Digital Out is working.

2 Channels is correct; Audio MIDI Setup is not designed for digital audio.

What happens when you connect Digital Out to your reciever/TV Digital In?

What application and audio source are you testing with?

i connect Digital Out to Xbox®5.1 Surround Sound System. only KODI player can output DTS 5.1,.

Below players cannot. so i am confuse.

Mac Bluray Player

MPlayerX

SPlayer

VLC

Aurora Blu-ray Player

Below players cannot. so i am confuse.

The player has to set up Encoded Output, those listed don't with one exception: MPlayerX_v1.0.22.1 - Yes/DD D/DTS (Set Preferences/Audio/Pass through AC3=Yes/DTS=Yes)

Add Plex to the DTS5.1 yes list.

VLC and Aurora Blu-ray Player tested they both work tested. As explained, receiver/amp decodes encoded soundstream. Switch to encoded digital output to get surround sound.

Toleda, let me add to the thanks for helping everyone around here out

My basics: P9x79 Pro (ALC898), 10.11.2, Clover 3330. Mostly everything working fine except sound, sleep and a few USB ports, so here I am

I followed the guide in your first post to use Clover to inject Audio ID 1 - seems to be working (attached screenshot of IOReg)

I used the script in audio_cloverALC-110.command.zip and everything seems to run fine actually. I noticed a few changes in my Clover config.plist (also attached) as a result of running.

Unfortunately when I reboot there is no working sound. I was thinking (hoping) the below might be a clue?

1/9/16 3:13:24.000 PM kernel[0]: Sandbox: systemsoundserve(272) deny(1) file-read-metadata /private/var/root
1/9/16 3:45:26.132 PM com.apple.xpc.launchd[1]: (com.apple.preference.sound.remoteservice[516]) Service exited due to signal: Killed: 9

I get the second one whenever I try and click the dropdown list of sound devices in System Preferences.

Have tried fresh install, rebuild permissions, etc.

I am using rootless=0 and CsrActiveConfig=0x3

If all of the problem reporting files are needed in this case happy to add but thought I would see if the above would be enough in this case....

thanks again!!

Hey Toleda,

I've used your CloverALC method to inject Audio ID 1 for ALC 892. I've got the correct layout-id in IOReg and still no audio devices show up.

Using original AppleHDA.kext, kext-dev-mode boot flags, and removed other HDAenablers etc. Even running the audio_codecdetect.command shows that everything is ok.

Clover config:

Any steps I'm missing?

Thanks!

Problem Reporting:

1. Description: ALC898 momentary audio interruptions

System Preferences->Sound shows that the Internal Speakers and Digital Out change rapidly between them during audio playback, which also results in the Output volume slider moving by itself and a momentary interruption in the audio playback.

I am not using digital audio, nor is it plugged in.

2. Latest Clover on El Capitan 10.11.2, P9X79 Pro, 4801 (latest), i7-4820K, GT 740 2GB.

3. I used this guide, method I., 3. PIke's clover only method.

4. All files attached.

Never mind, same problem still with Toleda's clover method. Must be something wrong with my install or hardware. Time to do a fresh install.

Do not see the problem.  Has sound worked previously? With Windows?

If convenient, a clean install on an empty partition may be helpful.

Thanks, that did the trick. Instead of importing everything from time machine and having old kexts in there, I manually moved the files I need.

  • 2 weeks later...

  1. Hi to all. Having a problem for a long time and still didn't manage to fix it. During a playback sound pops all the time. in Audio MIDI Setup - output jumps from Built-in Output to Build-in Digital Output. During iTunes play it can just stop to play.

    Yosemite 10.10.5 / Gigabyte GA-X79-UD3 / BIOS F16 / I7-3930K / GTX-670

    used this guide https://redd.it/397wl1

If anyone would help you will be a life saver, because it began to annoy very much over time.

config.plist is corrupt

AppleHDA.kext not attached.

Installation: use Post #1/cloverALC

I just solved this today (finally) with my own system. I finally solved by re-doing the SSDT. Attached is the SSDT that I used, but obviously this depends a bit upon your motherboard.

This is for my ASUS P9X79 PRO. You could strip it down to just the HDEF section, per Toleda's many guides.
