I have a question regarding the SATA ports of GA-X58A-UD3R Rev. 2.0.

 

I have set every available SATA-port in BIOS to AHCI, the 6 normal ones, the two JMicron Ports and the two Marvell ports. It seems, that the Marvell ports are loaded by the BIOS as IDE-drives, even though AHCI is set in BIOS for them.

 

Can someone explain to me, why that is?

The Realtek driver from this thread worked on first try. And I tried every singel Realtek driver I could find until now. But this one is just great, works in 64bit etc.

 

 

works in GA-X58A-UD3R Rev. 2.0.???

As you can see in my signature, I am on GA-X58A-UD3R Rev. 2, and yes, Ethernet for RTL8111e now works for me.

I can't say for Audio on 5.1. I use Line Out (Green Rear) for audio.

 

wait where is the RTL811e.kext you're using located? I use the IOnetworkingfamily.kext that was linked to on this thread, i think around page 4 and everything works, except I have about a 15 second gap before I have working internet when the system comes back up from sleep.

 

how long is the gap with the Kext you use?

ok, i could really use some help. i have x58a-ud3r rev 2.0 with bios FB (from the website dated 2010/08/24), 930, 3x2GB (took one stick out for installation purposes), GTX 480. i loaded optimized defaults, boot from cd first, hdd second, changed the first SATA entry to AHCI (left the others alone), left ACPI alone (default is S3(STR)) and changed HPET mode to 64-bit. i downloaded the latest [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] Supported from tonymac, booted and get to the load screen for [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url]. swap the [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] cd for the snow leopard retail dvd, hit F5, then hit enter on the loaded dvd. it runs for a few seconds, then kernel panics and i have to hard reset. i load [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] again, swap disks, F5, but this time I run with -x flag and get to the install page. system is able to install to hdd. i restart with [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url], choose the new installation on hdd but still have to add the -x flag to boot. bigger problem, i tried putting update files, dsdt and [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] on a usb and dvd and OS won't read either because it's in -x mode. no idea how everyone is able to boot without -x flag during installation or even after install. no idea how to get [url="http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/"]#####[/url] files onto hdd to try and fix everything. what am i missing?

By the way, I still wait for an answer for a question I asked you earlier: you wrote, that you get Geekbench results of 14.000 - same as MacPro 2010 Xeon 2.8GHz. i have an i7 950, and even overclocked I only get around 12.000. So how did you get your machine running so fast?

Try disabling the power saving features in the BIOS. Not the S3, but the others. Sorry I can't be more specific, but I can't reboot right now to check for you.

 

I think they're under "advanced cpu" or something like that. perhaps someone else can chime in...

Here is my setup GA-X58A-UD3R Rev 2.0 FB + i7 950 + 5770. Would someone help me with the dsdt? Or perhaps someone else has this same setup. I have tried searching but didn't come up with anything. Any help is appreciated.

I have the same except your video card. The DSDT apparently doesn't differ between i7 processors, so if you find one with settings for your card but a 920 for instance, you can use that without issue. Or so I'm told. I still can't get a solid build...

So I've finally jumped into the DSDT mess and built a custom DSDT for the rev2.0 x58a-ud3r board and the i7-930 proc. I didn't include any fixes for video (GraphicsEnabler=yes takes care of basic video). Ethernet is included, so remove any ethernet strings (including built-in) from your com.apple.boot.plist.

This was all done according to d00d's excellent (if overwhelming) guide, and the performance I'm seeing is better than the soemo DSDT that was posted earlier. Even startup is quite faster. System is also very stable.

 

** Note: you need to make the following changes to your .plists:

 

To make the CPU changes work correctly, add the following to com.apple.Boot.plist.

Identify your machine as MacPro4,1 in smbios.plist.

Modify fakesmc.kext/Contents/Info.plist in two places with MacPro4,1 specific information (1.30f3 and smc-napa changed to 1.39f5 and smc-thurley).

I'm having a terrible time getting my system to run without NullCPUPowerMgmt.

 

First off, my hardware:

 

GA-X58A-UD3R v2.0 FA

Intel Core i7-930 @ 2.8

4GB Corsair 1066 DDR3

Nvidia 9800GT /512

{external sound}

MBOX2 USB (working)

Alesis Multimix USB (working)

 

OS:

OSX 10.6.4

 

 

I have followed the steps in [url=&quot;http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/&quot;]#####[/url];

 

(user DSDT.aml (from post #33, link above (thanks nullspot)),

system utilities (both),

nvidia enabler,

MacPro smbios Core i7,

No themes,

no additional OSx86 software (already installed))

 

I even did the Cakewalk Boot for the x58a-ud3r (didn't try the X58A-UD5R)

 

I went back through post #33 and saw that I had forgotten to remove the built-in networking in com.apple.Boot.plist.

Any help would be appreciated.

I even compiled my own DSDT.aml file. No errors, no warnings. 818 optimizations. but still no boot without HPET error on CPU 7 (CPU 2 call)

I have booted with

CPUS=1, but I get the same error.

Solved my own problem...

The permissions were not getting set on my DSDT.aml file. I set them manually and was able to reboot without [url=&quot;http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/&quot;]#####[/url].

what are you overclocked to?

 

building a new hackintosh in the morning. i'll post my x58a ud3r with nvidia card DSDT for you. it has native power management and allows me to use the processor fully

 

are you guys able to use the white sata 3 ports on your boards under osx?

Yes I use all ports. Two of the white SATA-Ports are recognized by JMicronATA JMB362. Two are Marvel Ports. If I populate every port with a HD, the Marvel ports are recognized as IDE on BIOS startup.

Can someone please aid me in my sleep issues?

 

Mine goes to sleep when activated (everything off), but when I awaken from sleep everything will turn on except for the monitor. It seems a lot of people are having this issue, but no one has addressed it.

Figured out that it was my Ethernet driver screwing up the sleep process. I just don't have it installed anymore and the computer sleeps fine now.

 

Anyone have recommendations for which version of VoodooHDA is best for this mobo? Ethernet driver that doesn't disrupt sleep functioning?

none, dont use voodoo. use the kexts discussed on page 2 of this thread

 

also. I was asked earlier on how I receive such a high geekbench score. just overclock your system to 4.2, use 1600mhz ram and use the 21x multiplier when overclocking.

 

at 4.32 my system's geekbench score was only 14000. while using the 23x multiplier.

 

but at 4.2 using the 21x i get 14,330

ok, been working on this for what feels like forever and i've made some good progress, but i'm still not 100% there. i'm no longer using the [url=&quot;http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/&quot;]#####[/url] CDs. not sure why, but they don't work for me at all. maybe my gpu? either way, i've switched to Empire EFI and it works just fine. Don't need to use -x to get through the installation. although i can get through the installation and into mac os, i still can't get the system to load after post-installation (after update and [url=&quot;http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/&quot;]#####[/url]). where i think i'm having a problem is the choices in [url=&quot;http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/&quot;]#####[/url]. i'm using jpa's thread on tonymacx86 and his instructions are with [url=&quot;http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/&quot;]#####[/url] 2.1.4, but i'm using 2.2.2, which i think is causing discrepencies in the installation. the second thing i noticed in his instructions, he suggests choosing NVEnabler_64 - For me 9800GTX+. I don't see an option for this in 2.2.2, so I don't know what to pick. they sucky thing is, at one point i picked options that would allow me to boot in safe mode without the cd but i forgot what i picked and haven't been able to figure it out since. every installation since i get a crash on boot for both regular and -x mode. i even try booting from the EFI cd and safety mode from the hdd and it still crashes.

I am getting bad lag after about 1 day of use. Opening/closing windows is choppy as is pretty much everything. I am using a 8800 GT w/ 12Gb of ram and this rev.2 board. What is odd is that everything functions perfectly for about a day and then the problems start... a reboot corrects the problem. Anyone else have this issue and know the fix?

Finally I've got all of the audio outputs work with voodooHDA!

Also U may try to use green, black, orange and grey outputs to build a 7.1 surround system via aggregate device. But I don't have sound system to try if it really work. The front panel headphone also can work now.

Only have a lillte problem is under 24bits, the soud quality is not so good then 16bits, and there haven't any info in the System profiler.

I know it is very easy to fix it by add the pin config in the dsdt.
