMA950 Belkin F5D7050 rev 4 usb wireless zd1211 driver. SATA 100GB - Vista Home Premium SATA 120GB - TOH MAC OS X X86 10.4.11 - loaded EFI 8.0 ( system boots but have not noticed any differences) Realtek HDA Audio ALC862-VD - using azillia - speakers only. Tried the HDA patcher 1.20 with a dump file from linux but still only speakers. No headphones or IN/MIC ports. USB 2.0 - Works Firewire - Works (tried to migrate from a G4 dual cpu but the migrate only picked up the 40gb ide drive - never saw the 120gb - for another day) Fingerprinter reader - No way Builtin SD/XD/MS card reader - No way - use an external card reader Parallels appears to be able to boot the vista partion but not likely to try that until I shut off aero and some of the bloat ware sections of vista or replace the memory modules with 2GB sticks for 4GB. Would like to replace the T5500 cpu with either a T7400 or a T7600 CPU when this Laptop's warranty expires. Right now the T7400 and T7600 are quite expensive (400 to 625.00 USD) Vista - Slow in all points OS X - Flies.
  2. iATKOS v1.0i Released

I tried the iATKOS 10.5 rc2 and iATKOS V1.0 DVD (10.5.1) on a Toshiba Satellite A135-S4487. Since this system has 2 hard drives - left billy's vista on the 100GB sata drive and partitioned the 2 drive a 120gb sata with iatkos dvd disk utility, ran the darwin boot utility, and installed the os. Tried a couple combinations of install options and left with the same result - blink cursoron reboot. I rate any of these releases a bust at this time. I reinstalled the upchuck 10.4.11 with the a ZD1211 driver added after install. The system is running with the built in eithernet, external wireless. Can not built in intel 3984 since the exsisting driver only allows open networks no wep/wpa. Built in sound kind of works (ALC862-VD) using azilla drivers. Tried the HDA patcher and all it willgive sound thru speakers, no headphones or line in/mic jack. I think the 10.5 move may have wait like what happen with Tiger's move to x86. Things really did not smooth out till 10.4 or so.
  3. AppleHDA Solution - Work in progress

I have a Toshiba A135-S4487 ( had OS X 10.4.8 but killed it off a while ago after the sound card issue was never fixed). Any after restoring the Laptop back to the factory settings with VISTA on the 1st Hard drive (100mb). I loaded XxX OS X 10.4.11. Sound is only functional thru the speakers - I need the headphones. I tried the Lenovo ALC862 kext with no luck. Restore it to the Azillia kext. Also loaded a 3945 wireless driver but it is currently useless since no WEP/WPA security is supported. I used a Belkin F5D5000 rev 4 with zydas (something like that). Any chance when a ALC862 driver will be availble for the Toshiba Satellite A135 series Toshiba A135-S4487 2gb Ram 100gb HD - Vista Home Premium 120gb HD - XxX (TOH) OS X 10.4.11 Intel GMA 950 Video Realtek Gigabit ethernet
  4. AppleHDA Solution - Work in progress

I have installed this 1.15 patch which half works - Audio only thru speakers even with a pair of Headphones plugged in. 10.4.9 JAS on a Toshiba Satellite A135-S4487 T5500 Core 2 Duo 1.g7ghz 2gb ram 100gb Drive for Micro$oft Vista 120gb Drive for OS X There is only a MIC/Line In jack as well as a an Audio Out jack. Some where I read that Toshiba implementation of realtek audio is slightly different then the standard set up. As for ID the exact realtek chip used is 862?
  5. Thanks - Got a mac now

I had looked at the 1300.00 MACBOOK vs. the Toshiba Satellite A135-S4487. Money talked. Toshiba was 1150 at Bestbuy (at time of purchase) with a T5500 Core Duo 2 (MAC is slightly faster with 4mb L2 which is good for around 10% performance differential between 2mb & 4mb L2 Cache), 220gb drive space (100 + 120) and 2gb ram. 10/100/1000 ethernet, 4 USB 2 ports, 1 firewire 400, DVD-RW, 15.4" LCD, Same Video as the MACbook - GMA950. Intel 802a/b/g wireless. I have Vista on the 100gb primary Drive and OS X 10.4.9 on the 120gb. Sound only works thru the speakers - no head phones and the wireless is not functional under OS X ( no loss as use the wired networking anyway). Primary internet box is an old Powermac G4 Gigabit Dual G4 500mhz cpu's. Apple does have some nice hardware but the price premium over what is out there on the low end is not worth it.
  6. iTunes 7.1 and QuickTime 7.1.5

Seems to work fine on my Toshiba Satellite A135-S4487, sound will not route to the headphone jack when headphones are plugged - sound is going thru the speakers.
  7. Toshiba A135-S4487 How to Dual boot Vista Home

Ethernet NIC is up Running. Audio is running thru speakers with headphones plugged, strange but sound is better then no sound Intel 3945abg - no go but not really needed. If need to have wireless then boot billyware disk (Vista) instead. The boot up speed of OS X is night and day difference compared to Windows Vista. I guess the old rule of years ago really applies with vista - Intel giveth and Microsoft taketh. Inte;/AMD gives faster CPUS and Microsoft finds a way to make them just as slow as previous systems.
  8. Toshiba A135-S4487 How to Dual boot Vista Home

In my I did not have to go thru the DISKPART routines. Changed the boot order in the bios as follows: DVD HDD2 Toshiba 120gb - OS X target HDD1 Hitachic 100gb - Windows Vista Home. Booted with JAS 10.4.7 DVD, Partitioned/Formated 120gb drive, Installed with SSE3, GMA900, options. System boot with no wireless network(this was expected), No sound - Realtek HDA, No Ethernet Realtek RTL8168 series. Booted with JAS 10.4.8 w/8.8.1 kernel. Upgraded system with GMA 950 System boots still with the 3 item not working. GMA950 is working in Native 1280x800 on Laptop LCD and 1280x1024 on 17" external LCD display. Will try with assorted suggestions to get the sound & ethernet up. Not concern about wireless. Will copy chain0 to hitachi drive & add to Vista boot menu. Could just select it in the bios boot menu and have risk of scewing up the vista side.
  9. Canon Rebel XTi

Since I have some older Nikon Lenses, I have a Nikon D50 Digital SLR - works great. Looked at the Canon Rebel XTI but did not like they way it felt and the way manual modes were handled. This my opinion. Check out www.imaging-resource.com or wwww.dpreview.com for decent review Note: The Nikon D50 has been replaced by the D40 (which is too small for my wishes) but can still be found for sale.
  10. I just bought a Toshiba Satellite A135-S4487 Specs: Intel® Centrino® Duo mobile technology Intel® Core™2 Duo mobile processor T5500, Intel® 945GM Express chipset GMA 950 Video (can steal upto 224mb for it's needs) Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945ABG network connection (802.11a/b/g) 2GB PC4200 DDR2 100GB Primary SATA Drive (Vista Home Premium - not by choice...) 120mb Seconday SATA Drive (empty - would like to put OS X 10.4.8 JAS). The old system I had dual booted XP/JAS OS X 10.4.8 w/ Acronis Boot selector which was a Dell Inspiron 2200 Pention M 1.6ghz 1.2gb ram(single core and maxed ram). Currently it seems Acronis Disk Director suite is not compatible with Billy's latest Creation. So what is the best method to dual boot this beast? Chian0 seems to be a little risky. I would be willing to wait for Acronis to update their disk director suite to support Vista. I can live with out the Intel Wireless(10/100/1000 wire is faster for deal with my NAS).
  11. The Driver was a default install on 10.4.7 JAS AMD/Intel SSE2/SSE3 DVD as well from 10.4.8 Intel SSE2 update. I would guess the pronlem lies on the JAS 10.4.8 AMD/Intel SSE2/SSE3 DVD Apple8255*/Intel drivers. Later on will try to pukk the Apple8266 kexts from the Backup drive and see what happens.
  12. Dell Inspiron 2200 P4M 1.6ghz w/2mb L2 Cache 1.2gb RAM 80gb Toshiba HD - 2 Partitions - 40gb Windows Xp home SP2/MAC OS X 10.4.8 JAS. Acronis OS selector for boot menu 1. System was built with JAS 10.4.7 then imported data files/apps/settings from the old 40gb drive in a USB 2.0 housing. 2. Installed JAS 10.4.8 intell sse2 update, did the Itunes 7 PPC dance. Everything was woking up to this point. 3. Decided to update the system with the JAS final 10.4.8 with the 8.8.1 kernel. after the reboot found that I had no wireless or 10/100 networking. Could not enable it. 4. For a work around reload the wireless networking package off of the 10.4.7 dvd, reboot and chmod/chown the IO80211 wireless extension. kextload to enable it. Rebooted it and wireless is working for now. 5. What is the intel 10/100 extension/kext that need to be reloaded? I would much rather use the wired network as it is faster then the wireless.
  13. 10.4.6 JaS on VMWARE

Previous poster CPU is close to My CPU (Intel Pentium M Process 1.60GZ) The fix will have to come from the VMWARE Gods/Gurus. It had hang ups with PAE which this series of Pentiums do not support but does seem to cause any issues with native boot of OS X. Riaz Posted Oct 20 2006, 04:31 PM tried all those from previous mentioned but still getting Bug 9297. Is my Centrino is not compatible? 14. 10.4.6 JaS on VMWARE

Latest update on the OS X on the Dell Inspiron 2200. Can not use the big 10.4.8 update that is floating around on the hackintosh links with MAXXUS 10.4.6 it will kill it every time. I used the following to up date to 10.4.8 1. JaS.10.4.7.Update.(Intel) 2. JaS 10.4.8 SSE2 Intel Life is good right now. It would be nice if Paralles would work with physical disk partitions like vmware. Vmware will not boot the this install of mac os x 10.4.8. Still hung up on the PAE issue. Oh well I guess you can't have everything.
