There's a BIOS mod for the R0142C5:

It increases the base clock 500 MHz of the GT640M LE to one of these:

  • 625MHz
  • 735MHz
  • 835MHz
  • 950MHz
Sony Vaio S Bios Mod For Gt640m Le

At least you can check if it works for you, so it means that the BIOS is patcheable. In any case, it's not advisable to leave the card overclocked all the time, just use it to test if works. About displaying the advanced menu, didn't find it yet, doesn't mean that doesn't exist.

Yeah i saw this one and as SVS users with computers that came with windows 8 preinstalled we dont need it because we can over clock it to 1Ghz from within windows without flashing anything. The issue here is not the patchable bios, it's the flashback if we ever f**k up anything! This is for SVS models that came with windows 7 because of the retarded bios that is shipped on any Vaio! (Omg Sony is such a retarded company).

Here is the problem: BIOS.

Also, i've done some research and apparently you must not let it disable the HD4000 as it's the "bridge" from Nvidia to any port (VGA HDMI LVDS) and also, no known flashback way on our VAIOs. If you know yours tell me so that I give it a try brefore flashing a Patched bios (just to try a clean one at least, it should not be of any harm).

So, what do you want to achieve exactly, the discrete graphics working on the Vaio S?

On the post #141 of this thread, the user says it got working really well switchable graphics. What do you think he's talking about, it's a Vaio S but a different BIOS?

I would read the entire thread so see if there's something of use. I'm sorry I can't help you more with this. Check also this blog, has a lot of information about working with Insyde H2O BIOS:

Also, in my bios (windows 7 model) I can't disable the discrete card at all...

And, on the link you shared, the guy said it wasnt working with svs model (which is what we have)

@midi What do you think of the thread from rehab?

Edit: My power management looks like this, is it good?

Everything seems to be working fine, used appleALC for sound and there was a lot of entry already in the config.plist

Edit2: Wait, i have some weird screen glitch when booting (when its around 50%  loaded)

Edit3: 10.11.6 is fine right?

Edit4: Yeah it's fine.

I played around with SMBIOS, I couldn't boot anymore... Is there any way to connect/login using my appleID

Edit5: So everything is fine except my nvidia card. Let's see if I'll manage to disable it

Edit: not true, my usb3 port stopped working after sleep/wake, but my usb2 is fine..?

I think I disabled my nvidia card, but I don't know how to check if it's really the case...

To disable the card, simply add _OFF() in the only _INI function in ssdt-7. No need to go in the bios.

My idle temp is 51-55, I'm not doing anything and my cpu is at 1.7ghz, is there any way I can push it down a bit more?

Thank you again for this thread, everything is working fine :P Except my usb when I wake from sleep (it's taking forever to go on sleep btw)

Edit: Enabling disable turboboost in clover really works? my computer goes higher then 2.5ghz and it's the limit without turboboost...

Edit2: "It is also clear in the guide that DropOem=true is required when you have patched SSDTs in ACPI/patched. You have it set false."

Just asked rehab for some insight on disabling the discrete card.. and well.. apparently, when you're using patched SSDT, you need to enable DropOem in clover. Just gonna leave this here since it's not in the guide

Okay so far I have this setup :

Working El Capitan 10.11.6

- Usbs (2.0,3.0)

- Power Management (3h30 on battery)

- Hdmi video/audio

- Wifi/Bluetooth

- Disabled discrete GPU in ssdt 7 (Called _OFF() in only the only _INI function) (followed rehab guide)

- Temp idle between 38 and 48

- Sleep/Wake

- SSD Trim

What's not working or is weird

- Display ram in About this mac

- Usb 3.0 when waking from sleep (usb 2.0 is still fine)

- Bluetooth can be disabled randomly after booting from a shutdown

- When I reduce the screen brigthness to 0, it turns off completely (needs reboot to get brigthness back)

- Weird screen when booting (second stage)

- It reset the settings.. it doesn't remember I disabled the guest account.

- iMessage/Facetime doesn't work (I was on the phone with apple for 3h and it's still not working)

Hi, guys!

I tried to install MacOS Sierra but it was fail. I downloaded new VoodooPS2Controller.kext, new Clover Bootloader and everything run well but I got following bugs:

  • "About my Mac" menu item doesn't work
  • Touchpad preferences window is just empty

The WiFi card (BCM94352) also doesn't work with the previous kext. And I gotta ask is there a way to get it to work? Please, tell me about your thoughts.

Read my previous post about macOS install and issues, its still there, aslo check rehabman's repo to get news on how to configure the touchpad in the plist (no other way right now, blame apple) also for wifi, you need to check rehabman's repo for that too, and the About This Mac menu, well that shouldn't happen.

I recommend you to revert back if you're using osx for important work.

Hey guys,

I got 10.12 fully working and even brightness and Volume keys are working.

Just to note that they are working starting from 10.12.1 not 10.12, also the only issue I'm having rn is disable Nvidia from SSDT-7, I tried so many things still enabled and raping my battery.

Also, forgot to mention, for people with weird RAM configurations (like 4+8 or 4+2 or something like that), About This Mac wont open. I'll try to add some edits in config.plist to manually show the RAM bars.

The Trackpad scrolling is choppy and you need to manually enable touch to tap via modded trackpad.prefpan or ioio.

OK I disabled Nvidia from SSDT! WEEEEW!

So what I did is:

  • Look for the responsible SSDT (for me SSDT-7, check yours, you can find out by decompiling add the SSDTs in a folder then look for the SSDTs using grep -l GFX0 *.dsl)
  • Applied GFX0 to IGPU renaming
  • Applied Cleanup/Fix Errors (SSDT)
  • Applied Disable from _INI (SSDT)
  • You'll get a Integer-Package error, click on it, remove the line
  • Find _ON method, remove it
  • _PS0 method will complain missing _ON method, comment or remove the line
  • Save as ACPI Machine Language Binary
  • Put it in patched folder
  • Reboot.

Anyone from those ACPI Patching please check if it's the correct way to this, cuz if I leave _ON the GPU will still get on even if I invoke _OFF.

Nice progress midi ッ!

Good to hear macOS Sierra works, too. If only I had more time to try with the Sony VAIO S13.. Now that I have a MacBook Pro Retina.. :D

Gonna get a Gaming Asus as my next device, apple devices are bad for my type of work and also ultra expensive for what i can get for the same price from a windows device, so expect a new guide lol (well until next year at this time anyway).

Also I would like you to add AppleALC support as it is waaaaaay better and really good solution for audio! And the Nvidia dirty patching, many have been looking for it. So myeah, sharing is caring.

Good night/day.

Glad to hear that!!

Can I update from my existing El Capitan installation or I need a fresh install? Are you planning on making another Guide or your other post is good enough?

Thank you!!

The other post is outdated, also if johnrey permits it, I will post a small guide like on my ATIV. Actually it's no big difference, only small mandatory changes to get the full great experience (no brightness buttons yet)

I would like to continue and update the tutorial or create a new one if it's too different from the current installation. Right now I'm very busy and can't say when or if at all I will update the tutorial.

You are 'allowed' to give instructions on how to update to Sierra.  :P

Guys can anyone help me out about the sound. My sound (ALC275) was working on El Capitan and I upgraded to Sierra and now it is not working anymore. I have tried followings

This is what I have tried
1. Original AppleHDA with following Clover patches
Find: 8419D411 Replace:7502EC10
Find: 8319D411 Replace:00000000
Find: 8508EC10 Replace:00000000

2. Patched AppleHDA(https://github.com/Mirone/AppleHDAPatcher) with patches
Find: 8419D411 Replace:7502EC10
Find: 8319D411 Replace:00000000
Find: 8508EC10 Replace:00000000

3. Patched AppleHD without any patch

4. AppleALC in EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other and CodecCommander installed to S/L/E

My DSDT already has Layoutid 3 patches Clover also has Audio Inject 3.

I will really appreciate if you can share clover patches and necessary kexts to make this work. Thanks a lot.

Hi!

thank you for your help

I tried your Boot graphics glitch patch and it''s worst now.. it just crash after the loading and reboot.

The SVF15 uses intel HD 4000 ... this is the configuration that I use in my VAIO with macOS Sierra 10.12.4.

In Clover / Graphics:
Dual link = 1, ig-platform-id = 0x01660004, Load Bios = yes, Inject Intel = yes.

Clover / Devices : UseintelHDMI = Yes

Clover / acpi: FixDisplay_0100 = yes, AddHDMI_8000000 = Yes.

Clover / KextsTopactch:
The Boot graphics glitch that I have put you before.
more:
HDMI-audio HD4000 0x01660004, port 0406
HDMI-video, 64MB BIOS, HD4000 0x01660004 # 1 of 2
HDMI-audio HD4000 0x01660004, port 0304
HDMI-video, 64MB BIOS, HD4000 0x01660004 # 2 of 2
HDMI-audio HD4000 0x01660004, port 0205

For the intel HD 4000 this is how I setup it.

I hope it serves you, which is your laptop.
