Here's a modified OSInstall.mpkg for Developer Preview 2

This is untested, as I can't get either XPC or [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] to work with my GA-P67A-UD3-B3 Sandy Bridge system even though Lion kernel apparently works for the new architecture (MBR Start!, then black screen). Those who did get a working Sandy Bridge install- Did you have to set the multiplier to 29 like in Snow Leopard?

I have the same MB with a i5-2400 and a 9500GT and 4GB, but not the B3 one,and I have "MBR Start!, then black screen" too..can't even boot...

 

I only got boot using "hackinstaler"...I saw the option "base system" with wallpaper, and after I chose it ,several "verbose" screens pass and then the system reboots.

I have SL running OK with busratio=30

Followed the various guides and got a working boot USB stick (could see drives).

But when I move a known working drive with 10.7 DP2 to the machine and use the boot stick to choose it, I get a KP.

Tried all tricks like removing kernel cache, with and without fakesmc, with and without DSDT, with and without platform support but same KP.

Also used an [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] USB stick with same problems.

Any ideas or should I go thru the whole install procedure rather than just move a drive from a genuine mac?

 

Did you use terminal to copy the EFI folder & Efildr20 to the Flash disk? Does not seem to work if you drag & drop copy.

but interface is very laggy, only fixed by the valv chameleon for sandy bridge, obviously which i can't use with lion

need NullCPU and FakeSMC and followed the guide on the other thread in this forum

need some more CPU specific settings to get lion smooth on sandy bridge

a bootsector that could load efildr20

and then have a very useful swissknife wit dozen of winimage packages?

Re: DP2 (11a419)

 

1. Using netkas' boot file and Chameleon RC3, get the good ole double KP.

 

2. Using XPC 0.82.29. get a KP on AppleRTC.kext. For grins, removed the kext and it continued to boot further but then would hang with no stated KP. Since I can't boot, I can't test the problem I had with DP1 (11A390) where VoodooPS2 would not load, leaving me with no keyboard.

 

3. Using [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] 1.5a, I can boot but with interesting result. With DP1 (11A390), I had to first remove the kernelcache in order to boot reliably. With DP2 I can boot reliably, but I do not get sound unless I first remove the kernelcache prior to booting.

I managed to get to the language chooser using XPC

After that, system told me it can't be installed on this machine - only backup or restore.

What to do next?

Yes, you can install DP2 directly, same method used for DP1 install.

Just make function installCheckScript() return true, I guess.

 

For me it wasn't necessary, the value I use as ProductName is listed in platformSupportValues.

my instalCheckScript was already returning true. I tried false also, but it still gave me the error message that mac os x cant be installed on this computer

Add "return true;" in the beginning of the function. Editing the one at the end won't work, it's returning false in one of the checks before it.

Lion DP2's iCal won't run on Lion DP1 so I doubt it.

I've installed three times without seeing that error so unfortunately a bad image looks likely.

Sorry, didnt work for me. Installer complains all volumes are not GUID(GPT). All my MBT volumes are not selectable for install.
