I'm having a problem getting full graphics acceleration on El Capitan 10.11.5.

My hardware is the same as my sig.

Intel DP45SG mobo

Intel Xeon X5640 Quad Core (This is a modded 771 to 775 processor).

8GB DDR3-1333MHZ  Ram

(EVGA) Geforce GT260 (896 MB)

I was only ever able to get 10.7.5 running on this machine. Mountain Lion never booted and I gave up trying to upgrade but now I see more people on here have also done the 771 to 775 mod and successfully booted to El Capitan and Sierra so I decided to give it a try. I can boot into EC with nv_disable=1. Without that flag I get a black and white zebra pattern when it finally boots. It looks exactly like the problems I was having with this board when using the same Xeon processor:

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/296158-upgrade-core2-duo-to-xeon-x5460-quadno-graphics/.

And (it's been a while) but I believe that I also had to rollback the IOPCIFAMILY and AppleACPIPlatform kext from SL to get the graphics working. The only difference is that my previous Gigabyte mobo GA-P31-3GS upgraded to Mountain Lion without a hitch-no rollbacks.

I see people like Husaber have a series 45 mobo and have done the 771 to 775 mod, but have an ATI card and have upgraded successfully so I'm wondering it's an Nvidia issue and an ATI card upgrade might solve the whole issue.

Thanks in advance.

I hope I did this right but here is my Clover origin file and hopefully my IO reg.

OK, I replaced my Clover file with yours in my 10.11.5 EFI partition and then booted it with only -v. Although a different set of script lines from what I have been seeing the result was the same. I took some photos (sorry iphone) as it scrolled through the boot and then what the screen looks like after the boot. I forgot to mention that a few days ago I actually got to a different screen mostly light gray with a black bar through the middle and the mouse pointer showed up (finally) and it appeared to be in hi-res i.e. the maximum screen res. for this monitor..

Sorry, but I'm new to Clover. Which Clover option do I use to mount HDD EFI partition and then replace the Clover folder when booting from the USB stick?

**I forgot to mention in my first post, but for 10.7.5, both this mobo and my Gigabyte GA-P31-3GS the graphics would be fine (acceleration, etc.) if I used my E8500 Core 2 Duo 3.16 (SLB9K (E0)). It was only when I used the Xeon Quad core that I had to roll back the kexts. I don't know if this is helps finding the errors or not but I thought I should include it.

Thanks again for all your help.

Still no love.

Is it the NVDAResman kext that's causing the issue? I notice that if NV_disable=1 is used in -v mode it will say something like NVDAResman kext disabled because nv_disable=1. Screen shot of extensions shows it not loaded but listed. On my 10.7.5 install it is loaded.

It's true!

I'm have a lot of hackintosh, but I always remember and use the old ones. GA-945GCM-S2C, core2duo 4500 and gt220 :D

Remember the old times :P

G41M-P26 is a ICH7?

U have other GPU for test?

Nothing newer than the 260 GTX. I have a 9800GT from my other system. It also had issues when I used the Xeon X5640. Do you think it's an issue with the card? Somebody on the site that I cannot name is running Mavericks on the DP45SG mobo with an ATI card. What would be a nice upgrade from the GTX260 from ATI that would boot OOB?

OMG! Was that Rampage Dev who just brought light into our dark corner of the internet? Funnily enough I thought about posting my problems on his site ... but then I thought .... "nahhhhh, he doesn't care about these old systems!"

Hi, first of all I would like to thank you for your guide. And I’m asking for your help

Btw Im not total stranger to hackintoshing (ok I must admit dsdt is dark area for me :D… snow leo was my first success) but time flies techniques change and now I’m here…. having problems with Sierra :D

- App Store download (version 10.12.4) created with terminal command and clover boot loader :D

Second Im posting my zip with all required files for DSDT edits, because vanilla hack is happy hack :)

Third, installation was very slow(used my clover folder), has taken whole night to install, but installed (must be because USB ports are reporting as 1.0 (12mb per second max speed reported in system information).

Forth I'm not able to boot with your post installation clover folder (added in zip) (system takes too long to boot (on ssd) and when login screen would normaly kick in black screen is showed)

Im able to boot with my clover folder (added in zip) (Used on my older hack builds and tweaked per random internet guides) but problems are:

-Usb is bugy (unmount drive when copying, keyboard and mouse stops working) and slow USB 1.0 (usb flash drives reported as 12mbps in system information),

-Audio not working  didn’t try kexts (on older Mac versions I've used HDA enabler kext and packed AppleHDA.kext installed in S/L/E I think dsdt patch would be better :) )

- restart works (I think shutdown too)

- goes to sleep OK, but wakes up to black screen (loud fans) with flashing line. No response needs restart.

- GPU (detected as AMD Radeon HD 7xxx 2048 MB not sure about HW acc)

-CPU ok

- RAM ok

- disks I think ok

- ethernet ok

- apple wifi ok

Will configure serial and UUID and system ID at end (for iMessage etc… not needed for now)

BTW also just for sake of it, I’m adding my old dsdt file I’ve created-patched long time ago it worked with older OSX versions… if it can help you in some way if you are willing to create new one, or at least help me.

I did used that old DSDT on Sierra install first try result: waiting for root device (many usb errors and warnings). So I’ve used my clover folder without dsdt, and it installed with symptoms described above.

System info:

MB: Asus p5w dh deluxe (bios 3002)

DISK: OSX is on ssd 250 gb, some other disks connected (I think they work :D )

CPU: Intel core 2 duo e8400 stock speed

RAM: 6 GB 800mhz ram (2+2GB+1+1GB sticks)

GPU: AMD R9 270X (should work OBB. on my clover folder works (not sure about HW acc) detected as - AMD Radeon HD 7xxx 2048 MB, on your clover folder boots to blank black screen, signal is on monitor)

WIFI BT combo: Apple original card (works OBB) with right smbios (Broadcom BCM94331CD WiFi Bluetooth Card)

Second WIFI on mb (Realtek something can be disabled not supported not needed)

LAN: Marvell 88E8053 Gigabit LAN (works OBB)

Sound chip: ALC882M (don’t work)

Thank you in advance

This project is dedicated to the memory of Mausi, the cat I loved more than anybody else.

A few days before Christmas I started my latest project, a new driver for recent Intel onboard LAN controllers. My intention was not to replace hnak's AppleIntelE1000e.kext completely but to deliver best performance and stability on recent hardware. That's why I dropped support for a number of older NICs. Currently the driver supports:

      5 Series
      82578LM 82578LC 82578DM 82578DC 6 and 7 Series
      82579LM 82579V 8 and 9 Series
      I217LM I217V I218LM I218V I218LM2 I218V2 I218LM3 100 Series (since V2.1.0d0)
      I219LM I219V 200 Series (since V2.3.0d0)
      I219LM I219V 300 Series (since V2.4.0d0)
      I219LM I219V 400 Series (since V2.5.1d1)
      I219LM I219V
      Key Features of the Driver
Support for multisegment packets relieving the network stack of unnecessary copy operations when assembling packets for transmission. No-copy receive and transmit. Only small packets are copied on reception because creating a copy is more efficient than allocating a new buffer. TCP, UDP and IPv4 checksum offload (receive and transmit). Support for TCP/IPv6 and UDP/IPv6 checksum offload. Makes use of the chip's TCP Segmentation Offload (TSO) feature with IPv4 and IPv6 in order to reduce CPU load while sending large amounts of data (disabled due to hardware bugs). Fully optimized for Sierra (64bit architecture) but should work with older 64bit versions of macOS too, provided you build from source with the appropriate SDK for the target OS. Support for Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE). VLAN support is implemented but untested as I have no need for it. The driver is published under GPLv2.
      Current Status
The driver has been tested successfully with I217V, I218V, I219V and 82579V under 10.9.5 and above. The attached archive includes source code as well as a prebuilt binary (debug version) for Mavericks and newer versions of macOS.   Known Issues
There seem to be problems while using VMware with version 1.x.x of the driver. In case you are affected use version 2.0.0 or newer.
      FAQ
Could you add support of for...? Well, you are probably asking me to add support for one of the older NICs like the 82571/2/3/4L or 82583 and the answer will be no as I dropped support for these chips intentionally. They are broken and I lost more than 2 weeks trying to make it work on the 82574L without success. I was asked to add support for I210, I211 and I350 but as these chips have a completely different architecture, which isn't supported by the underlying Linux driver, this is impossible, sorry. Does it work with Snow Leopard or 32 bit kernels? No and I have no plans to make a version for 32 bit kernels or anything older than Lion. WoL from S5 doesn't work with this driver but under Windows it's working. Is this a driver bug? No it isn't, the driver is working as it should because OS X doesn't support WoL from S5.
      Installation
Goto /S/L/E and delete AppleIntelE1000e.kext. Recreate the kernel cache. Open System Preferences and delete the corresponding network interface, e. g. en0. Reboot. Install the new driver and recreate the kernel cache. I recommend to use Kext Wizard or a similar utility for the installation. Reboot Open System Preferences again, select Network and check if the new network interface has been created automatically or create it manually now. Configure the interface.
Help - I'm getting kernel panics!
Well, before you start complaining about bugs after you upgraded macOS and ask me to publish a driver update, you should first try to resolve the issue on your own by cleaning the system caches.
As the driver uses macOS's private network driver interface, which is supposed to be used by Apple provided drivers only, you might run into problems after an OS update because the linker may fail to recognize that IONetworking.kext has been updated and that the driver needs to be linked against the new version (Apple provided drivers avoid this problem because they are always updated together with IONetworking.kext). As a result, the linking process produces garbage and the driver may call arbitrary code when trying to call functions from IONetworking.kext. This usually results in unpredicted behavior or a kernel panic. In order to recover from such a situation, you should clean the System Caches forcing the linker to recreate it's caches:
Delete all the files in /System/Library/Caches and it's subdirectories but leave the directories and the symbolic links intact. This is very important! Reboot. Recreate the kernel cache. Reboot again.
      Troubleshooting
Make sure you have followed the installation instructions especially when you have issues with certain domains while the others are working fine. Use the debug version to collect log data when trying to track down problems. The kernel log messages can be retrieved with "grep kernel /var/log/system.log" in Terminal. Starting from Sierra use "log show --predicate "processID == 0" --debug" in order to retrieve kernel logs. Include the log data when asking for support or giving feedback. I'm an engineer, not a clairvoyant. Don't copy and paste large amounts of log data to your post. Create an archive with the log data and attach it to your post. In case you don't want to make your log data publicly accessible, contact me via PM and I will provide you a mail address to send it directly to me.  Check your BIOS settings. You might want to disable Network Boot and the UEFI Network Stack as these can interfere with the driver. Double check that you have removed any AppleIntelE1000e.kext from your system because it could prevent the driver from working properly. Delete the following files: /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/preferences.plist Verify your bootloader configuration, in particular the kernel flags. Avoid using npci=0x2000 or npci=0x3000.  In Terminal run netstat -s in order to display network statistics. Carefully examine the data for any unusual activity like a high number of packets with bad IP header checksums, etc. In case auto-configuration of the link layer connection doesn't work it might be necessary to select the medium manually in System Preferences under Network for the interface. Use Wireshark to create a packet dump in order to collect diagnostic information. Keep in mind that there are many manufacturers of network equipment. Although Ethernet is an IEEE standard, different implementations may show different behavior causing incompatibilities. In case you are having trouble try a different switch or a different cable.
