  3. ****************************************************************************************************************************** IF YOU WANT A RAW COPY (THAT INCLUDES ACTUAL FORMATTING) OF THIS UNFINISHED GUIDE, ASK ME THROUGH PRIVATE MESSAGE, THEN MODIFY IT AND SEND IT BACK TO ME THROUGH PRIVATE MESSAGE, IT'LL BE A PLEASURE TO UPDATE IT, BUT I'M NOT ACTIVE HERE ANYMORE -- ALSO, IF YOU KNOW HOW TO HAVE THIS THREAD'S OWNERSHIP CHANGED AND WANT TO OWN IT, LET ME KNOW HOW TO PROCEED AS I DO NOT WISH TO KEEP IT FOR ME, THANKS! ****************************************************************************************************************************** Hi, I'm starting this new topic in the hope to, progessively, create a guide for a vanilla (as much as possible) OS X Installation on Z400/Z600/Z800 Workstations. I invite you to participate in the comments so that this topic becomes an easy-to-follow guide. The idea of doing this emerged from information exchanged with other members (proteinshake, MacPeet, zhangtemplar, MacUser2525, nitelava & apav) in topic titled "Fix my HP! Just a few random DSDT-edits to improve your HacMac experience." originally created by proteinshake. Main goals of this guide Explain manual procedures; Avoid "magical" utilities, but don't ignore them (they can sometimes be time/life savers); Make you become independent & aware of the inner mechanics of creating a functional Hackintosh, so that you can repeat & adapt those procedures for future hackintosh projects. *** AS THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS TOPIC, I WILL NEED SOME HELP TO GATHER ACCURATE INFORMATION *** HELP NEEDED, PLEASE READ THIS SECTION, THANKS! As I only own a Z400 Workstation, I'd need you (those who own Z600 and Z800 Workstations) to send me your lspci output. To do so, you have 2 options: Boot with a Linux LiveCD (see the Tools/Utilities/kexts or other useful links section at the bottom of this post); If you already have an OSX version installed, you'll need to install lspci (see the Tools/Utilities/kexts or other useful links section at the bottom of this post). Type the following command : lspci -nnvv >~/Desktop/lspci-nnvv_output.txt If you are using Linux, please also type this command (before creating the following, make sure you updated your BIOS to v03.57) : sudo cat /sys/firmware/acpi/tables/DSDT >~/Desktop/DSDT.aml OR: sudo cat /proc/acpi/dsdt >~/Desktop/DSDT.aml (whichever works for you) Copy those files to a USB flash drive, send them to yourself by email or whatever other method you want. Then, reply to this topic mentionning which workstation you have, and attach the file(s) created above. ALSO, if you got Clover to boot your Z400 / Z600 / Z800 Worktation, PLEASE send us your config.plist so that we can have a starting point. I'm trying to switch from Chameleon to Clover, but I'm still unable to fix a Kernel Panic I have; I will report it with a screenshot soon in the comments, maybe some of you might know why I get it. Requirements Another Mac or Hackintosh machine; 8GB+ USB flash drive; BIOS updated to latest version (v03.57, 2013-09-20 release, found HERE); This is mandatory for 2 reasons : patched DSDT files included in this guide will not work (properly) if you use a different BIOS version; that latest BIOS version fixes possible erratic behaviours with Xeon 3600 & 5600 CPU series. Z400/Z600/Z800 specific files (see Z400/Z600/Z800 specific information sections further below). BIOS setup instructions (eventually, there will be screenshots) You must set your hard drive controller to AHCI+RAID mode, else you won't be able to use your SATA devices. ... Generic instructions (for all downloads/credits, see Tools/Utilities/kexts or other useful links & All attached files sections at the bottom of this post) Get a copy of Yosemite Installer from the AppStore; Create a Yosemite boot DVD or USB (USB recommended); Partition & format the USB Flash Drive : Put your USB Flash Drive in a USB port; Open Disk Utility; Select your USB Flash Drive disk in the left pane; Click on the "Partition" tab in the right pane; Change "Partition Scheme" to 1; Click on "Options" at the bottom; Make sur you select GUID (first one) and click on OK; Give it a name, let's say Yosemite-Installer for the sake of this guide; Change "Format" to "Extended Mac OS (journaled)" (AFTER THIS STEP, YOU'LL ERASE YOUR USB Flash Drive, so make a backup first if you have important data on it!); Click on "Apply"; Create a USB Flash Drive with Yosemite Installer on it; Open Terminal; Copy/Paste the following command (make sure to verify the path names as they might differ slightly on your setup) - it will ask for your user password to elevate the command at root permission level : sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Yosemite.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/YosemiteInstaller --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Yosemite.app --nointeraction Wait until it's completed (takes about 20 minutes, depending on your setup and USB speed); Into your volume's /System/Library/Extensions folder, copy the following kernel extensions (kext) : AHCIPortInjector_v1.0.0_Micky1979.kext.zip & IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector_v1.0.0_Micky1979.kext.zip - Those extensions make OS X detect your SATA controller. You'll get the "Waiting for root device..." message if you don't install those. (Couldn't yet find official page nor original thread for those, please let me know if you found it - credits seem to go to Micky1979); FakeSMC_v6.16.1372_netkas.kext.zip - emulates Apple's SMC chip found on Apple motherboards; NullCPUPowerManagement_v1.0.0d2_tgwbd.kext.zip - prevents kernel panic of genuine Apple Power Management; (optional for the install disk, this is to get sound working) VoodooHDA_v2.87.kext.zip (autumnrain, slice2009) - The file attached here is version 2.87 with a tweaked Info.plist to fix noise & volume issues for our workstations. According to my tests, HDADisabler kext is not needed (probably because original unpatched AppleHDA won't detect our Realtek ALC262 chipset). Now, let's rebuild that target volume's kernel cache with the following command : kextcache -f -update-volume /Volumes/YosemiteInstall Create the Extra folder on your Yosemite's install disk : mkdir -p /Volumes/YosemiteInstaller/Extra Install a bootloader Chameleon ... Known problems Unable to find a working AppleHDA patch for Realtek ALC262 (sound is working using VoodooHDA with tweaked Info.plist, see Generic instructions section above); USB Mass Storage devices are ejected upon wake (PLEASE let us know if you know who to fix this!); Impossible to boot without -f flag in Chameleon, unless ALL kexts are in /System/Library/Extensions (which is not really a problem); ... Audio / HDA : Apple Hardware Dumps (tea blog) - Dumps of system information from original Apple computers (ioreg, acpi, lspci, audio codec dump, etc.); HDA Wizard for Mountain Lion (janek202) - Tool that helps you patch AppleHDA (apparently works with Yosemite); it was not yet possible to use this to successfully patch AppleHDA for Z400/Z600/Z800 Realtek ALC262 chipset (using VoodooHDA for now, see attachments in the Generic instructions section). Power Management : Intel Power Gadget (Jun De Vega @ Intel) - "Intel® Power Gadget is a software-based power usage monitoring tool enabled for 2nd Generation Intel® Core™ processors or later.". [Note : This won't work with Nehalem processors. I use (and prefer) HWSensors' HWMonitor]. DSDT / SSDT / binary patching : Apple Hardware Dumps (tea blog) - Dumps of system information from original Apple computers (ioreg, acpi, lspci, audio codec dump, etc.); ACPICA iASL & Intel ACPI Tools 20150619 / github repository (ACPICA) - "The ACPI Component Architecture (ACPICA) project provides an operating system (OS)-independent reference implementation of the Advanced Configuration and Power Interface Specification (ACPI)."; HexPatcher (EvOSX86) - Universal / generic hex patcher for any kind of Mac OS X binary; MaciASL (phpdev32) - "A native AML compiler and IDE for OS X, with syntax coloring, tree navigation, automated patching, online patch file repositories, and iASL binary updates."; ssdtPRGen.sh Beta (Piker-Alpha) - "Script to generate a SSDT for Power Management". 7. Any ideas on what is causing this? I have not had this sleep wake issue except with 10.13.x but then all previous builds I turned PM off. Any Help would be greatly appreciated!!! 9. If you have a working Brightness Slider and you might be using Brightness slider or manual hotkeys to control brightness then this guide may help you to use your Native hotkeys of laptop. (All the Credits goes to @RehabMan For OS-X-ACPI-Debug Kext and DSDT Patches.) This step assumes that you are using RehabMan's VoodooPS2Controller Install the kext: https://github.com/RehabMan/OS-X-ACPI-Debug Open MaciASL and click on patch.(Add rehab man repo) Apply "Add DSDT Debug Methods" and "Instrument EC Queries" that are under Brightness Fix. Save the DSDT and restart Look in Syslog as you press the key corresponding to brightness to determine which _QXX methods handle the keys Then patch DSDT: into method label _Q1D replace_content begin // Brightness Down\n Notify(\_SB.PCI0.LPCB.PS2M, 0x0205)\n Notify(\_SB.PCI0.LPCB.PS2M, 0x0285)\n end; into method label _Q1C replace_content begin // Brightness Up\n Notify(\_SB.PCI0.LPCB.PS2M, 0x0206)\n Notify(\_SB.PCI0.LPCB.PS2M, 0x0286)\n end; Change the variable _Q1D/_Q1C as per the log. 7. Try compiling and check if it generates errors 8. If it does, then change the PS2M to PS2X according to the one found in your DSDT 9. Save and place the compiled DSDT. 10. Now you should see that you have your corresponding keys to change your brightness FOR more detail and Queries,Check Out original Post of @RehabMan Here; http://www.insanelym...18#entry1997112 Get Latest Version of OS-X-ACPI-Debug kext here: https://bitbucket.org/RehabMan/os-x-acpi-debug/downloads

    ACPI Battery Help

Hey all! I could use some help here, I have an Acer Aspire 7741z with a seemingly unique battery. I attempted some of Rehabman's patches and his ACPIBatteryManager.kext but nothing has worked. If anyone could help me, I'd greatly appreciate it. Attached is my DSDT. Please and thank you! dsdt.aml.zip
  11. Nice, seeing High Sierra running on this old but capable system! It rocks with a new ASUS GT1030 Config: Gigabyte EP43-DS3L Core2Quad Q9300 6 GB DDR2 RAM Asus GT1030 2GB Sandisk SSD 128GB TP-Link AC1200 Wifi USB Inateck KT4006 USB 3.0 PCIe (No boot) SMBIOS: iMac14,1 Clover: 4297 A good deal of DSDT editing was necessary to get this machine to boot High Sierra but finally it works flawlessly, even sleep and wake! You NEED to have the DSDT put in place for installation because otherwise macOS doesn't recognize the SATA ports. There are a few important BIOS settings: SATA hast to be set to AHCI and "native" and HPET has to be run "64-bit", I'd recommend to disable IDE and the serial and parallel port. For the GT1030 nVidia Webdrivers are needed, have to boot with nv_disable=1 until you have them installed. You have to install Clover in legacy mode because this old fella does not support UEFI. Only downside: The so often recommended Inateck USB-card isn't recognized by BIOS, so you cannot boot from it. It works perfectly within macOS though, have the ac-Wifi connected to it. config.plist.zip DSDT.aml.zip
  12. Hello everyone, I have an Asus gl502vmk (i7 kabylake + GTX 1060 6 gb) laptop and I tried all the patches/kexts to get the brightness with fn keys/touchpad (I2C ELAN 1200 works with VooDoo I2C kext v1.0 but no gestures/preference pane)/Keyboard backlight to work but no success so far, any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance. [EDIT] (10/04/2018) Battery status now works, thanks to @RehabMan turned out to be incorrect SMBIOS (used iMac instead of Mbp) lol, but it drains crazy fast (~1.5 - 2 hours while on standby (all apps quited!), on windows 10 it lasts 4 - 5 hours, and on linux it lasts 6 ~ 7 hours!) And with VoodooI2C v2.0.1 + VoodooI2CHID kext and patched DSDT, the touchpad is now detected in the sys pref pane but still no input. Sound works with VoodooHDA v2.9.1, but the only issue is that the jack sense isn't working (the output device doesn't auto switch to headphone when connected) [EDIT 2] (11/04/2018) The system brightness now works thanks to @onejay09 but I have no brightness slider, and there are 4 extra brightness levels (brightness stops increasing after 12 levels) and the brightness keys are not mapped correctly, plus the brightness decreases when I plug in the ac adapter, then increases if I unplug it???, the brightness level isn't also saved after reboot. battery still drains crazy fast (~1.5 - 2 hours, even with brightness at 50%, so apparently it is a power management issue). and I also have shutdowns while in sleep mode (I tried darkwake=10 and darkwake-0 and darkwake=no) P.S. I have uploaded my new report files, thanks! Latest report files (11/04/2018): https://www95.zippyshare.com/v/AMOpP0AY/file.html
  13. With the purpose of running the beloved Apple Mac OS X on our Intel ASUS laptop I am writing this guide to share my experience and knowledge about this Hackintosh. This tutorial applies to running versions between 10.9 and 10.11.6, focusing specially in El Capitan. This method applies also for Sierra but at the moment my WiFi Card doesn't work well with 10.12 so I chose to remain in a stable Mac OS X I have 99% functionality: What Works : WiFi, Bluetooth, Airdrop, HandOff, FindMyMac (WiFi card has to be replaced, I put a BCM94352HMB) Full QE/CI acceleration with integrated HD4400 graphics Trackpad with 1finger, 2finger, 3finger and 4finger gestures Keyboard (Perfect with Volume, Brightness, Play/Pause, Numpad working) Battery Percentage Sleep, Shutdown and Reboot Internal Speakers, Internal Microphone, Headphone Jack, HDMI audio DVD Drive HDMI audio and video VGA out iMessage and FaceTime Recovery Partition What is not working Internal SD Card Reader When you install Clover Bootloader to your USB media or HDD you should select the following options: - Install for UEFI booting only - Install Clover in the ESP - Drivers64UEFI (Fat-64, OSxAptioFix2Drv) After installation is complete, the EFI partition we want to configure will already be mounted, so we proceed to open it and do the following Install HFSPlus.efi and NTFS.efi in drivers64UEFI folder and remove VboxHFS.efi Open the folder /EFI/Clover/kexts and delete all the folders starting by 10 and leave only the “other” folder In the above mentioned “other” folder place the kexts that I will quote next, please note that the kexts marked in red are the absolute necessary ones for booting Mac OS X installer , the rest should only be installed afterwards, after having Mac OS X installed to your hard drive and directly to /System/Library/Extensions : ACPIBatteryManager.kext AppleALC.kext ApplePS2SmartTouchpad.kext BrcmFirmwareRepo.kext BrcmPatchRAM (Mavericks) or BrcmPatchRAM2 (Yosemite or later) CodecCommander.kext DisableTurboBoostBattery.kext FakePCIID_XHCIMux.kext (Only for El Capitan) FakePCIID_IntelHDMIaudio.kext FakePCIID_BroadcomWiFI.kext (makes my BCM94352HMB work) FakePCIID_IntelHDGraphics.kext FakePCIID.kext FakeSMC, HWInfo, IntelCPUMonitor (HwSensors3 from Slice) IntelBacklight.kext RealtekRTL8111.kext USBInjectAll.kext (Only for El Capitan) After all the kexts necessary are in the correct folder, proceed to mimic my config.plist Note that the Kext patches included only work for El Capitan. If you want older version support, post here and I can help. I recommend using Clover Configurator App config.plist.zip For your SMBIOS choose MacbookPro11,2 and shake those serial numbers to really get a genuine one. In order to get everything working properly , follow these guidelines for ACPI tables patching. Firstly, press F4 at Clover GUI in order to dump the native ACPI tables. You will most probably get a crash, a red screen full of weird black numbers and strange symbols, do not worry, just force shutdown. At the next boot if you look in /EFI/Clover/ACPI/origin in your USB you should have a bunch of files. After getting MaciASL and acpica tools from RehabMan (always updated) and installing them, and adding rehabman’s laptop dsdt patch repository, which is this: https://github.com/R...ptop-DSDT-Patch I recommend patching these tables before installing Mac OS X in order to have a better user experience and better functionality as well as a cleaner and smoother install. Your computer may not even reach the installer since we have no way of disabling our discrete NVIDIA Geforce 820m without getting our hands dirty in DSDT patches. Delete all files that don’t start with DSDT or SSDT- If you have an SSDT with an x just delete it because it is dynamically loaded and so does not need our attention. Place the files in our interest in a folder and: cd /path/to/a/folder iasl -da -dl *.aml After obtaining the .dsl files you should open them and check for errors. In the latest BIOS we have the following errors: DSDT- We will find 4 errors The parse op Zero errors can be fixed by deleting all the “Zero” you find in the conflicting place The remaining two errors are fixed by applying the ADBG fix from RehabMan repo SSDT-1- We find many errors and all can be fixed by applying the patch “Remove _PSS placeholders” SSDT-12- We find an error related to a specific sector of a cryptic DOS device, we can safely delete these following lines from the SSDT Now that all our ACPI tables are nice and clean we can proceed to patching First of all, open all the tables at the same time and hit Command + F to bring up the Find Replace dialog box and Find:GFX0 and Replace it with: IGPU Find:B0D3 and Replace it with HDAU Do this in all the tables, so the renames are the same in all your tables When that is done, apply the following patches to the DSDT: Use the patch "DTGP" (you can easily find it with our friend Google ) Use the patch "Fix _WAK Arg0 v2" Use the patch "HPET Fix" Use the patch "SMBUS Fix" Use the patch "IRQ Fix" Use the patch "RTC Fix" Use the patch "OS Check Fix Windows 8” Use the patch "Add IMEI" Use the patch “7-8 Series USB” Use the patch "USB PRW 0x0D" Use the patch "Igpu Brightness Fix" Use the patch "Audio Layout id 3" When you have applied the Audio Layout Patch just Find: layout and it should show the only result, then make that part look like mine, so that you can use AppleALC for native on the fly audio If you want HDMI audio you should open SSDT-10 and find layout again and make it look like the one you just edited in DSDT, we do this because we want layout-id 29 instead of layout-id 3 For battery percentage you should use the ASUS N55SL/Vivobook patch Finally when you did all that you should follow RehabMan’s tutorial for Disabling Discrete Graphics Cards, on a web which I am not allowed to mention. This will give you much more battery life and a lot less heat. You should read it properly and you will notice there is close to no difference between his example and our laptop so it will be easier than it looks like. Make sure you also use the patch he posts to fix shutdown and sleep when our NVIDIA is disabled. After all the ACPI tables are properly patched save them all and cd /path/to/where/your/patched/tables/are Then delete all the original aml files And then iasl *.dsl After getting the resulting patched aml files, place them in /EFI/Clover/ACPI/patched for Clover to load it Place them all together in /EFI/Clover/ACPI/patched and in the ACPI section of your config.plist make sure to "Drop OEM" tables and set the "Sorted Order" as I did in the attached config.plist. Before installing Mac OS X make sure in your BIOS you have legacy mode disabled and you have secure boot and fast boot also disabled, so that Clover works well. Also make sure the controller is set to AHCI mode. Remember to use a GUID partition table on your Hard Drive and if you plan to dual boot just create two Mac OS Extended Journaled partitions, don't create any Fat partition using Disk Utility cause that will leave you unable to install Windows in UEFI mode. Post-Install Finally you will need to generate an SSDT using ssdtPRGen.sh (this can only be done when you have installed Mac OS X) https://github.com/P...ha/ssdtPRGen.sh Add it to the Sorted Order and you are done Make sure to set the hibernate mode to either 0 or 2 . You can copy the colour profiles from ASUS Splendid Utility and use them in Mac OS X, but for my eyes, I prefer the default LCD one This is the first fully functional Hackintosh I ever accomplished and it took me a few months of learning… I am using Mac OS X for about two or more years in this Hack and I am still in love like the very first boot hihihi This is almost the perfect HackBook and has worked since Mountain Lion until now Hope you enjoyed!

  15. Hey guys, so here's my problem. I open MaciASL, compile the DSDT, fix the errors and everything goes well. Now I want to add my DTGP method as I want to edit it, so I add the "Insert DGPT" patch and nothing happens. I can't find the "IGPU" folder. Would somebody help me? It would be really appreciated. I'm gonna attach my DSDT.dsl previously generated with Clover Bootloader (by pressing F4). DSDT.dsl If someone can add the DTGP for me I would be so happy because I simply can't do it, and I don't know why. Thanks in advance. Best regards.

  18. Hi there. I'm new to this site but not totally new to hack. I've had a hack since 10.4 and the latest version I ran was 10.9, not totally fixed but it worked to what I needed. Now I want to make the machine run as good as it can. I can see there has been a lot of changes/upgrades/new solutions since I installed my hack and I have a hard time to catch up. I've been able to boot and install macOSX and now I need the POST installation. I tried to install the clover EFI boot loader with these settings: and found the DSDT.aml and SSDT-0.aml from HERE found the apfs.efi and placed it in EFI -> EFI -> CLOVER -> driver64 and these kext in here: But when I boot it up this is the first bootscreen I have. No partions, no mouse control, no nothing. if I exit clover this screen appear. and now everything works. What is wrong? Cheers Soren

    Abilitare porta HDMI Asus K550JX

A voi cosa risulta? Riuscireste a darmi una mano? Grazie anticipatamente.

    Mac 10.13.1 DSDT help needed

I have an HP Elitebook 8460P running High Sierra 10.13.1 I'm trying to get battery status working and if I'm understanding it right I need to patch my DSDT.aml to get it working. I have attempted this and can't seem to get it to compile, always an error. Also i have managed to brick the system a few times attempting edits. I cant seem to figure it out I need to patch the DSDT to get battery status working even before patching, if attempting a compile with MaciASL I have 2 errors. Im fairly new to getting Mac running on Intel Based PCs. any help would be greatly appreciated. Attached is my DSDT.aml file pulled from: EFI/Clover/ACPI/origin/DSDT.aml generated by using clover bootloader help menu, via the F4 option. I used MaciASL to attempt the edits. using battery patches from here: https://github.com/RehabMan/Laptop-DSDT-Patch Is it possible for someone to patch the file for me, or is it something i have to do? As i said im fairly new to mac and would like to get this working DSDT.zip
