  6. BEFORE TRYING THIS, DO THE OBVIOUS SOLUTION! REPLACE YOUR OPTIOFIX EFI FILE WITH VERSION 2, OR WITH VERSION 1. ONLY PROCEED IF DOING THIS DOES NOT WORK. Alright, so my first attempt at helping people that isn’t in a private discord. Hope this goes well. No one has posted this as a direct solution to someone asking for help with this error, so I thought I’d be the one to share it.

I encountered this problem when I rebooted after making some minor changes and discovered I couldn’t boot back into the disk. All over the web, people keep suggesting clover-side tweaks and replacing kexts, and while they may solve the problem for some, absolutely nothing was working for me (and a few others), even when booting with no kernel cache at all. No boot flags worked, no .efi files would solve it.

Holding spacebar in clover, no change. So, the solution ended up being system side, and not clover related. You needed to delete your prelinked kernel from the HDD and rebuild it.

To do this, you just have to be able to get to your recovery drive or use an install USB that’ll give you access to the disk. Clover got me into my recovery drive just fine, another hint that it wasn’t related to clover - but regardless, whatever works for you. After you’re in a terminal, type the following commands.

Df -h This will list all of your volumes, make sure you’re targeting your installation drive.

If your volume has a space in the name, such as "Mac OS HS", you'll need to format it as such: "Mac\ OS\ HS" - This is simply how the command line associates spaces. touch /Volumes/[NAME HERE]/System/Library/Extensions && kextcache -u /Volumes/[NAME HERE]

In my case, I replaced [NAME HERE] with my installation drive - "macOS\ 10.13". Chances are, this command will give you the error "Child process [directory] has exited due to signal 10" The line immediately after that will give you another bit of extremely important information that you need to take note of. "Error 107 rebuilding /System/Library/PrelinkedKernels/prelinkedkernel" That directory is what we're going to be targeting to fix our system. So, time to nuke it. rm -rf [location to /prelinkedkernel/prelinkedkernel] MAKE SURE YOU DOUBLE CHECK IT IS EXACTLY WHAT WAS OUTPUT WHEN YOU TRIED THE COMMAND ABOVE.

IMPORTANT: YOU MAY RECEIVE A READ ONLY ERROR! DO NOT PANIC. I've done this on multiple machines and it really is hit or miss whether or not this will appear. Regardless, the solution is simple. The following code tag only applies to if you encounter this issue. Fsck mount -uw / RE-ENTER THE FOLLOWING COMMAND! You need a more specific location now. rm -rf /Volumes/[NAME]/System/Library/PrelinkedKernels/prelinkedkernel touch /Volumes/[NAME]/System/Library/Extensions && kextcache -u /Volumes/[Name] Now you should be receiving "/Volumes/[NAME] locked; waiting for lock." This is a good thing. Wait a few seconds, you'll receive "Lock acquired; proceeding." After that, you'll be back at -bash-3.2#, and it will appear as if nothing happened. Again, this is expected. For people who didn't have to use the Fsck command, simply type the following and receive the usual "Waiting for lock; Lock received" response. touch /Volumes/[NAMEHERE]/System/Library/Extensions && kextcache -u /Volumes/[NAME HERE] Now, use your up arrow on the keyboard to re-enter this command. If nothing happens, you're golden. If it detects kexts with invalid signatures, that's still okay - but for future reference, don't go the ##### approach/philosophy of installing kexts to your system drive. Take this as a warning. Go ahead and reboot, and start your installation just like normal. You'll now get past the 0x1 error. Congratulations! If you get hung up anywhere, go back to clover and add “-f” to the boot flags, then boot again. You should make it back to your desktop with no damage whatsoever.

Like nothing ever happened! Now, as for what causes this, I honestly have no idea. All I know is when you have a working system, make some kind of modication/tweak/installation that HS doesn't agree with, you can possibly get this error on some systems. It's rare, but exists, and unfortunately this is the only way I've been able to get past it. It's not too much work, so don't be too intimidated. You'll have your system back in no time. If you'd like some personalized 1-on-1 support, read my signature and contact me that way. I'm more than happy to help, or at the very least take some time out of my day to analyze your issue and give my thoughts. Thanks for reading my first guide, I'm hoping to publish some more fixes to make High Sierra as painless as possible for every user.

Requirements Here are the requirements: A Dell Latitude E6320 – This is necessary to install macOS Sierra for this tutorial A copy of Mac OS X – This can be in the form of an existing hackintosh, a virtual machine within Windows or Linux, or even a regular Mac. If you don’t have any of these things, then find someone who can help you out for a while. I prefer using a hackintosh with OSX El Capitan, Using an already working copy of Mac OS X either in a VM or a native hackintosh install is HIGHLY recommended. A 8GB USB flash drive (or larger) – We’ll be copying the files to the drive appropriately, so make sure that you have a flash drive with enough storage space (8GB or larger). A copy of macOS Sierra – The method used by this guide requires that you have a copy of the macOS Sierra Installation app, wich is available for free from the Mac App Store. 30-60 minutes of time – Depending on how tech-savvy you are, this may be quick, or it may take a while. An SSD or HDD to install 10.12 to – For me, I used a 500GB HDD to install 10.12 to. An Wireless N Nano USB Adaptor – For use with wifi Highly recommended. I use a TP-LINK TL-WN725N adaptor. E6320_V2.zip – This ZIP file contains everything that you need to get your flash drive properly prepared. 3. My Specs My installation was successfully done on an Dell Latitude E6320 i5-2520M laptop computer with the following specs. Intel Core i5-2520M @ 2.5GHz, 3MB cache, Dual Core 4GB DDR3 1333Mhz RAM Western Digital 250GB HDD INTEL HD3000 Video Intel 825xx onboard network Dell wireless 375 Bluetooth 3.0 onboard (works OOB) IDT 92HDxxx HD audio onboard TL-WN725N Wireless N Nano USB Adaptor Apple Magic Trackpad (only @home) Apple Wireless Keyboard US (only @home) Apple Magic Mouse 4. Download OS X Sierra Download macOS Sierra from the Mac App Store. Once macOS Sierra is downloaded, close the install pop-up that appears using Command (⌘)+Q. The application INSTALL macOS Sierra will appear in /Applications Done! 5. Prepare bootable USB Installer Note on flash drives: You will need a USB flash drive to make this work. Your USB should be at least 8GB and a USB 3.0 drive is preferred. Kingston sells an 8GB USB 3.0 drive for less than 10 euro. 11. I used to have El Capitan and Windows 8 working on two separate drives perfectly for the most part and have had dual boot working great for years. For some reason after some time I started having strange issues while booting into either OS or having slow loadup speeds when booting onto mac side. So I decided while I had some free time I was going to do a full clean wipe of both the windows and mac ssd and start fresh. To summarize my installation process. Made a windows 10 (rufus GPT) and sierra usb install on two usb drives. Booted into sierra installer, wiped both ssd's with disk utility as Mac os Journaled and GUID, and then installed sierra. I get sierra working fine using Clover UEFI bootloader and I can boot from it without the need for the usb installer (aka clover is working fine) so I begin the windows install. I unplug all drives except the windows ssd and install windows onto that. I make sure I can boot into windows with no issues as well. Now here is where the problem occurs. I plug my drives back in, and my 3tb storage hdd is recognized just fine in windows and clover, however in clover I am not longer able to see my sierra ssd, but I can see the recovery partition for it. So I use the sierra install usb and check in disk utility and it seems like somehow after the windows install, my Sierra partition is being corrupted/wiped because under the ssd name the partition no longer says "Macintosh HD" but is being replaced with just "--" So somehow after the Windows install, the Sierra partition which is on a completely different ssd is being wiped out. I have tried this process 3+ times and the same thing keeps happening. I know I am not wiping the partition because the ssd is unplugged during the windows install. Only when I plug it back in and then try t boot from it or the sierra install usb do I realize that the partition is gone. So I am not sure what in the world could cause this but any input or ideas would be super appreciated because this has already taken up close to 24 hours of time spread across a few days trying to resolve and I am out of ideas and extremely stress because of this. Thank you! Relevant Specs: MoBo: GIGABYTE GA-Z87X-UD4H on version F9 Two Samsung 840 EVO SSD's UPDATE: Plot twist... So since I already had windows installed and my sierra partition got removed somehow, I decided to just keep windows on their and install sierra afterwards. Once I did that, the same thing that was happening to sierra was happening to windows. And I cant boot to it via clover or any other method. So i checked and the only difference is the partition name still showed up in Disk Utility but it said that only 300mb of it was being used (it should be gigs of data since the OS was installed on it). So now Sierra works great but windows is borked. For some reason whenever I install one os, the other is getting destroyed and I have absolutely no idea why.

  18. Hello, I have installed OSx86 10.11 (El Capitan) on April 2016 on my Asus Z170 Deluxe system. For installation I used this Thread. I used it a lot and it worked well. Meanwhile I switched to Linux and I use Win10 time to time. So OSX was forgotten. Also it did not boot correctly anymore. Now I wanted to start with a fresh installation and use OSX more often again. I want to use OSX 10.13 High Sierra. Is it working on my Asus Z170 Deluxe? I have the same Hardware as of April 2016 only the graphics card was updated to a Nvidia GTX1080. My Hardware in detail: Asus Z-170-Deluxe (Bios 3801), i7-6700k, EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 SC GAMING ACX 3.0, Samsung 950 Pro/M2 NVME 512MB, HDD 4 TB) Can I use some of support files from the old thread for the installation (see attachment)? Can I still use Clover 2.3k r3292 Special Edition v2 ? Or do I need a newer version? Has someone installed High Sierra successfully on the Asus Z170 Deluxe ? About some hints where to start I would be thankful. regards JackBauer24 Z170DeluxeFiles.zip
  19. Hi folks Excuse this probably rather noob-ish question but I have been fiddling with OSX86 for years now and always left everything to the multitude of tools out there to get me up and running. Since recently moving to Clover UEFI booting I have done about 60+ installs on my hardware ranging from Mavericks, Yosemite, El-Capitan and now Sierra and in all cases I was always up and running and had no problems except for CPU Power Management. Only this morning I came across this post which goes step by step in detail about creating a unique serial number, board ID etc. I have never done this on any of my installs, I just simply used Clover configurator, chose a system definition and never added any serial numbers as I had never even noticed the two buttons that say "shake" So I went through that guide and when I rebooted it asked me to relogin to icloud which I did and it accepted it. So what I want to know, is this even necessary due to the fact that everything Apple related has been working 100% without these serial numbers ie iCloud, iTunes, App Store, FindMyMac, iCloud KeyChain etc etc etc all been working just fine and dandy without all the serial numbers and board ID's. Thanks in advance for any reply or clarification. Regards Mitchell
  20. Hi there guys, So today I tried installing maverick(10.9) to my PC and I went through all the steps and I got in to the desktop. But my screen was flickering and the system was really slow. I assumed it had something to do with my gpu drivers but I couldn't find any that would work with my OS version. Here are my specs: MOTHERBOARD: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 CPU: AMD FX-8350 Eight-Core Processor 4.01GHz RAM: 16GB DDR3 2207.4 MHz GPU: GIGABYTE Technology NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 GDDR5 4GB Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.
  21. Title says it all. I have an R9 390 working great on Sierra thanks to cyberdevs on this forum. That being said, I still have no audio and have "No Audio devices" in settings and system report. I'm running a displayport cable from the R9 390 to my monitor, an XR341CK, and was hoping to get audio from the built-in speakers. Anyone have any ideas? I've already tried installing the RealtecALC.kext for the ALC887 codec in S/L/E. Running this via onboard audio on my ASUS B150M-A mobo. Thank you in advanced - lord knows this forum has saved me from plenty of headaches.
  22. Hey all, I have a PC with the following AMD FX 6300 CPU Gigabyte 78-LMT-USB3 Mobo Sapphire Nitro RX 460 (4GB) Sierra is installed, and runs fine with these flags: UseKernelCache=No -f -v -x npci=0x2000 But if I try to use UseKernelCache=No -f -v npci=0x2000 Sierra freezes after DSMOS arrives Images: Safe Boot: Freezing after DSMOS: I'm using Enoch and Sierra GM (10.12.0) I've removed these kexts from /S/L/E pmtelemetry.kext AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext AppleTyMCEDriver.kext Kernel is 10.12.0 beta from Bronya, with /S/L/E/System.kext replaced by Bronya's copy. I haven't as yet merged the frameworks, but will be doing so in the next 10 minutes. Any ideas? What I've done so far: - Merged frameworks, no changes when booting normally, or in safe mode. - Updated FakeSMC to latest RehabMan build, no change when booting normally, or in safe mode - Updated SMBios to MacPro5,1 from iMac17,1. No change when booting normally, or in safe mode
  23. Hello, happy new year and I hope you're doing well! I upgraded to High Sierra despite my intentions not to, and I've encountered some general lag and slow speed with my CPU. Often, Logic Pro X will present a "System Overload" popup that I had only ever seen before when returning from sleep. Now it will frequently occur in between songs. I have an MSI Gaming 7 and a i5-4690K. Any help will be appreciated. I'm sure many of you are having issues similar if I am. Thank you for your time.
  24. Hi Insanlymac’ers. I have a super deal on a WX9100 Radeon Pro Vega, but I only have 12 hours to repond, or it’s gone. Is this card able to run in High Sierra and take advantage of all 16GB ram? Thanks in advance!
