backinmac
Installed with the old version... Still the same problem... Slow OSX on 10.6.2 V3 from stells.... anybody CAN HELP??? :'( Although I'm not an expert by any means, it sounds like a video card problem. Try a custom EFI string using OSX86 tools or add another kext to your extensions folder such as NVENABLER and NVENABLER64 from Kexts.com. Search Google for OSX86 Tools. Also, a general question about the forum. Is anybody else getting the long list at the bottom of the screen of all the posts instead of just the posts? I have to click on any post to see it. Is this some setting I changed or is it a forum wide change? It only happens sometimes....very annoying. :/ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/187440-lifehacker-guide-with-ga-ep45-ud3p-motherboard/page/55/#findComment-1435252 Share on other sites
CoHPhasor
Okay. VERY WEIRD! so, I restarted the computer W/O the thumb drive stuck in the back, and then reinstalled stella V3 into the hackmac. Restarted.. I got a completely different start up sequence (with different darwin screens), and now my video card registers!!! But ethernet, wireless still is a problem. i'm happy that the video is clear up tho! Guess the only ?'s left are; - Which wireless? and - Which ethernet? IMHERETOSTAY
Will try that!! I inspected both v2 and v3 packages and I found that there were some changes in the Fake SMS (from 1.0 to 2.0) and sleepenabler is obviously removed... do you think any of those 2 can be the problem?? Or do you think stells changes the dsdt??? Jason C Allen
It seems I have some problems with my build... My build is in my signature, and it's a stock LifeHacker Hackintosh build. I'm updated to Snowleopard 10.6.2, and I am using an external 2TB Western Digital hard drive via the firewire 400 port on the EP45-UD3P motherboard. I'm encountering freeze-ups and kernel panics while using Firefox 3.6, Lightrom 2.6, and also while trying to import P2 format 720p HD footage into Final Cut Pro v6.06 (Studio 2, most recent upgrade). It's getting frustrating to say the least, but I think it's fixable. Working on diagnosing and fixing the KP now... will post back if fixed or for help. Jason C Allen
I updated to 10.6.2 immediately upon building and bringing to life the Hackintosh The Kernel Panics seem to come from specific programs under very specific conditions. I fixed the Firefox 3.6 issues (that was a Permissions issue with Flash Player after upgrading from 3.5 to 3.6). The issue with Lightroom 2.6.1 only seems to occur when exporting JPG or TIFF files that came from Nikon D300 RAW (NEF) files, or when using the spot healing brush... very odd that it only happens under those specific instances. More annoying with the Lightroom issue is that my Lightroom catalog gets corrupted when the Kernel Panic occurs during file export. The issue with Final Cut I have yet to begin addressing, but it wasn't an issue previously, and I haven't updated any software/drivers/video codecs related to the Final Cut Studio suite. I've been using all the software you mention without any issue. I, however, am not using a RAID set up. Is the RAID your boot disk or a scratch for FCP? As you may know, it is a bad idea to have FCP use your main drive as scratch space. -Ed Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/187440-lifehacker-guide-with-ga-ep45-ud3p-motherboard/page/55/#findComment-1436392 Share on other sites

funstuie
Hi All. I am attempting to load snow leopard on my hackintosh following the lifehacker guide. My components are almost exactly the same except I am using an Geforce 7600GT for my graphics card. Using the V3 installer all goes well and it boots fine. All seems to be working OK. When I update to 6.2 it reboots into the grey screen and keeps telling my I have to reboot. Could it be the graphics card? MacTech84
has anyone tested 10.6.3? is it safe to upgrade? So I need to be posting on here more often but a few updates. BIOS version FE for version 1.6 motherboard is a go! it works and even seems to work a bit better. My temps in iStat have dropped a few degrees Celsius. Just remember to redo your BIOS setting as per the LifeHacker screen shots. As for 10.6.3.... Updated and all is working, proper recognition of graphics card, network ports, audio and proper recognition on Sata bus drive. PLAY IT SAFE! Always update using the Larger Combo Updater for System updates. I did this on my emergency OS X drive, a spare drive that is bare of applications and basically OS X only. Going to update on my primary drive and go from there. Will report more once that is done! Update: Just installed on my primary drive using the Combo Updater (almost 900MB), and ..... drum roll please.... Complete Success! I have 10.6.3 up on my tower using the V3 installer from Stell and the R1000 installer for the On Board Nic. It feels very snappy! bean5
what about just simply running the system update from the apple menu? what's this combo updater and where do I get it? MacTech84
what about just simply running the system update from the apple menu? what's this combo updater and where do I get it? I have had problems in the past with the simple update from software update, the combo update makes sure to re-apply previous updates with the least amount of royally f'ing over your system. You can get the combo updater from here... http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1017 Enjoy P.S. I would recommend updating your BIOS to FE (for the version 1.6 boards) before going on as I have not done this on the FB BIOS and I know mine is working as of now. And for those curious on the complete list of fixes, here is a very thorough article. http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/10/03...provements.html Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/187440-lifehacker-guide-with-ga-ep45-ud3p-motherboard/page/55/#findComment-1436680 Share on other sites

bean5
how safe is the bios update? I'm paranoid as hell and since everything is working fine right now, what are the chances that I can ruin that? also, how do I find out what rev. I have? I know I can look at the board, but I don't want to open the case if I don't really have to. BIOS can always be a tricky thing regardless, its the very nature of the beast, but as long as it updates with no errors, you are fine. Version 1.6 boards are the ones that use the 2 letter designation for BIOS FB, FD, FE as examples. Version 1.1 and 1.0 boards use F10, F9, F8, as an example, a letter followed by a number. LeaderDesslok
No Video Here! I just installed 10.6.3 on my LifeHacker build. It has all of the exact same specs except the processor which is q9550. BAD NEWS! No video on reboot. It appears to have disabled the video support for the 9800 GTX. I get through the gray Apple logo and spinner and then the screen just goes black. The monitor is showing no video signal detected. I’ve tried both DVI connections. No luck. I have an HDMI monitor model HG216D that I’m connecting to with a DVI-HDMI cable. It worked flawlessly until I updated to 10.6.3. I re-ran Stell's v3 updater on it. Still no luck. Anyone else have this issue? I had to go back to 10.6.2. Would love to know how you got it working under 10.6.2 as there were problems with DVI-HDMI that I thought was not resolved. Might need to see how the Netkas PCEFI that was recently released will work for your setup. Just replace the Boot file to change it. IMHERETOSTAY
Quick question, what is the best way to remove a kext from the extra folder?? If I keep v2 and remove sleepenabler, will it work??? jbolted
Just updated via software update from 10.6.2 to 10.6.3.... omg, I better check my skivvies, I damn near shart my drawers. All is working fine I was hoping to gain a little lower temp but still idling at 54C topps at 65 running handbrake but it is working. My HDMI monitor still works using the HD connection. One thing I was never able to do in firefox is to go back and edit my typing I never get a curser or anything showing a space on the keyboard, but this is definately related only to the firefox browser on my setup anyway. Both Opera and Safari dont do this. But I'm not complaining all is well so far, will do more checking & report and abnormalties. I did this with me balls in the wind too, I still didnt set up a backup system, even though I installed another harddrive. But I figured woirse comes to worse if this didnt work I would have just put in my thumb drive and formatted the new disk with the V3 on it. thanks to everyone for all your help, especially Adam & Stell! Jbolted Why not just run the V3 installer to your hard drive, it has all the fixes in it already once you start pulling kexts out and putting different kexts in your moving away from the original install method for your motherboard. when they updated the installer to V3 if fixed most all of the problems V2 was having after the software update to 10.6.2 Quick question, what is the best way to remove a kext from the extra folder??
