There's a BIOS mod for the R0142C5:

It increases the base clock 500 MHz of the GT640M LE to one of these:

625MHz

735MHz

835MHz

950MHz

At least you can check if it works for you, so it means that the BIOS is patcheable. In any case, it's not advisable to leave the card overclocked all the time, just use it to test if works. About displaying the advanced menu, didn't find it yet, doesn't mean that doesn't exist.

Yeah i saw this one and as SVS users with computers that came with windows 8 preinstalled we dont need it because we can over clock it to 1Ghz from within windows without flashing anything. The issue here is not the patchable bios, it's the flashback if we ever f**k up anything! This is for SVS models that came with windows 7 because of the retarded bios that is shipped on any Vaio! (Omg Sony is such a retarded company).

Also, i've done some research and apparently you must not let it disable the HD4000 as it's the "bridge" from Nvidia to any port (VGA HDMI LVDS) and also, no known flashback way on our VAIOs. If you know yours tell me so that I give it a try brefore flashing a Patched bios (just to try a clean one at least, it should not be of any harm).

So, what do you want to achieve exactly, the discrete graphics working on the Vaio S?

On the post #141 of this thread, the user says it got working really well switchable graphics. What do you think he's talking about, it's a Vaio S but a different BIOS?

Also, in my bios (windows 7 model) I can't disable the discrete card at all...

And, on the link you shared, the guy said it wasnt working with svs model (which is what we have)

Everything seems to be working fine, used appleALC for sound and there was a lot of entry already in the config.plist

Edit2: Wait, i have some weird screen glitch when booting (when its around 50% loaded)

Edit: not true, my usb3 port stopped working after sleep/wake, but my usb2 is fine..?

I think I disabled my nvidia card, but I don't know how to check if it's really the case...

To disable the card, simply add _OFF() in the only _INI function in ssdt-7. No need to go in the bios.

My idle temp is 51-55, I'm not doing anything and my cpu is at 1.7ghz, is there any way I can push it down a bit more?

Edit: Enabling disable turboboost in clover really works? my computer goes higher then 2.5ghz and it's the limit without turboboost...

Edit2: "It is also clear in the guide that DropOem=true is required when you have patched SSDTs in ACPI/patched. You have it set false."

Just asked rehab for some insight on disabling the discrete card.. and well.. apparently, when you're using patched SSDT, you need to enable DropOem in clover. Just gonna leave this here since it's not in the guide

Okay so far I have this setup :

Working El Capitan 10.11.6

- Usbs (2.0,3.0)

- Power Management (3h30 on battery)

- Hdmi video/audio

- Wifi/Bluetooth

- Disabled discrete GPU in ssdt 7 (Called _OFF() in only the only _INI function) (followed rehab guide)

- Temp idle between 38 and 48

- Sleep/Wake

- SSD Trim

What's not working or is weird

- Display ram in About this mac

- Usb 3.0 when waking from sleep (usb 2.0 is still fine)

- Bluetooth can be disabled randomly after booting from a shutdown

- When I reduce the screen brigthness to 0, it turns off completely (needs reboot to get brigthness back)

- Weird screen when booting (second stage)

- It reset the settings.. it doesn't remember I disabled the guest account.

- iMessage/Facetime doesn't work (I was on the phone with apple for 3h and it's still not working)
